  1. Xbios ok? So I have a folder which can contain the assets? And the ultimate device it is 1mb ram additional to the VBXE? Thats how I would expect it?
  2. Retro prices raising since years....check Armstrad, ST or even Amiga....
  3. Because my personal interest in doing games is zero... thats Popmilo et al field. And I found other machines more interesting at the moment. Coding demos and games are separate things and use similar skill set but game needs more work imho. I might finish or continue with Beyond Evil but it might appear on C64 and or VBXE machines.
  4. I am just looking into some Silly Venture release (no promisses! ;=)) One of the machines there is a modified Atari 130XE (1MB Ultimate, 2x POKEY - stereo, VBXE 2.1 core 1.24) The computers will be connected to the following “media”: - SIO2SD connected to SIO port with an SD card acting as a medium - SIDE2 with the following mediums used: a) CompactFlash card formatted under Sparta DOS X, b) CompactFlash card formatted under FAT32 with entries run through SIDE loader - SIO2USB connected to SIO port and a PC computer running the latest version of AspeQT - for the close emulation of FDD and tape recorder - IDE Plus 2.0 rev. C IDE/KMK-JŻ connected to PBI/ECI ports and a CompactFlash card formatted under Sparta DOS X - acting as a backup in case any of the previous solutions fail now avoiding slow loading times... what if I want to use a) fast loader b) "HDD" like loading what do I need to take care of in terms of DOS/XBIOS and RAM not to trash? and regarding that 130XE... means it has 1MB banked memory plus the 512kb of the VBXE? I am considering "mutiplart" so not only loading 1 part...
  5. On is most of the time not an issue but how to get them close? I have the feeling that often you need to switch through several options on a non intuitive button (transparent, 2 pages, only header with some news etc)
  6. Now a 75% neutral post? Good... it seems we get to it As soon as you dont insult ppl and turn their work down and even listen to coders and dont take everything for granted what you have done in the past I am happyx
  7. Thanks Jon! A Plus/4 is on my shopping list....
  8. Yeah. I only have one game since ages on the plate and its Beyond Evil... and to say what... it was ressurrected but on C64 as I am lazy and my softsprite routine has bugs and as emkay is right in that case it was better platform... few STAs for sprites, 256 chars... most hard shit on a8 was gone... and with color ram I can even disable chars by setting to black.....
  9. Haha ok. Not me only as on each TV at some point I need to switch off tv to get teletext off screen as exit button etc does not work as it (imho) should... same with that transparent overlay mode... ok. Glad I am not the only muppet out there.
  10. Now Carlson is on the right track... list C64 commercial releases (or even the Spectrum NES etc releases) are so high bar and quality because ppl invest a lot of time. Why? Because ppl are willing to pay now. And say gaming biz is easier today with all the toolset. And ppl from gaming industry are coming back and code on C64 eg. Veto eg doing pro Grafics for games (priori Art) and everybody knows him for Carmen or Eye of Beholder.... or his work for Oxyron or in 90s for Thalion etc...there is much more experience nowadays than in 80s. Sad A8 scene lacks of coders and ppl willing to invest so much work as ppl do in C64 land...
  11. @emkay:Aehm.... no? My impression is that you might turn others work down by saying easy when it actually is not under the hood. And yes. Sprites are strength of the C64 but that alone does not make Sams easy to write (excluding the content and art). We all know the strength and the weakness of platforms most simply because we coded on all of them? That doesnt mean we knew each platform well but at least we touch the different metal.
  12. Teletex??? Come on... but we are in retro so maybe I like the Spectrum Attribute low res look
  13. Translator disk? http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari-400-800-xl-xe-translator-_29943.html
  14. I always preferred super amok compared to 2600 berserk. It was just on my list as VIC classic. Nothing more.
  15. re: VIC game #1 on my list is Thorn Emi Submarine Commander as imho the VIC-20 version is by far better than the A8 version... and I played it to death... it was so intense...crashing on the ground... hearing sonar ping... and waiting for water bombs... then there is Typo Atack? (learning keyboard writing plus space invaders). Not to mention Black Hole, Predator by Tom Griner and maybe (ok... another sacrifice) Choplifter... again I find the VIC-20 version better... as most Jeff Minter games...
  16. aargh... typo... I ment i knew a lot of ppl who actually can sing the RRR song... now that's make it not better and I knew ppl who can sing the Donkey Kong start song ("how high can you get?") and Pac Man eat sound plus power pill and death sound... ok.ok.... I guess my wife will think i am mad
  17. yeah. got Radar Rat Race and Jupiter Lander on cart, too. and yes, both are in my "short" to do list... I really like JL... it was so "smooth"... and I always preferred the "big" version of RRR than the c64 one. btw. I dont know a lot of ppl who you can ring up late in the night and they sing the RRR song...
  18. that was on my list.... at some point.... maybe I should look again into it.
  19. 1st price? need to check ABBUC archive... now I need to have a look where can I find your "Tic Tac Toe" networking game on ST? just courious. just found this so far: http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=3810
