  1. thanks for everyone's help.

I have had the system for a while now (about a year) and have

been cleaning it up whenever I have a chance.

Just got a new monitor actually. No more burn in :)

I will put up a picture if I ever get the side art.

I'm starting a MAME system for myself and think that may take up

    most of my time.

    Thanks again.

  2. I too, like the rest of the world it seems, am planning on building a mame machine. Just for classic arcade games. (Nothing after 1988)

Right now, I am running MAME beautifully on my computer which is a 2.3 ghz machine.

Can I use my older machine which is like a P2 or P3 tops and I believe 800 mhz. If I throw in 128 for RAM and a good sized hard drive would I be able to pull it off ?

I know a video card would be cheap because it doesn't take much there, but for my last question, how does it look on a TV instead of a monitor? I can afford a much bigger TV screen than I can a computer monitor screen, but how bad will it look?

Thanks for you help with this MAME newbie !

  3. If they stacked nicely, I don't think we'd even have this thread.

    The games themselves are great.

    I loved:

    Baseball

    Armor Ambush

    Lock N Chase

    Bump N Jump

    Frog's and Flies

    Masters of the Universe

and although many people may disagree, I loved burger time.

  4. I was wondering if you could use the word adventure in the title if it were part of a sentence. I mean, you can't copywrite a common word, right?

    Like:

    "Another adventure"

"The continuing adventure of block man"

    "Yellow Square has an adventure"

"The adventure where you find a glowing cup, avoid a bunch of dragons, and return it to a castle." (tough to fit on a label...)

Maybe AtarAge can sponsor a contest for the best name?

It would get more interest in the game (like it needs it...) and it would be fun.

  5. Thanks for the update.

I wrote a previous thread about the games I am most excited for are Halo 2 and your game.

I think that what Halo 2 means for Xbox, your game is the equivelant for the 5200.

I have been blown away by the screenshots, but have not been lucky enough to play the demo yet.

Thanks for putting the time into this !

  6. Just a simple question...

Without bashing Infogrames, France, or any sort of religious group...

Is this game still due to come out before Christmas?

The website hasn't been updated since September and I am really

    looking forward to the game.

Last I heard there was a demo of it at the last show. Any new news?

  7. I would say a jr. or a 4 switch.

A lot of red labels and some various other carts. don't fit in my 6 switch as nicely.

Although emulators are great and serve their purpose, nothing beats playing with the real thing.

I have a 7800 and a 2600 hooked up but never play my 2600 carts on the 7800... not really sure why... just love the 2600.

  8. I cleaned the board, the contacts, everything. It refuses to work. I tried it on my other 2600, nada. I still say a million bucks it's combat.

    It is not Combat. ;)

    It's probably Air Raid.....

EVERYTHING is Air Raid ! :D

  9. I can't believe that a company that made only one game, in a very limited number, would bother making an NTSC version and a PAL version.

What I am saying is, I would be very amazed to find out that there was more than one version of this game. This is Air Raid. You gave him what he purchased. You asked "What would you do?" If it were me, I would call his bluff. I would also seek out (as cheap as possible) a lawyer to get a proffesional opinion,.

  10. I still WANT it to be real.

Not just for Evilbay, but for everyone who goes into a thrift store

and goes to tag sales religiously every Saturday morning.

It gives me hope to keep looking.

It truly would be the "thrift store find of the century" (at least in the gaming world)

I am just skeptical, but would love to be proven wrong.

  11. I have rebuilt a Galaga and it is all complete except for

    the side art.

Anyone know of a place to get it.

I found a couple, but they were asking over $100.

Is that what I should be expecting?

This is my first arcade game I got, so I don't really know what to expect.

All the other stuff (bezel, kickplate, etc.) was much cheaper. Maybe I got lucky?

  12. This sucks.

It's rare in life that you catch a break such as this.

It's a shame that some dolt had to ruin it for you.

You should be celebrating the sale with your spouse, throwing back a

glass of champagne and toasting the addition to your home.

Instead you have to deal with threats and some moron.

    I agree with everyone else.

Call his bluff and see what he does.

Test the cart again. If it still works, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Tell him that you have the cart. Tell him that it works and you can prove it. Tell him if he wants it back he can pay for shipping again.

Nobody is going to arrest you and fly you to New Jersey for an ebay auction gone bad. It just doesn't work that way.

    Sorry again.

  13. I hope it's as simple as buyer's remorse and that he's not trying to scam you.

I agree that it is odd someone would know enough about Atari to spend that much money on a holy grail cart, then get all nuts because it rolls.

    Something is definitely weird.
