  1. Honestly I think they could. A few use-cases I could see: 'You Don't Know Jack'-type quiz games RPGs where the controller is used as inventory management 'Warioware' style games
  2. i made this joke already- catch up, YEESH!
  3. I have at least played Tempest 2000. For me, it was a pretty neat system at the time but ended up going by the wayside for other consoles, the PC, and life in general. I still pull it out from time to time and fire up Pitfall because I really do like the game.
  4. i actually still have my original Jag from 1995ish. I never picked up more games than Pitfall and Iron Soldier, though.
  5. "It's not what you think- it's much, much worse!"
  6. The Simpsons made this joke in Season 4 Episode 21, though it was the 'Osaka Flu'. brb.. im yelling at mom from our basement to go nuke my Hot Pocket.
  7. *taps mic* is this thing on? *ahem* here's the latest update for all your superfans out there. https://medium.com/@atarivcs/atari-vcs-manufacturing-update-cdec2835afa7
  8. all the infighting among the fans on the IGG comment page is just pure gold for reading entertainment. You'd need to clicky to see the whole thing, but here's a sample of the riveting conversations taking place tonight!
  9. btw @Skippy B. Coyote - THANKS A LOT. lol I picked up Doom II last night and have played a bit this morning- I may end up taking my Switch to my doc appt too. 😂
  10. to keep this back in the scope of the discussion, i remember there being talk of Microsurgeon being one of the games that was mentioned with the Amico. Having played a bunch of this as a kid on the 994a, i keep meaning to look up info to see if there's updated screenshots or if it will even be a 'thing' still.
  11. no... bacon? 😪 as a funny aside in a way, last fall i had a bit of a heart scare that ended up with a procedure to get stuff sorted. cured meats were one of the things the cardiologist said that I needed to cut out of my diet. i'm still eating bacon.
  12. My apologies to @MrBeefy for derailing the thread. I have enjoyed (for the most part) reading the discussions in this impartial thread.
  13. Good to see this didnt turn into another Tommy shill thread. 🙄
  14. dude, i didnt realize there was another add-on for Doom II as well. now I have to buy the game, dang it! lol
  15. Here's my score- 25486. I dorked around this for a little over an hour this past week. For my two cents (1.5 adjusted for inflation), I kind of like when the 'old' games are selected for the HS competition- whether it's the Atarisoft ones or the old TI ones. I'm more likely to play if it's a game I'm familiar with.
  16. I need to post my score still here, but I highly encourage everyone to post their time to the Classic Gaming Tracker that @carlsson has run for a long time- it's a fun thread! There's a Modern one, too, if you're so inclined.
  17. Squeaking in with some classic time this week- I still need to upload my pic to the 994A High Score competition. TI-99/4A: Centipede -- 92 minutes
  18. The lion's share of my Modern gaming was played on the Switch with Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch this week. Little bit of Octopath, but from Friday on it was Ni No Kuni. I have been grinding through Torchlight II at bedtime nightly to wind down. Switch: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch -- 1051 minutes Octopath Traveler -- 587 minutes Torchlight II -- 846 minutes
  19. ha, this looks identical to the one that i put in my daughter's room for our Switch, hehe. i bought a bigger one for my desk in the bedroom
  20. +1 for what @GDMike said. I've used a couple of el cheapo Wally Element tvs and they work really well for what i need. One of them I think had VGA DSUB.
  21. You sound like me! 2nd Chapter is usually how far I got before I got distracted and did something else. I'd highly recommend starting the game over and trying again. I do have a few notes from my six playthroughs that's making this one a lot more fun: * Make sure that the first character you play is one you really like. First character can't be swapped out for another party member, so you're stuck with them the WHOLE game. * If you've seen the first chapter stories for everyone, you're not missing a whole lot by skipping them (other than maybe a few character levels). * As soon as I had all eight characters, I started hunting down the job shrines so I could dual-class. You might be puckering up depending on your level through the zone to get there, but having the extra abilities make your character waaaay more flexible and honestly fun to play. I just finished Chapter 2 for Therion and Cyrus, and now heading down to do Ophilia's. Here's my party: Olberic -- Warrior / Apothecary Cyrus -- Scholar / Merchant Ophilia -- Cleric / Dancer Therion -- Thief / Hunter Everyone's play style is different, but this one really works good for me. Olberic gets some much-needed balance and support skills, Cyrus gets a pretty awesome 'Rest' ability to restore SP, Ophilia gets some support skills and balance, and Hunter helps Therion with AOE-type stuff and support skills.
  22. I think what I really dug about Bioshock Infinite wasn't so much the story or mechanics- I really disliked some of the on-rails sections and a couple of the boss fights. What I *did* like, though, were the visual aesthetics and the soundtrack.
