    help

That is the difficulty switch for games, it is not to select channels. How is the atari hooked up to the television?
  2. I still WANT it to be real. Not just for Evilbay, but for everyone who goes into a thrift store and goes to tag sales religiously every Saturday morning. It gives me hope to keep looking. It truly would be the "thrift store find of the century" (at least in the gaming world) I am just skeptical, but would love to be proven wrong.
  3. I have rebuilt a Galaga and it is all complete except for the side art. Anyone know of a place to get it. I found a couple, but they were asking over $100. Is that what I should be expecting? This is my first arcade game I got, so I don't really know what to expect. All the other stuff (bezel, kickplate, etc.) was much cheaper. Maybe I got lucky?
  4. This sucks. It's rare in life that you catch a break such as this. It's a shame that some dolt had to ruin it for you. You should be celebrating the sale with your spouse, throwing back a glass of champagne and toasting the addition to your home. Instead you have to deal with threats and some moron. I agree with everyone else. Call his bluff and see what he does. Test the cart again. If it still works, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Tell him that you have the cart. Tell him that it works and you can prove it. Tell him if he wants it back he can pay for shipping again. Nobody is going to arrest you and fly you to New Jersey for an ebay auction gone bad. It just doesn't work that way. Sorry again.
  5. There is starting to be way too much Air Raid "weirdness" going on for this all to be a coincidence... Or not... Either way, Oliver Stone should be popping in any minute.
  6. yeah, well there's no U in team either. However much doubt I may have, it would be very cool if it was true.
  7. I hope it's as simple as buyer's remorse and that he's not trying to scam you. I agree that it is odd someone would know enough about Atari to spend that much money on a holy grail cart, then get all nuts because it rolls. Something is definitely weird.
  8. As stated by a few others, ebay offers a 'second chance' option after the auction to offer the item to the second highest bidder in situations like this I guess. That may be an option. Either way, that really sucks.
  9. I guess the biggest question is, why would so many of the same title be in a thrift store. (Expecially THAT title) If it is true, how the hell did that happen? What would that scenario be? Who had them to begin with and why did they dump them. They would have had to work for MenAvision you would assume, or at least know someone very well who worked for MenAvision. (If not, why would they have that many to begin with?) You would assume that in either case they would know what they had and not dump them off at a Goodwill or wherever, no ? If it's true, there is a very good story behind it.
  10. Along the same lines, Human Cannonball had me sucked in a few nights ago.
  11. You are in a cave. (Actually, "You are in a twisty maze of passage ways... all alike...") Another name for the game is 'Collosul Caverns' It was also called ADVENTUR because it could only hold 8 characters It is considered the first text adventure. (although there were a couple before it, it was the most popular.) It had a very "Lord of the Rings" flavor to it, which is why, as a 10 year old in 1981, I fell in love with the game. It is the original origins of the words? XYZZY and PLUGH. It was one of the first games I ever played on a computer. Here's a great link talking about it's history... http://www.rickadams.org/adventure/a_history.html
  12. Hero's Quests and Police Quests too.
  13. And while you have most of the great Sierra titles, why no King's Quests ?
  14. I too would like to request your friendship Anyway, that's a great list. One of my favorites not listed: X-Wing and or TIE fighter
  15. looking to get a copy on 5 inch floppy or cassette so I can load it on my C64. Anyone have a copy?
  16. I have two Vectrex systems and they have never had any problems at all. Not with the controller, display, on off switch... nothing at all. I have seen quite a few of them as a few of my friends collect too and I can tell you they pretty much all "hum" pretty loud. I have never seen a Vectrex that didn't have a loud hum when turned on. I think it would probably hum like that new out of the box. Just the way it was designed. Of course I could be wrong. At least the system has a volume nob for the games, unlike the incredibly loud and annoying Nintendo Virtual Boy.
  17. Looking for Adventure (the text adventure) for the C64. Anyone have an extra copy ? Or any of the Zorks?
  18. I will ship to Canada if you cover the extra shipping. Just let me know you are from AtariAge if you win the auction.
  19. Gangster alley death sequence is pretty cool too. I agree with the Ms. PacMan posts too. I remember turning on Ms. Pacman the first time and wondering what happened when they made PacMan.
  20. I actually missed Frogger, but got most of the rest. They seemed to mix 2600 sounds with arcade sounds. (Like Pacman eating and Pacman dying) I wished there were more! As a side note, another game on that site called "Nude Runner" is quite disturbing. (Don't open at work)
  21. The first time I met my wife she was wearing Daisy Duke shorts. It's now 16 years later. Now THAT was a fashion statement. That's a great label by the way.
  22. Just thought of another one. In the game Frankenstein's Monster, when the monster is stomping towards you when you die. That was pretty good.
  23. What is your favorite eye candy in a 2600 game? For instance, as a kid, I was blown away... and I mean totally blown away... when I got past a level in He-Man Masters of the Universe and there was that giant picture of He-Man with the theme music playing. I never thought my Atari 2600 had that much power. Also, the opening screen on Airlock I always thought kicked arse. (And I always thought this game was better than people say. I always get nervous as the clock ticks down and the water gets closer.) Anyway, anyone else have any favorite eye candy in a 2600 game?
