  1. the colour changes are just there to indicate where new gr.0 line starts...
  2. possible to write "SAVING" on screen instead of the colour flashes?
  3. hmmm... you are right... does 2600 version include tanks? just remember them in the 800 version...
  4. hahahaha... appologies... it's me... havent seen the attachment... damned.
  5. yup. but where is the attachment of the source code???? or am i blind in texas? (to say it with WASP )
  6. hi guys, you might help me... i am searching the whole stella archive for the river raid 2600 source code... the dig seems off the net so i can't get the source anymore... i want to look into the source to get an idea how they coded the "enemy" engines in terms of handling all the different enemies as they do quite vary... (planes, helicopters, tanks) and all have different attack modes... i have some ideas for my game Boinxx but would look into the code of river raid for inspiration before i put any code together. thanks!
  7. i would leave the "indication" out... looks like a bad crack instead of quality....
  8. i have bought both versions of the book 1.0 and 1.5... read it several times! very very good! and it's written by former Maniac writer (German multiplatform videogame magazine.... published more than 10 years now...) GET IT! i love that book...
  9. here it is for all who missed it... doc: http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/k_nadj/mode9++.html 40x40.zip
  10. oh...damned hang over from last night... schweinsteiger is not playing...forgot that... 12 Lehmann - 3 A. Friedrich, 17 Mertesacker, 4 Huth, 16 Hitzlsperger - 8 Frings - 10 Deisler, 13 Ballack, 19 B. Schneider - 22 Kuranyi, 20 Podolski - Trainer: Klinsmann vs 1 Dida - 13 Cicinho, 3 Lucio, 4 Roque Junior, 6 Gilberto - 5 Emerson, 11 Zé Roberto - 10 Ronaldinho, 8 Kaka - 7 Robinho, 9 Adriano - Trainer: Parreira well...i use to play brasil in Pro Evolution Soccer 4.... oh...back to thread... being little off topic...
  11. yup. boinxx looks far better with your advices... compared to the 1st versions... but it's interesting that you never mentioned ingame music or ingame gfx... i was (or am...) waiting for the typical "you have to use g2f" inside the game... and that's EXACTLY why i have put there the small g2f boinxx ingame logo... hehehe.... but nevermind any comments still welcome... 7 hours to go...Germany vs Brasil.... schweinsteiger vs kaka & adriano... ole.... (for our american's...soccer... )
  12. and to be honest... i dont give a f... about emkay's or whoever "advice" in coding... i am doing my stuff....oftern criitisised by taquart members and that's it... when you are coding and publishing stuff in the general public then you have to stay the critics...
  13. i am planning to release a vic-20 and a c64 version of boinxx...maybe in the year of 2010 but why not....1st the atari version.... played around with the 1st enemy code... btw. i will buy Reaxion from cronosoft just for sake...
  14. you last game? or your last on atari??? what about Blitz!? and other ideas you mentioned???
  15. better a finished game than no game... (re: super mario, boinxx, etc...)
  16. cafeman...well done the demo looks good. for all PAL users you have to switch atari800win into NTSC mode then it works... i like the gfx. just a small suggestion...as you seem to have font animation (?) for the waves at the water...why not animate the grass "zelda"-like as well? how many colours are you using per screen 4 or 5?
  17. http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/k_nadj/mode9++.html just in case someone needs more indepth info...
  18. mux, still want one... could be fun to code...and maybe there is a way to enhance existing games with small benefits of your upgrade... like GB & GBC software...
  19. gunstar, i was refering to an old thread of analmux where a dual gfx circuit was/is working in an 800... but could be double GTIA upgrade... for more colours...
  20. i would like to have an 800 in a chip like this c64 project... with a usb2native keyboard plugin... boxed like an 800-cart...on the other side you would have the 4 joystickports.... cool... and you could connect a standard pc keyboard to it... oh...and a sio port to connect drives etc.... ah... just dreaming... btw...it's cool how even nowadays things are discovered... the antic dual upgrade, the 65816 and all the USB stuff, even software wise... please remember g2f & TIP/HIP, RMT, crossassemblers, or think on the new trick used in Theta Music Composer 2.0 for a 40x40 display using the vscrol register and the internal antic cache.... and and and... all these things available back in 80s...and we had a same creative scene like the amiga scene was in terms of games etc...
  21. it would be interesting in schools...to have 8bits runnings in elementary school like LOGO in the past... so kids can't do things wrong, no harddisc crash etc... just fire up the machine and let them code... wasn't it fun to type in "BYE" and start the "sound test" in the selftest in shops? for me it was... or better poke 77,255 to start attract mode... "huj... colours are changing..." ...
  22. simply because its fun... i love my 8bit & 16 bit computers... and my consoles...why? simply switch on and it goes... and from coding point of view... everyone has the same hardware...so only your skills depend... doesn't matter if it's from marketing or from coding point of view... when i 1st wrote my 1st piece of code on my hacked PSX1... it was cool simply because the R3000 is similar to the "risc" 6502... and i got the same feeling like i had with my 1st demo on 800 back 1986... why can i remember now for more than 20 years 54280 (the c64 colour register... but could be wrong... ) or 36879 (of my VIC-20)... I don'T know... I am not a professional programmer (and never will be...) but love to create & write demos/games... even utilities in Quick Language on atari machines... (sector editor which was able to handle copy protected discs).... for me its pure fun and after some work i feel "free".... if you know what i mean... i never had the feeling on my PC... i tried Java, C, C++ etc but even the simplest things are complicated (maybe for me... ) i tried blitzbasic to get this kind of "old feeling"... that's better but still complicated... so i stick to my 800... just my 2 cents... ps. PCs are not fun...they are working slaves without a soul...
  23. ijor... isn't a nible 4 bits so the lower 4 bits of the colour register? (0-15) i mean if you write a small test DLI you can have the 256 rainbow colours on screen? so not 128... or am i wrong? i never understood these 128 colour discussions at all... ldx #0 loop stx $d40a stx $d01a stx $d018 inx jmp loop
  24. i mean... there is a 2600 port in progress... so why not a 800port?
