I'd like to see a 2d version of Homeworld play out better than the 3D version.

I totally agree with the first part, but I think there are just as many great 3D games as 2D. Just liking 2D is a limitation in itself, an not a million miles away from what these '3D only' kids are doing

 

I ment in 2D RPGs. FF6, Wild Arms, Chrono Trigger. All some of the best.

Goodluck in your search. There hasn't been a groundbreaking RPG since the FF series went 3D. They're all just a bunch of ripoffs now.
