The 3D file engine might run on NTSC properly as it is not cycle exact effect. But I doubt the rest without glitches. Maybe torus and some other chunky fx. But demos often rely on cycles per frame available and right now I am not sure how many cycles an NTSC-PAL differs from PAL-PAL?

Is this the C64 attempt at AtariBlast?

I smiled.... Brits Talking -
Ok. So I understand on our lovely Atari we can use SEGA genesis pads? (And should not try them on my commodores) - 800 - 800 XL - 130 XE - 65XE with VBXE ?
-
thanks... I just think of having all those buttons triggering some nasty pins which they should not do... that was my fear that I blow some PIAs or POKEY.
-
Regarding genesis pad... can it blow up chips? What about 7800 2 button pad?

What is the difference to the 2005edition? -
Well... its a natural progression... we had those "simple" 80s style, then those 90s with Chunky 4x4 mode9 style, 00s started those "theme" like demos and now we are more into Amiga world... What made me really "wow" again when connecting and testing my demos on a 1084s and those 50 FPS effects kick out. nothing can compare 50 FPS fx on a CRT... forget TFT... that's why esp. C64 guys still stick to 50 FPS effects as much as possible. I tried that with the latest VBXE demo... the Chaos Zoomer was optimised to run in 50 FPS, the Plasma in the end and the Amiga Balls...
-
most non 50 fps effects could be working around as they rely on CPU power and not actually VBL time. So double or triple buffering. Thats why some fx of Numen work... some I doubt. (E.g. the vectors in the end)
-
Pal has more cpu cycles in VBlank period compared to NTSC (50 Frames per Second > 60 Frames per Second) so ppl like me Max out code wise to do as much as possible in that given time. Ergo cutting off 1/10 of cpu cycles cuts in code....

Yup. Some Amiga games used multiplexed Sprites for background. -

You just need to take care that it doesnt get a mess... good examples are on VIC20 most Tom Griner games... esp Predator. -

But then you can copy straight. Lda (sprite),y or lda sprite,x Sta (screen),y But then you can not overlap sprites. Even without background you can not avoid the eor clashes. Eor sprites are nice because draw them in again and they restore magically the background or prior screen state. Gremlins is a good example how it looks good. -

Insane at Nordlicht Demo by Desire and Insane
Heaven/TQA replied to Heaven/TQA's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I had long chats with Charlie and he really remembers all those small bits of code and of those days at Lucasarts. -
Desire and Insane presented their Atari XL entry at Nordlicht 2018 Demo party: Code by Axis and me Grafics by Jamon and Corel Music by Vedder and Triace Platform Atari XL/XE with VBXE PAL - tested on real HW with $D6xx VBXE and Lotharek's SIO2SD (fastloader with OPTION+START) The fractal flight is dedicated to Charlie Kellner who is the main coder of the 6502 engines of Rescue on Fractalus, Eidolon and Koronis Rift all coded in 1984-86s. Thanks for the insights you still remember after all those days. Kudos! dsr_ins_insane_at_nordlicht..xex

B1 nuclear Bomber... historically interesting how art reflected the reality

works flawless... thx.
-
Thx Paul, sounds good. will try later today. just want to make sure that it works "out of the box" for ppl without any Altirra knowledge. So your way could be perfect. I let you know.
-
i need to ship a standalone Altirra with my next release. Where can I see the ".ini" file? In a perfect world I would like to configure to the desired settings, copy/paste Altirra and .ini file and bundle it with my demo. Jac did it with his SillyPack. Or do I have to manually edit that ini file? another option would be save state file? but a file with ini-segments ($2e2) does not stop altirra (break at run adress) as its not $2e0... ideas/help?
