  1. Agreed. The Atari Jag was the true end of an era/company in my book.
  2. If there were odds in Vega$ for this, it would be heavily on the former, not the later.
  3. With that kind of equipment, I would think you don't need it unless it is for collector purposes as you seem to have the ability to play any C64 game you want by now.
  4. Meanwhile, this is going on with another Indiegogo campaign: https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/6/17433926/sinclair-zx-spectrum-vega-plus-indiegogo-campaign
  5. Agreed. How many consoles failed because the lack of an immediate killer app. It happened to the TurboGrafx-16, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, and will continue to do so to others as well who fail to heed this immediate need.
  6. You are not the only one with a big plate of crow in front of them. I have more own portion to eat; others too like RGT 85 who publicly stated that he was wrong. Definitely this is a very interesting and captivating story. Despite a lot of naysayers and industry vets saying this looked to be a flatout failure, it has defied the odds. But, like you said, now it becomes a 'Wait and See' approach, especially now that Atari SA will have the cash they sought to acquire. Let's just see if they can bring this console to fruition, or if it goes down in flames like the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega Plus. "Point well taken. As I said before, it's all a wait and see from this point. I will say the whole VCS campaign has been one of the most interesting and captivating stories for me over the past year. If you search my old posts you can see that I repeatedly expected the crowd funding to fail. That I openly called it a "nostalgia based cash run." And now I'm sitting here with this big plate of crow."
  7. Agreed. That hasn't been brought up in a long time, but the situations are eerily similar to one another.
  8. Sorry homie, but going from Kickstarter campaign to getting your goods into Target, Best Buy, etc is a success in my book. Perhaps 'massive success' is an overstatement, I am willing to admit that. However, the Atari VCS so far can't even carry the Ouya's jockstrap. Oh, and Ouya had a working prototype and UI, unlike the Atari VCS. I do hope the Atari VCS is a success and that the console that eventually comes into being is a good piece of kit. However, let's just see what happens and if Atari SA will deliver this product on time next year.
  9. Personally, I don't see the Atari VCS won't make it to Target, Best Buy, or any other major box store. The Ouya was a massive success and had a lot of potential and promise behind it. Almost kinda like the 3DO had many years ago. However, the micro-console and Android based gaming never took off they way so many people thought it would, hence mainstream support. A Linux based system like this won't be touched by a mainstream player. Hell, Steam has a tough enough time as it is even getting any space in Gamestop. Sorry, I just don't see the Atari VCS in stores at all.
  10. Exactly. Whether it be the OnLive Game system, Ouya, or Mad Catz M.O.J.O, all were/are actual, tangible hardware with the appropriate software. The biggest issues with Atari VCS is that their is no working prototype (that I know of and/or have seen reviewed) and we have zero knowledge of what the UI and other matters (like transactions) will be like. Sorry, but that are two things that needs to be know and shown a lot. So far, (practically) nothing on either.
  11. Thanks for answering all of my questions. I really appreciate it. Definitely I am liking this project more and more. I wish you and Intellivision the best of luck. I will definitely be following the development of this console and look forward to what October will bring.
  12. Honestly, I wouldn't think it would be a bad idea if AtGames bought Atari. Shoot, they have been the ones with the FB line to even give Atari SA any shot of success. Obviously, the name alone helps. However, if AtGames had control over Atari, I would think their products would get a lot better and with more content. Just my two cents.
  13. Very true. Nintendo was down after the Gamecube. Then, the Wii got it back into the fight only for the Big N to go down once again with the Wii U. However, now they are back in the (console) fight with the Switch. Regardless, Nintendo has long dominated the handheld scene with the PSP putting up a good fight. The Vita, while a good machine, hasn't really done anything against the 2DS/3DS line at all.
  14. Me too. This looks a thousand times more legit than what Atari SA is doing. Time will tell how this new project will go. Hopefully they are successful as it would be nice to have some new Intellivisions running around. Truly what is 'old' is 'new' again.
  15. Like Bill and many others have stated, outside of the name there is nothing really special about this system thus far. Also, considering how many crowd-funded campaigns have crashed and burned, I really hesitant to go with something even if working prototypes have been given out to reviewers a la the Dreamcade Replay. Now that looks like something to get behind if it works as they promised it should. With this product, it does nothing that my Nvidia Shield TV can't do already. Sorry, I wish them luck, and will continue to keep tabs on this, but I am not going to put any money in Vega$ for them to succeed.
  16. Thanks for being open to questions. I really appreciate it. So, here are my questions going forward. They are: 1) Why have an new/updated Intellivision console now? 2) Will this new console squelch any future INTV FB systems with AtGames? 3) Come October, will we have a production ready console at that time, or just a prototype iteration of some kind? 4) What is the price range of this new console? I imagine the $100 to $150 range, but curious. I know that these questions will probably get answered at some point in time, but I know Intellivision has tried to do things the right way for a long time know, and I hope that it continues to be the case with this new venture.
  17. I don't think we should be too shocked that the goal has already been surpassed and/or smashed. Sorry, but $319 for a console, two controllers, and 100 games from the 70s/80s is not a good deal IMO. But, I guess there a lot of people who have the dough to spend, so good for them. At this point, we gotta give credit to AtariSA as it looks as if their "pre-order" campaign will be a tremendous and overwhelming success. Of course, let's just see if they can bring everything to fruition and in the time-frame they are stating.
  18. Oh, it is nice to see Intellivision throw their hat into the ring. It adds excitement to the retro-gaming scene. However, I am speculative as well and it also strikes me along the "me too!" lines as well. Still, it looks like they have their ship together more than others at this point. But, let's see what October brings and if they are can bring what they are promising to the table.
  19. Agreed. It seems a lot more tuning is required now and more so probably will be required in the future. Hopefully, that means there will be a lot more products available too.
  20. Agreed. Intellivision looks like they have their stuff together by providing (for the most part) a clear vision of what their new console will and/or will not be. The Atari VCS is close to launching, and we still don't know exactly what it does, what it is for, etc. Sorry, but this is one launch that is destined to explode on the launchpad. Actually, too late, it already did once didn't it.
  21. Both projects look interesting and I hopeful that both come to fruition. I wish both CollectorVision and Opcode the best of luck going forward. I think it is important to note that devices for playing ColecoVision cartridges is steadily declining, and having new products that allow that happen is a win-win for everyone. However, I hope that both are able to work out things amicably as I would think both could help to improve and strengthen each other's project. But, there is nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree and going each other's separate ways. That is perfectly understandable as well.
  22. Truly what is 'old' is 'new' again. I, too, signed up and want to see what becomes of this project. I am still tracking the Collectorvision and OpCode ColecoVision gaming consoles, although it seems both now are squabbling with one another instead of working together to enhance the other's project. Oh well, retro gaming definitely is becoming more and more mainstream. Let's see what the Intellivision crew cooks up and how that fits into the grand gaming scheme of things.
  23. I can dig it. That would be pretty sweet if you had any 12 games you wanted loaded onto the system. I can definitely be behind that. Regarding your list, that is pretty solid too. No criticism from me. There are some really good titles there. However, I am afraid the 'official' version will have such staples like Ocarina of Time, Waverunner 64, Super Mario 64, etc. Still, I like the custom idea a heck of a lot.
  24. Agreed. If it is the N64 Mini, I wonder how many games and what specific games will come on it. Hopefully it is a good variety and not a low count like 12 or something.
