How often do you play current gen games?
Red 5 replied to sega saturn x's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Just about every night from 10:00 PM to Midnight is nothing but (in this order) Xbox PS2 GameCube (although right now I am mostly playing Resident Evil 4 on GC. MLB for Xbox in 2nd right now, unless we are playing Ghost Recon 2 online) Gameboy Advanced gets lots of play on business trips and when I travel. Play classics and MAME mostly on weekends or if friends come over. -
Warlords is still one of the best multiplayer games ever made. Tunnel Runner is my favorite though. Very addicting and as the levels go on, incredibly fast. 3D PacMan with no power pellets.

After countless attempts I can't get passed 72.

I agree it's A LOT like last year but the new animations and mini games are great. Also, the game seems to play tighter and a little quicker. Last year a full game could take 45 minutes to an hour. This year I'm around 30 minutes. Pitching and fielding are the best in this series by far. I just wish EA didn't make it. (And I wish Manny's ugly mug wasn't on the cover.) The owner's mode could be fun, but it's tough enough just playing Dynasty mode. The music is the worst yet. A good measure of the game though is that I've had it for 3 days and am 20 games into my season.

The super nintendo and the sega genesis
Red 5 replied to sega saturn x's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Genesis was in it's hayday when I was in college. NHL hockey and Madden football was played non-stop 24 hours a day 7 days a week in my dorm. I don't think my Genesis was off for 4 years straight. However, it really was a sports system to me. If you wanted to play other types of games (especially RPG's) SNES kicked Genesis' ass. However Genesis did have a few great titles. Flashback and the Sonic games were great. And Genesis did have the blood in Mortal Kombat (ABACAB, who can forget.) What I still can't figure out is why I can get $40 a system with a few games on Ebay for a SNES system, but can't give away Sega Genesis systems. I go to tag sales all summer and sell duplicate games and systems on ebay to re-invest back into the collection (a vicious circle). I have no snes systems and about 15 genesis systems. -
I can't say more than this, but I do know this for a fact. XBOX 2 (although it will not be called that) will be released this Fall. By Christmas there will be 15 titles. Halo 2 will NOT be one of the titles, although they will have a system seller. (At least for those of us who don't have a top of the line PC)

Sorry for the double post, but I just remembered something else. They were seen together in Ms. PacMan's cut scenes. Thus proving they are in fact different beings. Now Michael and Janet... that's another story.
-
Are you implying that Ms. PacMan's mole is fake ! ? That's crazy talk ! It's always in the exact same spot !

I think they are worth it from a collectors point of view. I love mine, and it's the one I keep plugged in and play because I think it looks the best. For me, personally, the heavy sixer is a must for an Atari collector anyway. As for a price, you really can get them cheap on ebay. I got mine for under $20 as well. The trick is to look at all the atari system auctions. Ones that have no description other than Atari 2600 system. I found mine (system and joystick only) listed as 'Atari 2600 system'. Looking at the pictures, you can tell if it is a true heavy sixer. The auctions listed as 'Heavy Sixer' that are legit sell for a lot more usually. I was lucky and got an original joystick (no hex disc though).

Make a MAME cab while you still can. Unbelievable.

Finally got a Lynx, but no good games. I am really interested in getting: APB Rampart Xenophobe I have a decent sized list of 2600, 5200, NES, Intelly, and Collecovision games for trade. Nothing too rare. The intelly stuff is all boxed and complete with inst. and overlays, the rest are loose carts. PM me if you want a trade list and I will send it when I get home tonight. Or PM me with a price for the games. Thanks !

Ahhh... lazy stupid people... Money in the bank. They keep me employed, that's for damn sure.

18 bids and ended at $1,877. That's quite a few people with more money than common sense. (I am assuming the same person didn't bid 18 times.) If people are willing to spend $3000 for a new Galaga / Ms. PacMan machine from Brookstone (http://www.brookstone.com/shop/product.asp?product_code=375204), why it this such a big deal. (Legality issues not taken into account) I got my Galaga for $300 and with time, put another $200 into it to get it running and fully restored. But that's because I have a little experience with arcade games and know the right people. We know how to make one so it seems like a giant rip off. I also can build a top of the line computer for around $500 piecing it together from computer fairs, ebay, etc., yet computers of the same calibur sell every day for around $1200. The point is, people who don't know how to do these things will pay.
-
Even if paying for the games WAS legal, I am pretty sure games like Ms. PacMan, Donkey Kong and PacMan were never released to StarRoms or anyone else for that matter. For the record, I put just under $600 into my MAME cab, but that is taking into consideration the $300 computer I built 3 years ago and the $150 I spent on the dual X-Arcade joystick. I'm sure I could have built that same computer for about $150 today. And building your own joystick is much cheaper (and looks better) than the X-Arcade stick. I was just lazy.

Xbox 2 will be released this fall. It will not be called Xbox 2 and it will not be called Xenon. They will announce it at E3.
-
Yeah, that's it. And all the games on that machine are listed on Star Roms. Like I said though, I don't know about the resale of those Roms. And it's only overpriced if it doesn't sell
-
It says fully licensed, so my answer would be... kind of. I would guess it is using MAME to play the games, but they probably got the rights to the games. A lot games you can legally download for a small fee. Some games (Pac Man, Donkey Kong, etc.) you cannot. I forget the name of the site that lets you download MAME ROMS legally. If I remember, or find it, I will post it for you. However, I don't know about reselling it. I'll see what I can find.

What are the "Must Have" titles for NES?
Red 5 replied to jeepnut24's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Popular games? The 2 Zelda games Punch Out was great Excite Bike Metroid games were fun Ghosts and Goblins I'm sure there are more that I am not thinking of off the top of my head, but those are definitely all 'must haves' (as well as the ones you named) Mario 3 is still possible the best Mario game ever made. -
I don't think that is too much at all. If it works and is complete and in good condition, that is about right for the price. I could have bought an Atari Jaguar for $19.99 at KayBee at one point too, but they are worth much more than that boxed today. Anybody who wants to sell me a boxed working Virtual Boy for $20, PM me and I will buy as many as you have to sell me. Using e-bay as a standard: Complete and working they sell for about $40 - $60 on average without the box. Here are two auctions with a working system and a box. Both these sellers seem pretty new, but I bet these still go for over $70. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8166667126&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8168564814&rd=1
