I spent the first ten years of MtG as a hardcore player... many thousands of dollars spent. Sold off all the big stuff (Unlimited set, Arabian set, etc.) in 2003 for $2750. Still have a few things worth something that I'm probably going to sell soon.

Yeah, we have a place here like that... when they opened I went in and was excited to see a big stack of Atari carts. Picked up like three R3-4's I didn't have... then looked at the back and realized they wanted about $20 total. Put them back. I'm fine with a retail shop charging a little more -- clearly they have lots of overhead eBay sellers don't, and there's the convenience and lack of shipping cost. But more than $5 each for R4s and under is ridiculous. The guy here who has the most carts sells R1-3's at 3/$5, which I think is a good deal. He sometimes is a little high on rarer stuff, but not too bad.

Slurpee Video Game Cups Collection
pinball22 replied to Miss 2600's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
Do you know what all cups exist that you don't have? A quick Google didn't turn up a list, much to my surprise. -

Typing of the Dead. House of the Dead 2 is awesome, but making it so that you have to type to shoot turned it into one of my favorite games of all time. 90% of the time I've spent playing Dreamcast games has been this one, probably. -
eBay is almost pointless now.

BINs don't bother me... if they're ridiculous, they don't get bought. As someone said, look at completed auctions and you'll find out what the actual value of things is. And I think eBay is a pretty good way of determining the "retail price" of items that are no longer actually in stores, as it's essentially a perfect market environment -- almost everything is available, and people pay what they're willing to pay for those items. (Note that when I say "perfect" I mean as an economy, not that eBay itself is perfect -- clearly its policies have become increasingly stupid over time.) -
What is the best NES clone system available today?
pinball22 replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I like my Generation NEX... it works well, and the Famicom slot and wireless controllers are nice. It's not perfect, of course, but it fits my needs fine. -
For some reason I was under the impression that there were other NTSC Mangias (carts, at least) out there that were accepted as legit... is Marco's really the only one?

Did I miss a post where you explain why you're selling so much stuff lately? Have you only got smaller walls now? -

The shoe holder for controllers is a clever idea! I have all my consoles set up on a Metro rack and there are wire baskets hanging on the fronts of the shelves to hold controllers. -
I don't remember those, strangely... I was obsessed with Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man and always wanted any merchandise I could find. Made my parents buy me tons of the sticker packs, the cereal, the not-so-great ice cream bars, the lunchbox (which I still have... it holds my pencil collection, including the Pac/Ms. Pac pencils the machine at my school sold), anything. But I don't remember the vitamins.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
pinball22 replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Went out at lunch... was supposed to be a yard sale in the convention center parking lot today, but there wasn't. So I went to a nearby thrift instead... picked up Beany Bopper for $1.91 and Star Control for the Genesis CIB for $4.94. -
Considering SMB3 is about $7-9 on eBay and Super C is $8-12 and you got all that other stuff... yep, good deal.

I didn't realize those existed! Anybody here already have one or both? -
Wow, a bunch of good stuff in that lot... besides the black Demon Attack, there's QfQR, all those Telegames, sealed Kung-Fu Master, Skate Boardin' and Titlematch... $34 was a total steal.

Lotsa good stuff! So those Dr. Boys... they really only play a built-in game? Does the joystick port on the bottom let you control the game if you plug a stick into it? -
Sorry, I haven't got the magic to accomplish that.

I've always liked Steeplechase too. I've got one or two spare if anyone's looking.

Smatchmo, those Kraft controllers are cool, but be careful -- it's easy to break them there at that point where the stick is really narrow. I accidentally set a chair on one once and snapped it right off! -
