  1. It should also be noted that the PAL 7800 that I was testing on was a PAL RGB model. So the colors might be slightly different than a standard RF PAL 7800.

    Mitch

Mitch i had not slight color shifts but wrong colors in my latest bitmaps. I used the bitmap converter by Schmutzpuppe and hand matched the colors which was not like it showed in the tool.

But when I picked the palette values a7800 emu showed it matched correctly. :)

If you dont mind I would like to send you weekend a new built to test? :)

  2. Mines:

    Haunted House (very immersive)...

    pitfall 2

    Star Master

    enduro

    Space shuttle

Raiders of the lost arc (the deepest Action Adventure imho for the 2600 - ok not knowing Adventure or Quest series)

Ok... as more as I think of... Raiders of the lost arc is it...

  3. ok. some miracle solved... I can display the palette in A7800 and take the values from there as the gfx converter by Schmutzpuppe seems to use the A8 palette which is wrong.

I hope that A7800 pal palette is correct or near the real thing.

  4. I am little bit confused with the palettes of emulators... me using a7800p for my PAL developments and when setting colors in my code I want to ensure that the colors match nearly the real hw ones.

Coming from a8 and not 2600 I am used to the Atari 256 palette.

Mitch tested some of my code on real pal machine mentioned that some colors are off like emu was showing.

That scares me off little bit esp when converting gfx from our artists. Even they use PAL palette in photoshop. And me picking those values and setting Maria they are different than I expect they should show up in emulator.

So whats the deal here? Even Schmutzpuppes gfx converter example of IK+ and Haunted C64 pic show different colors than screenshots.

Thanks for any help. Maybe I have set wrong emulator? But I am starting it with simple a7800p flag?

  5. Hi Guys,

I am preparing new code for the upcoming Revision 2019 demo party end of April held in Germany.

today I got the PSU finally replaced so I could test my PAL 7800 and yeah. Asteroids appeared plus playing sound on the big screen via RF... (jez...did we really played in 80s with such interferences etc ;))

So to test my stuff on real HW and I need to present my stuff on real machine to the organisers esp. for recording video I was asking if someone can lend me his flash cart where I can simplify my testing and I would revert it right back after easter.

my cart at the moment is a 128kb cart with ROM banks at 8000-bfff (1-7) and bank #0 at c000-ffff plus 16k RAM at 4000-7fff, no POKEY.

as I am aware I can not buy one right away?

    Thanks for any response.

    Cheers,

    Heaven

  6. I think your comment about Cosmi is rather harsh. Aztec Challenge wasn't that bad at all - haven't checked out the C64 version to see if it's that much better?

    It's graphics wasn't that bad.

You might as well say that Kangeroo by Atari was a bad game - too plain graphics and gameplay.

    Harvey

The C64 Games are completely different ones except super Huey and forbidden forest.
