1982 Reply Letter from Imagic regarding Demon Attack...
kencrisis replied to datafreq's topic in Atari 2600
So where's the pic of the Demon Attack poster? -
'Nother lefty here. I always thought the flicker in Defender was a feature, not a defect/limitation. It seemed incredibly hi-tech at the time to have all that flashing going on. Never had a problem with the righty joystick. But for some reason I also bat right-handed.

I should explain that in this particular episode of Three's Company, there was a 4-switch 2600 on their wicker coffee table. (Just sitting there unused.)

I could blame it on the episode of Three's Company I was watching at 2 am. I could blame it on the Internet, since I was online at the same time and I began to wonder if reclaiming my youth could just be an online order away. But ultimately, I blame on that last beer.

All of that contact info doesn't work either.

Hi, Does anyone know if http://www.worldofatari.com is still in business? I ordered some things from their website a couple of weeks ago. I tried to email them today and my mails get returned as undeliverable. I tried to call them and number has been disconnected.

Checked out the old posts... good info. But I still don't see any opinions on Atari CX80 vs. the WICO one.

Hmmm ... I haven't seen the one with the triangular buttons. Can anyone point me to a link that shows this. Also, I apologize for not searching this forum before posting this. From what I read, it looks like Missile Command doesn't really work with a trackball? There's some kind of hack? Is this a separate cartridge that's available? Sorry for the stupidity, but as the title of my original post states, I'm a totally ignorant newbie.

OK, So 5 days back into the 2600 world I'm feeling like further reclaiming my youth and getting all the crap my parents would never, ever buy me. My next idea is getting a trackball for Centipede and Missile Command. I've seen the Atari CX80 and the WICO one for sale. Are there others I can look for, and which one is the best? And why do you think it's the best (longevity, real-arcade feel, etc.)? Also, what other games are trackball-friendly?

Hey, thanks for all the advice. I will keep it all in mind, but atariace.com got back to me today and they're shipping out a another joystick to me tomorrow with a return label for the old one. I'm pretty happy with that, they seem like good guys. - K

Yeah, I tried pushing it back in with a flat screwdriver but had no luck. I was worried about damaging the ring though, in case I had to return the joystick. I'll give it another try tonight, but it looks like it might be warped. Hopefully atariace.com will get back to me. Don't know anything about this company, does anyone have any experience with them, any problems with getting in touch with them?

This weekend I got my "new" Vader 2600 system from atariace.com. Played solo all weekend and then today pulled out the second joystick today to play with my wife. But, I have one problem with this other joystick. The rubber surrounding the stick is only partially in place. Try as I might, I can't seem to get the rubber back in place. I've included a few pictures so you can see what I mean. This is annoying and sometimes interferes with game play, as the whole rubber thing pops out almost all the way as I play -- but also because its a disappointing flaw in a near-cherry system. Can you tell me how to fix this, or should AtariAce.com exchange it for another Vader joystick for me? (I've contacted them, but haven't heard back, so I thought I'd try here.)

Hey thanks for the input, you reminded me of so many games and I just ordered a bunch. I can't believe I forgot about Warlords -- that game was like, my whole life in 1981. - K

Just pulled out the ol' 2600 again and I'm hooked -- again! My wife and I are looking for a list of 2600 games that enable two players to play against each other (games that let two players play at the same time). My memory is a bit faded, so I can only think of Boxing, Ice Hockey, Combat, Pong Sports and Tennis. We'd REALLY appreciate some help!
