ok, i think i need a bit more info since this is the first time i'm seeing qmeg i've flashed qmeg+ 4.04 to one of the u1mb's slots and now when i turn on the atari, qmeg menu shows up and when i press esc, avgcart's menu shows up should that crash be happening before qmeg menu shows up but cart is being ignored?

just the other day i was looking into an issue with xex loading on 800 (some other thread here) and noticed that when i downgraded from beta 0018 to 0015, it was crashing when i used OS B rom and it needed a reset there were some startup changes in 0018 but they should not make the menu rom make available that much sooner than in older versions, i'll do some tests with qmeg later, thanks for the info

bummer it acts as there was no cart inserted or does it crash in any way? i assume pressing reset doesn't bring the menu, right?

there's basically no useful internal interface that could be used by 3rd party sw, when in menu, atari is only used as a dumb terminal so it doesn't have access to stuff like files/entries (not that you could talk to the cart at that moment since the menu is running), when it's emulating cart, it only responds to stuff that is defined by the bankswitching type (until you press the cart button), etc. now i'm not against doing some custom interface if there's a good use case for that, it's just there was no point in doing any extra stuff that nobody would ever code anything for so basically everything is just a bare minimum to have the core functionality working

looks like xex loader fix in 0016 broke something for OS B machines, if i choose that on my U1MB XL, mule doesn't work, it works with stock XL OS downgrading to 0015 seems to help, on the other hand the menu doesn't run without pressing reset, i don't know if that was also happening on a real 800 since nobody reported that i should get an 800 for testing but they're quite hard to come across around here

this xex works for me, what was the version you upgraded from and what's your current firmware version?

it should fit the bay but most likely you won't be able to close the cover, atr emulation probably won't work unless you got upgraded ram i don't own 400 (actually never seen one in person) so hopefully someone who has one and tried avgcart in it will reply here with his experience

unfortunately no, there were only a few similar reports and i don't think the cause of the problem was found in those cases i've never seen this problem myself so i was never able to look into that what machine is this and are you able to test it on a different machine?

i've seeked through some videos from previous years, this is mostly console gaming oriented, not much for those of us who like their computers to have a keyboard, right?

update file is always read from the current directory and i want to keep it that way since it has some advantages the other support files, i don't have a strong opinion about that, they're not shown in the browser so that's not an issue and i can't tell if more people would appreciate the change or be pissed due to having to figure out why things stopped working

so you're saying that you can't return to avg menu by pressing cart button and reset and you have to powercycle the machine? is it happening randomly or is it happening all the time for a certain file(s)? what machine/configuration is this? thanks

please attach the airball car you were testing, i have one here that works but can't tell whether it's the same as for memtest, i assume some errors are expected since on power-on there's selector rom enabled so it can't test ram under it i'll also try salt 2.04 to see whether there's any difference between 0017 and d018

some time ago i was working on autorun functionality for which i had to shuffle a lot of code and adjust some atari<->cart communication which caused some new subtle and sometimes bizarre bugs (mostly UI related) hopefully i've already fixed most of them but before i release 0018, here's an extremely beta version for those brave (and bored) enough d018 basically what i'm interested in is whether you're seeing any regression compared to 0017 (weird behavior in UI, freezes on loading files, etc) changelog: - Run AUTORUN.(CAR|XEX|AVF) on power-on if present in /_AVGCART/ - Added type 44 (OSS 8 KB cartridge) - Added type 53 (Low bank 8 KB cartridge) - Fix bank reenabling for some OSS carts - Fix cursor position after running file from search results - ESC exits search results instead of disabling cart

not really, this is just a by-product of testing some ideas and (ab)using avgcart as a devboard currently it's 2 emulated xf551s, kinda works but there are still quirks i need to debug (also trying to run it via a single floppy cable is slightly problematic), the hw is just a few connectors, some pullups and many wires, if it ever gets working properly, i might design an adapter pcb for it or let someone else do it but it's gonna be unofficial and unsupported
