  1. Serious question: how does one end up with a cart that is dirty enough on the inside that it needs to be opened for cleaning, but has a label that's worth protecting?

the opening them up part is mainly just curiosity as well as for some of my cheaper games that I still don't want to damage. Something I'd like to do is start a sort of catalog of different games boards, but I'd need to be able to open the shells for that.

  2. so, is there any good ways to open and clean a cart that doesn't damage the label or the cart? I can't find a good way to and just about every video I watch they mutilate the cart to get inside.

  3. The score isnt out of the realm of impossibility. According to this reddit thread, at least two other humans and a TAS have achieved faster times.

Additionally, a barn counting glitch (not exploited in the video), makes it possible to achieve times in the sub 16 second range.

that post is about the novice difficulty though, this score is for expert mode (unless I missed part of the post talking about expert mode) and the barn counting glitch has its own leaderboard for speedrun.com

  4. Being to new to this, I am just Amazed that someone could score 122K, or even the 33k score on an original Atari System.

What does NTSC stand For? for us non-techies? Or even PAL??

NTSC is the sort of generic version of the game, north american is what I like to use to describe it, and PAL is more European, but there are places aside from that that use the different versions of the games.

  5. So, I moderate the barnstorming page on speedrun.com and recently we had a new player come out and take 3 records quickly, one of which he keeps improving. I personally see nothing wrong with the scores, but another member is claiming they may be too good to be true, so I figured I'd come and ask the atari experts here. I'll leave a link to the run, which is on the expert/A difficulty of game 1 with a score of 33.22

  6. there was one point where I was going to design a contest like this, have a series of games with riddles leading to different goals, send the completed goal you get the next riddle. But I never ended up actually making it.

  7. I feel like pointing out that the Atari 2600 is hands down my favorite console to collect games for and it will most likely stay that way. I have 3 consoles and over 150 games for the system. I am also 19 years old.

Basically just a way of saying that some of the younger generations will still learn to love and enjoy the 2600 :)

  8. I've been collecting atari 2600 for most of the summer now and with my minimal income I've amassed over 150 different games for it. My entire collection however, is about 24 different consoles with over 500 games and I still think my collection is too small, haha

  9. so I found a cart with a label on it saying Hin Seng, not much info that I could find on it (aside from an old forum on this site) and I was wondering if it was a rare version to find and if there was any value to it, picture is included, game is Missile Command.

  10. Quick step is the only one with screenshot to prove how terrible I am. I have played about 10 games of it and I understand how the scoring works, but I'm just plainly terrible at it. I can't even break 500 points in any of those attempts. so my score is a negative amount I guess. Might try again on the other games, but I am done with Quick Step.
