What is the highest feedback rating youhave ever seenon ebay
pinball22 replied to Atarian7's topic in Auction Central
It's amazing how much eBay sales have increased in the last few years... I remember them making a big deal about it when the first person got the original shooting star for 10K. -
Wow! That's an incredible find... Today I actually saw some Atari carts in the wild when I went pawnshopping at lunch... nothing I didn't have, though. It's getting so hard to find anything these days.

I've never really left it... sometimes I don't play as much, but I've either got the Atari or an emulator handy all the time. At my parents' house, as I said in the what happened to your original Atari, thread, there has been an Atari (first a Sears, then a Jr) hooked up and used on at least a weekly basis for about 25 years.

What 2600game do you grab when you haven't Atari'd in awhile
pinball22 replied to Kenwood's topic in Atari 2600
Pitfall II, Dark Cavern, Keystone Kapers, Kaboom!, HERO, or Atlantis. -
What happened to your Original Atari as a kid in 70-80's?
pinball22 replied to Kenwood's topic in Atari 2600
Mine was a Sears Tele-Games 6-switch (I think it was heavy, but I don't remember for sure.) When the 2600 Jrs came out, we got one and tossed out the Sears one, which had gone through a lot of abuse and soldering... the switches barely worked at that point. That one is still hooked up at my parents' house and has been used regularly for almost 20 years... my Mom plays Activision Bridge on it all the time. I bought another Jr. when I started college in 91 to play in my dorm room cause they were selling them for $20 or so at KB. That one is at my house now (it's not actually hooked up right this second because I need to do some rewiring to get all the systems in the bedroom (2600, N64, DC, PSX) hooked up.)) -
Thanks for the interest, everybody -- I think I've replied to everyone who sent me a PM. It's an original Tron, in the full-size funny-shaped cabinet. The light is working, though it currently seems to be causing an electronic hum. Since I've had several people express interest, I'm going to take some pics and put them up here later this week. Then once everybody's had a chance to see exactly how it is, I'll take offers.

That's a lot of consoles... and a lot of Combats. I'm not sure how many I've got right now. And as someone else said, there was a reason for Combat to be sold seperately, since the Sears consoles, which I had, came with Target Fun.

Please help! I'm looking for a game I used to play......
pinball22 replied to miss_ping's topic in Atari 2600
Glad to hear that was it... it's one of my favorite 2600 games! -
Yeah, while I find Galaga more fun, I think Galaxian has an edge over it in sound/graphics. The aliens have more interesting/memorable designs, I think, and the sound effects are great.

I've got two games I no longer want... a Tron and a Gate of Doom. The Tron is in decent shape, some wear on the right side art and a crack in the plastic around the screen. Works fine, screen is good, makes a hum that I think comes from the blacklight. The Gate of Doom is in bad shape. Speakers aren't hooked up, one joystick is broken, the picture is strange (may just need a cap kit or something, could be worse, I haven't looked into it a lot). The game does play fine, though. This could also be a good cheap cabinet for a Mame project. If anyone's interested, let me know. I live in Knoxville, TN, and would be willing to deliver nearby.

I enjoyed Red/Blue for a long time, but my favorite Pokemon game ever is Pokemon Snap for the N64... It's really fun trying to "catch" them all doing nice things for pictures.

I definitely agree... I spent a lot of time playing E.T. when it came out, and it doesn't deserve its reputation. I think a lot of people were turned off by falling in pits and having trouble getting out right away and never tried it long enough to realize it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.

Was the Coleco Gemini released outside of the USA?
pinball22 replied to nandystam's topic in Atari 2600
I know at least Skiing did... there's a version that says Skiing/Le Ski on the cart, though I can't seem to find a picture of one right now. I'm sure someone here owns one. -
Spacemaster X-7. I love this game... I got it for my birthday when I was a little kid and played it all the time. It's challenging, and has a difficulty level that increases, but at a reasonable pace. Dark Cavern. (You knew from my icon that I was going to say it.) It's a lot of fun, requires quite a bit of skill to be really good at (on the hard difficulty with the swivel-headed robots), and has the added challenge of limited ammo. Tapeworm. Yes, it's Snake, and everyone's played Snake for every platform since the abacus. But it's a really nice implementation of it... the graphics are cute, the walls and birds make it challenging, and the darkness level is a great touch. Frogs and Flies. No, it's not complicated, by any stretch of the imagination. But it IS fun, and a great test of timing. It's one of those games that's really great for two players. Not to mention the adorable firefly. Towering Inferno. I don't know if you can say this one is underrated, since I've heard a lot of people talk about how much they like it, but it's not as well-known as a lot of games, and it's always been one of my favorites.

So... I assume the label-less cart near the Bomb games is Wall Defender? And what's the one next to the CommaVid carts? Magicard? Video Life? And what about the one next to Mogul Maniac? (Yes, I spent too much time looking at the pics, but I was just so amazed by it all. )

I'm partial to the Quick Shot/Archer/whatever other names they had style, myself. The grip is really comfortable, and the buttons are a nice size.

The Insanely Great* Puzzle Game Thread
pinball22 replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
A few that haven't been mentioned here yet... Palamedes (NES) -- it's sort of Tetris with dice. Puzzle Pirates -- it's a MMORPG where you're a pirate, and you do piratey things by playing puzzle games. Pipe Dreams 3D (PSX) -- you can debate whether this is really a puzzle game, I guess, but I think it is. It's a nifty 3D update of the classic, and was only $9.99 new, so you should be able to pick it up cheap. -

*stares in awe at CPU's pic* I feel so inadequate... all I have is a loose Threshold. -
Your personal classic video game demons..

Throwing out the boxes to my 2600 games as a kid. I had kept them all at first, but they were piling up and I threw them out. Also, throwing out my Atari Age magazines at some point. -

To some extent that's just being a collector, and to some extent that's certainly OCD. I'd recommend seeing a behavior therapist -- I've been seeing one for my OCD and it's been very helpful.

Wow, congrats! I think I'd faint... I was pretty happy when I got a TNT Games one for $5. This makes me feel so much better about the hope of finding good stuff in the wild... I'm going to have to check out some thrift shops this weekend.

What's up with the Vulture Attacks in Canada? This find, and both the eBay auctions linked to... maybe I need to take a trip to Canada for some cartridge hunting!
