  1. Definitely looking forward to the reviews of this item. I know that the Nostalgia Nerd and RGT85 have confirmed that they are getting a unit to review, so I am sure we will know here really, really soon how these play 'en la vida real'.
  2. Definitely interested in this project and would push me to get a Jaguar somehow, someway. Please keep us posted.
  3. Me too. Besides, as it has been stated numerous times, there are tons as ways to play PS1 titles. Still, it is a shame that Sony is falling flat on their face with this product. Kinda surprising to a degree.
  4. Very nice! Sorry for the late response. I was out of the country for a bit.
  5. Yes, I do have to agree with you. Comparing the big boys (Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft) is not fair to Atari and the VCS. However, when you add everything up (as you did), the reasoning for this particular product to exist just doesn't make too much sense other than "me too!". But, others have done that in the past (Sony with the PS1 and Microsoft with the Xbox), too.
  6. This is really cool and I dig it. Granted, it wouldn't have taken off in the late 80s/early 90s due to the Gameboy and other competition (Game Gear, Lynx). But, if someone were to release that today given the current retro gaming market, I am sure people would swoop up to get that little thing for sure.
  7. The only reason to buy this is for collecting purposes and/or if one is a mega Atari fanboy. Otherwise, why anyone would choose a PS4, Xbox One S, and/or a Nvidia Shield TV over an Atari VCS (if it was out by now) would be a bit of a head-scratcher for sure.
  8. Okay, as a car guy myself, I gotta know what ride/'hot-rod' were you sporting back in the day? BTW, great little story and I really like your first-hand memories of gaming in the late70s and early 80s.
  9. Bummer! Sorry to hear that. Better luck next time.
  10. I agree. I know people love to hate on AtGames, but I think they do a pretty solid job. I loved the Intellivision FB and am strongly considering picking up a 2018 Atari FB handheld as the PSP I have plays some 2600 games really good, but others are real finicky (for me at least).
  11. So, now that sh*tshow that is/was the Gameband seems to be concluding, can you provide more details to the Miata-size turd of a project, or just continue to tease us with details you know but can't due to a NDA? Just wondering as I am sure that the story would be worth while to hear/read at least.
  12. Haters gonna hate. No doubt AtGames has done some questionable things. But, from what I can tell, this is a fairly solid product, and once the firmware is cracked to allow more ROMs from different systems, even better. We are all entitled to our opinions, but perhaps more constructive criticisms will go further with Bill and/or AtGames in general. Just a thought...
  13. Probably. I will be honest and haven't put any pen to paper to calculate how much it would cost to buy Atari, but it would be expensive, but I would imagine some company definitely could buy it and make good products. Shoot, I saw recent renditions of the classic Mattel handheld electronics (Baseball, Football I, Basketball I, and Hockey). So, if those can still be fired out there, surely some company with a clue could get the capital it needs to buy Atari and cash in on the retro-gaming craze. Again, most likely wishful thinking on my part, but still...
  14. I know this has been mentioned by me and others on another thread, but I honestly don't see why does AtGames or another (competent) retro gaming company buy Atari and utilize the IP it still has to really produce (in theory) some really great products? I know I am wishing in one hand here, but I really hope this can come true.
  15. Definitely this is another crowd-funding faux pas, inching ever closer to full-on scam IMO.
  16. Interesting. One would think Bill would have said something at this point, but perhaps they are doing a soft release and/or cannot officially comment on this product. Either way, the situation concerning the Sega Genesis mini is very intriguing to say the least.
  17. That blows! Imagine a EA Genesis mini edition. That would be awesome. But, good 'ole EA... What a bunch of wankers!
  18. I second this. It would make things a heck of a lot smooth and (probably) open up more opportunities for AtGames. Definitely the people running 'Atari' at the current moment shouldn't be, that's for sure.
  19. I honestly wish AtGames would just buy AtariSA, that way we could (in theory) get better products and not have a bunch of French (no disrespect) bozos with no clue running things.
  20. Probably, but give it a few years and eventually Dreamcast, Game Cube, PS2, and quite possible Saturn will have perfect emulations and micro-boards with enough horsepower to run them.
  21. I see what you're saying. Hopefully AtGames will address this better in the future, even thought it might not be too likely.
  22. I don't think there is a snow ball's chance in Hades that this arrives on time.
  23. Saw this article on Engadget: https://www.engadget.com/2018/10/30/playstation-classic-which-games-should-be-included/. Seems to summarize all of the critical points made in this thread about this particular product pretty well.
  24. Looking over this list, definitely they could have done a little bit more with the game selection in order to strengthen the line up a tad. Still, it is not too bad of a selection as things stand. Personally, though, I have many other means playing PS1 games, so this is not really a product for me. I am pretty sure that Sony will make good coin off of it. However, I don't know if it will be at the level of Nintendo's offerings. We will see pretty soon, though.
  25. I think one of the issues that Sony probably was/is facing is licensing. Nintendo's minis are built around their strong first party arsenal (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, etc) with the filler added in afterwards. Unfortunately, Sony does not have a big, huge first party range of games to build off of unlike Nintendo, Sega, or even Atari. Also, I agree with Curious Sofa on his Saturn mini assessment. Just build a unit around Sega Rally, Daytona USA, Virtual Fighter 2, Nights into Dream, Panzer Dragoon (all three titles), and then add the filler games. That thing would (probably) sell like hotcakes, especially in Japan.
