i miss a horizontal shooter like gradius for the 7800... where people say "wow"...
-
Andrew, that's exactly why I can't code everyday... working 10 hours min per day + private life + World of Warcraft (which i havent touched for nearly 2 weeks...) + Xbox live! + socialising...does not give too much free time...and for game coding you need as well passion and "mood" imho... so the progress in BD is amazing in such given short time frame... take a break...
-
ehm...we have of course 2005...
-
holy shit! awesome... just my 2 cents regarding the "is it cheating?"... no... it isnt... look... we @ taquart released Numen demo for atari800 with 320kb of ram... well... not a common configuration back in the 80s but who cares...we are 2006... and... to be very honest... all of us use modern dev tools...pc, cross assembler, emulators other debugg & dev tools... most of them would not be available back in 80s...except main frame machines for assembling and serial interfaces for data input... so what? i would say with all these new tools, PCs and modern programming knowledge make BD possible... in 80s nearly impossible.... thats my 2 cents... so in short... NO it's not cheating using a RAM cart + special self modifing code... consumers will buy a cart which actually works in a plain 2600... so what?

i still prefer a cart version with saves on the flash... (backup or not) simply because i have no 1050 connected... or maybe i can use my sio2pc setup... but still a simple 800xl + cart could be fun and kind of "console" approach... remember... would it not be possible to play AR on atari consoles like the xe game machines?
-
oh boys... Xebec... what about playing it in atari800win and make save states???? or like i did in the past... copy your character disc with a sector copier...so what? it's a game.... i mean you can connect your atari to your heart directly and maybe mark can incorporate a special logic into the cart where you get a heart attack when finally beating the dust... just kidding...

isnt it more like a violin than a flute?

Boinxx is a game under development for atari xl models with 64k... have a look on the link...

and analmux had a chance to meet eru few weeks ago... i never had the chance to meet them personally since 1996....

imho fox is one of the best coders around i know... it doesnt matter on which platform he is doing stuff (java, 6502, ARM (GBA), c++, ...) a real talent imho.
-
yes. i am member of taquart... but there is no byte of code inside by me in numen... i am not good enough... eru & fox are the 6502 wizzards... but i had some design comments and fx ideas like the HIP-bump effect where fox & eru said it's impossible to do HIP effects fast enough. this i heard nearly 1 year... and finally fox came up with code for the HIP effects... same goes to the transparency which the guys don't wanted to do... but finally i persuade them... eru is studing in netherlands at the moment, fox is/was working for microsoft in china (but should returned as he send me the packer for boinxx)... dracon is studing as well and doing a lot of g2f art for a8 scene in poland... me i am doing boinxx... numen code is existing since 1997...but it took another 5 years for final release.... scene wise i have seen some fox 1k or 256byte intros for forever party...
