Brøderbund Graphical Adventures - Single ATR Version
tmp replied to Wrathchild's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
just to avoid confusion, firmware versions newer than 0013 should have option key behavior inverted (for atr emulation) so be sure to check what version you're testing on ("?" key) -
this is the file you need to flash onto esp8266 board - http://avgcart.tmp.sk/files/atari/avgrescue_0014.zip on windows you can use this flasher - https://www.espressif.com/sites/default/files/tools/flash_download_tools_v3.6.4_0.rar set file, offset, crystalfreq, flash size and pick the correct com port on linux you can use esptool.py, let me know if you need any assistance

all gone now, thanks

unfortunately that description is too vague for me so i can't help you with that unless you or someone else provides more details / steps to reproduce on an unrelated note, i found some weird issue with the latest batch of carts that i do not understand yet, i need all that upgraded to a014/b014 to try bad apple cart and let it play at least once and report whether it went through or crashed seems that test versions of 0014 uncovered some problem but i'm not sure whether it's just a latest batch or also some previous carts, it doesn't affect my test cart it seems that i found a sw workaround but since it also affects update, do not update to/from a014/b014 for now thanks BadApple.zip

i can't even get it running in altirra but that could be me, what machine are you running it, does it need extra memory? that .xex also seems to be broken (extra byte in the second to last block?), i need to look more closely at it EDIT: try the attached .xex vantage-point_fix.xex

most of the work is done in cart with atari only acting as a terminal (display, input), many things could be moved to 6502 code but i'm no FJC
-
i don't know steps to test?
-
"COLD /N" seems to work now, give me a few more easy bugs to justify a new beta
-
so i assume that "COLD /N" should restart me to basic READY prompt, right? i'll look into it
-
it should but that doesn't mean that there are no bugs left if something doesn't work like it's supposed to with real hw (SIDE cart in this case), i need steps to reproduce and expected behavior because i've never used the real thing (or sdx)
-
i'm still easily confused by all these atari things including sdx and u1mb, but if you have u1mb, you should probably be using internal sdx and SIDE-only emulation (shift-s currently)
-
it's probably a matter of preference, i personally prefer being able to see 2 more entries on the screen to having some static lines that nobody will care about in a day when he figures out to use cursor keys and enter it's a tool to run fancy things, doesn't need to be fancy but if the consensus is opposite, i can change that
-
b014 some small fixes, mostly search related btw, i've played with those atarionline archives for a bit, having a folder for every game/util/demo makes avgcart's search quite unusable, there's too much overhead with such structure so i suggest less folders with more files in them i might try adding some search index file support in the future but i'm not sure whether it's worth the effort and extra complexity it adds
-
i'm glad your 130xe is still alive, unfortunately i have currently no plausible explanation for that behavior and i don't feel comfortable having you do any more tests given the symptoms anyone else has any idea? i've checked photos of rapidus and u1mb and didn't see any polyfuse that'd explain that "cooldown" period
-
you can stop the search by hitting ESC i found that there's an issue with selector not coming back after reset that was hidden by another bug (changing a byte in checksummed memory that probably forced coldstart on reset and that made it start) i'm not yet sure what's going on there, i'll be looking into it ok, that might explain issues, i have only 10k and way less folders i'll retest with a more packed card
-
it took me around 2 months to finally plug it the wrong way (with help of shell that had cutouts on the wrong side to fool me) suprisingly everything survived but don't try this at home
-
i'm sorry to hear that, it's the first time something like this happened can you try removing rapidus from your 130xe to see whether it's the atari or rapidus? what power supply are you using?
-
i'm still unable to replicate the freezing when searching through empty directory, i'd probably need the contents of sd card where it's happening or instructions how to create such scenario starting with empty card reset while search is in progress is problematic, i'll try to find a workaround for that pajero_pn, how many files and directories do you have on your sd card?
-
i've tried this, seems to work for me, you need to press backspace twice to see anything again (first to exit search results (empty), second to get from empty dir) hotswapping sd card is currently not working, i was planning to do that but since nobody complained, it was not prioritized i can add ESC to quit update before it started, meanwhile just don't start the update if you don't intend to update (it's hard to press those keys accidentally) or just powercycle your atari, it's safe until you press cart button to start the process, after that, don't powercycle it even in the case that the update appears to freeze (always wait at least a minute)
-
it's been a while since i've released an update so here's at least something, beta of 0014 no major changes except for some ATR improvements and search capability -- ATR - OS.XEX was renamed to OSXEX so be sure to copy it from the update zip file (old one won't work since there were changes) - ATR files are now writable (i strongly recommend having a backup of your SD card content just in case) - you can now map multiple ATR files (using TAB) to D1:-D4: and use right cart button to cycle them - OPTION key functionality is inverted (so BASIC is off by default) -- search - use / to search for files (recursively down from the current dir) - ESC to cancel search - BACKSPACE to return to normal file listing this beta was not intensively tested so please report any issues download a014
