You can emulate a 52k Atari 800 on an XL/XE system. While most translators give you only 48k RAM, there are a few ones, like e.g. Ultra-Translator, that will give you either 48k or 52k (user-selectable)...

Andreas, I always wonder about your Atari knowledge:) learns this week about 4K additional ram and today about other translators

The 800 compatible upgrade I'm talking about doing to a board, I referred too as the 48/52K, I'm talking about using all 64K (any 400/800 board that is at least 48K actually use 8x64K drams and so 64K memory is there, but Atari's and some other 48K boards just ignore it unless modified.) like the Mosiac bank switches to the same continuous 48+4K memory. Similar to how the Mosiac 64K board works, but I actually don't know if it's 100% compatible with the Mosiac board. It's one of Claus's designs. so it doesn't touch the OS locations. ($C000-$D000)?? I may be mis-reading my self-edited, abbreviated memory map...I'm just teaching myself all this stuff lately, usually I just build the upgrades, I hadn't really started learning the 6502 and Atari memory map until recently, I still have to use reference constantly. I have Mapping the Atari, but this chart in 'How to program your Atari in 6502 Machine language' (A Hofacker paperback) was the easiest to find since I read the book a couple weeks ago.
Jesus... Hofacker i have not heard that for decades... similar me reading from week to week Data Beckers Atari Intern book. I have several of same book so its always available

Gremlins / Conan / Hard Hat Mack / Droll etc use XOR sprites...

Ok. Me one of the muppets writing demos for VBxE...

Yes... I dare to say that a 65816 or lynx like 4mhz 6502c needs to drive the vbxe.... (one reason why the Lynx got speed update maybe to drive the custom chips?).
The data needs to be shifted, more content more data to move to vbxe etc.
Just to give you an idea. We are talking about 320x240x256 >64kb data. For 1 picture alone. Now consider sprite data etc.... if you pack that say with lz4 or exomizer still a lot to depack not to mention loading.
So I would be interested as well as vbxe plus scart and vga putnput plus 80 collums spartados Software list
As fas as I remember I only know Johns word processor but what about others? Syncalc, mac/65 or turbo basic etc?

John.... interesting
The Dungeon wA my first ever self completed and self mapped without cheats RPG... so I know your feelings.

Without debugger hard for dev.
as I realized that bank switching with mad gone code and stores at 8000-bfffThanks to a7800 and watchpoints easy to track down.

Does the emu support a proper debugger?
And command line support?

Yeah but Altirra non frame interlacing is more bad than real pal crt

-
Ok. Let me be more precise... the SIDs played in former demos. cool emotion e.g. are well... sometimes detuned...
I was wonder how you made them? Used player and used a virtual sid2pokey table? -
nowadays I would not code PAL flickering fx as most ppl watch it on youtube, Altirra or TFT....

Things could get interesting if a 9/11 mode was used.
I wonder about the slowdown that may happen, changing the mode every scanline.
the archive I have posted refering to the video is 9/11 pal blending or do you mean without flickering so APAC mode?

Just wondering...
Cosmi on C64 was cult with Aztek challenge and forbidden Forrest but the a8 versions are so bad... or look at Super Huey...
