  1. Katamari Damacy. I had gotten frustrated with the next-to-last main level years ago and stopped playing, but then when my friends' 8-year-old son asked if he could try it out recently I got interested again and finally finished it. There's tons of objects I never got, of course... not sure if I'm going to try to hunt them all down or just move on to We Heart Katamari.

  2. Just finding an NTSC Glacier Patrol is pretty hard to do... jump on it unless the price is really out there.

It's funny that up until a few years ago, you could easily score a boxed Glacier Patrol directly from Telegames for just $15.

Yeah, I wish I'd done so... don't know why there are so few out there.

  3. It's the less-common label... Deadly Duck on one line with a border instead of two lines. I'm not sure which of the manuals is more common -- I've seen both the green and blue fairly often on eBay. And it's the nicest copy I've ever seen. But still more $ than I'd have expected.

  4. Picked up two Wavebird receivers at the local thrift today. Now all's I need are two actual Wavebirds to use them with.

Hey, at least you found the receivers first... much more likely to find the Wavebirds without them. Though I did find two different PS2 wireless controller receivers at a thrift recently with no controllers anywhere to be seen (and no names on them for me to know what brand they went with, so I didn't get them).

  5. Yep, the paddles with the Atari logo were the first ones that came with H6ers.

And I care about controllers, at least in the sense that I think it's nice to see all the original ones with a H6er... I hope to pick up an affordable pair of Sears driving controllers sometime for mine (already got the paddles; CX-10s with original Sears hex discs are not likely to show up at a price I'm willing to pay, unfortunately).

  6. You'd need a good plastic paint or dye. But now you've made me wonder what it would come out looking like if you threw a cart shell into a bucket of bleach... *considers sacrificing a Combat to find out*.

  7. That's really interesting... I've never actually played the pic version, but I played the text-label one tons back in the day (and watched my Mom play it even more... one of a handful of 2600 games she went through a period of being really obsessed with). I always thought the AI, while not that hard to beat, was reasonable on level 3 for something on the 2600. It's really fun to play against it on level 1... fairly often it will let you get it into a position where early in the game you can completely eliminate it.
