  1. Has anyone bought the slightly updated version as reviewed by RetroCore on YouTube recently? Just wondering as it seems to be a good little system that I might considering going to should my PSP give up the ghost for any reason.
  2. With as much as you rattled off, I am pretty sure the community at large can give you a pass.
  3. This console is an absolute dumpster fire. I encourage people to seek other avenues of retro nostalgia, like the prototype images of the full size TheC64 that was recently released, or the upcoming consoles from Intellivision, Colectorvision, and/or Opcode. As Frank Drebin from Police Squad would say standing in front of a exploded fireworks store, "Nothing to see here."
  4. Yes! I am very stoked to see that OMNI will be bringing classic O2 games back to light. I liked my O2 a lot, and glad to see OMNI being a (somewhat) spiritual successor to that.
  5. Those old pictures, especially the Studio II with the TV that has rotary dials, are awesome!
  6. Actually, Nvidia was going to update the portable, but it was canceled and Nvidia went to work on the Nintendo Switch instead. Ah, what could have been... However, it is still a good little device and the Nvidia Shield TV with the updated controller is a good piece of kit, too. I am very much happy with my Nvidia Shield TV. Now, to just have some time to try and get the thing up and running with retro gaming goodness.
  7. The Nvidia Shield TV is pretty fascinating. I will say that only recently has the device gotten better as a streamer, although Roku, Amazon, and Apple still are better options in that regard as my Roku 3 (2013 model) is still up and running. Still, the Nvidia is a good little device that is quite capable and a lot more flexible than what Roku, Amazon, and Apple are offering. Also, regarding the controller, it is not too bad in my opinion, although I prefer the Xbox controller(s) over the others. However, I understand what you mean as even though it is good, it still could be a bit better.
  8. The Nvidia Shield TV has power in spades. I know I commented on one of your posts in another thread, but honestly the Nvidia Shield TV has plenty of horsepower to play PS1 games, I can guarantee it. While the PS1 is becoming more desirable and worthy of purchasing, it takes too much hacking and modding to really be worth the $100 you have to pay. But, I can see its appeal and I can understand if people want to pick it up.
  9. I, too, have a Nvidia Shield TV. I haven't set it up for retro gaming goodness yet. However, I have played the heck out of Real Racing 3 (a freenium game) and have enjoyed it immensely. You will enjoy it as it has really gotten to be a good, little all in one device.
  10. Very cool. I was just wondering if anything had been update since the latest version. Also, by reviewed I meant a physical review of the 2018 unit. I know there are lots for the 2016 and 2017 models, but haven't seen any for the 2018 model yet. I am sure it is (most likely) just like the 2016 and 2017 models, but opinions always vary.
  11. Definitely things are improving for the PS1 Classic. However, having to do all of these tweaks out of the box will probably turn off a lot of people, but increase interested with modders. Overall, this should be a success for Sony, but could've been a lot better, that's for sure.
  12. Personally, I enjoy the podcasts more than the videos and have listened to them while at work. However, if things aren't working out and you decided to wrap things up (for the podcast), I can understand that, too. Either way, keep up the good work!
  13. Agreed. If this can be hacked and broken wide open, definitely this will ramp up interest in the device. However, the damage is more or less done as others (The C64 Mini, Atari FB9, etc) make adding more games a lot easier and (arguably) come with more desirable games, too. Still, it should help sell the device, that's for sure.
  14. I saw this video as well. Needless to say, we all saw this coming. Still, the whole purpose of a mini or flashback type system to literally plug and play, and do so to good degree. It just seems the 'play' part is missing from this system, and that is a shame. Shoot, even AtGames has managed to right the ship to a vast degree this year as I saw that the deluxe FB9 comes with a 2GB SD card. Gee, you think that they don't know their system can be updated and loaded up with ROMs? Overall, this is a shoddy product and not worth $100 IMO.
  15. Agreed. Sony already had the resources to make a really good PS1 mini, but has (more or less) utterly failed. I never got that into the PS1, so I wasn't interested in this regardless. Still, I enjoy seeing good, well made retro products and am disappointed for others who are/were into the PS1 and have this turd of a classic console compared to the NES Classic, The 64 Mini, and even the new Atari Flashback 9 product(s).
  16. Billy Jack would whoop all of the Atari SA personnel asses without breaking a sweat. BTW, great movie reference and pull-in. I and the crew of the Satellite of Love approve .
  17. Agreed. Willie is a great dude and just gives his honest opinion without worrying about bean counters. There might be some backlash to the backlash regarding this product. At $100, this should be better than what it is. In regards to the (Atari) Flashback products, I have always thought they had more good qualities than bad, especially this years regular edition model sporting HDMI and the SD card slot for expandibility. However, like you eluded to, there are plenty of haters out there for the Flashbacks, that's for sure.
  18. I saw a review by Willie from ArcadeUSA. From what he was indicating, game play seemed fine for him as he didn't seem to have any issue with the games he played. However, his biggest complaints were the lack of an appropriate power source and the game selection. The only games he was interested in were 'Twisted Metal', 'Mr. Driller', 'Demolition Derby', and 'Resident Evil'. The others he really could care less about. He ended the video stating that he thought the system was worth $50. I guess if you don't know these games by heart and have never played and/or played them many, many years ago, it should be fine. But, considering the other ways to play PS1 games that are preferable to this, it doesn't appear to be worth it unless it goes on clearance to $50 or less. Just my opinion.
  19. Which makes this product quite shocking as Sony clearly has the resources and ability to make a really good PS1 mini. How they fouled up so badly is really a big question. Of course, being limited IP wise as opposed to what Nintendo, Sega, or even Atari can throw out there doesn't help. Still, for $100 it should be better than what it is. No doubt about it.
  20. Does anyone know how the 2018 FB portable works with the existing ROM pack available here? I would imagine so, but just thought I would ask. Also, will the ROM pack get updated/reviewed soon? Just wondering as I am strongly considering getting a FB portable and loading it up with ROMs as my PSP plays some 2600 games well, but others not so much. At least for me anyway. Thanks!
  21. Watched RGT85's review of the unit. He flat out called it trash and said that he wasn't even going to bother playing Resident Evil or MGS as all of the games he tried, with the exception of Rayman, stunk. However, I will try and watch Arcade USA's review tonight and also check out the Nostalgia Nerd's review when he posts it. However, I have a feeling most reviews will be on the negative side rather than positive.
