  1. I tried asking this in the discord but it ended up getting buried. Anyways, I dumped all of my carts using Copy SNES recently and the roms and their saves all seem to work perfectly on emulators and sd2snes. The only issue is the SRM file dumped from my Stunt Race FX doesn't seem to contain my save data. I tried dumping it several times, and using a number of different emulators but it always just loads the game as if there were no SRM file. Anyone else having issues with this?
  2. Those are all very real problems that affect modern consoles, but I think if Analogue is actually planning on making an FPGA Genesis they're going to need some bells and whistles. I love the Super Nt but I'm not going to rebuy every system they put out in FPGA form unless it can do things that the OG console can't. I think Analogue know what they're doing though and whatever they do next will probably blow us away.
  3. Listen up Analogue - the future of aftermarket retro gaming consoles is internet connectivity. Think of the possibilities, play roms from a shared folder on your PC, download and apply IPS patches while browsing right on the console, "scrape" box art and metadata for games, scoreboards, net-play? discord app???
  4. I don't want more units under my TV. I hope Analogue's next project replaces several older consoles at once. Ideally I'd like to be able to switch between Genesis/SNES/NES etc without even getting off the couch.
  5. If Analogue wants to suck endless money out of us they should create a service similar to what X-band was back in the day. It would be a lot easier to pull off now than in the mid '90s.
  6. I have both and the D-pad is identical as far as I can tell. I do occasionally encounter accidental diagonals on both but it's not very frequent.
  7. I hereby give Analogue permission to use my incredible design and all I ask in return is a shout out and maybe a free one.
  8. I think whatever Analogue does next, we won't see it coming. It'll be something out of left field. They're not just gonna keep pumping out $200 FPGA clone systems of every 16 bit console each time with diminishing interest.
  9. The next step in convenience would be a console that syncs to a folder on your PC through WiFi. Drag and drop the roms in there. Firmware updates could be automatic. No SD card needed. How about built in scraping of box art from the games database. This would actually look cool using the SNES's limited resolution and color palette. I guess someone would have to figure out a way for the SNES to decode JPEGS on the fly, or else create a new database of binary image data that could be interpreted by the SNES. Maybe built in Bluetooth for 5 controllers. No retro receivers needed. Call me in 10 years when I can get something like that that's not running retro pie.
  10. We need to get you up to speed on this.. Basically the plans for the Zimba 3000 is on (indefinite) hiatus. Kevtris partnered with Analogue and developed the Analogue NT mini which utilities his NES/famicom core and released many of his 8-bit cores on a jailbreak firmware. This unit is out of stock and most likely won't be in stock again anytime soon if at all. Next Kevtris was hired to produce a SNES core and the Analogue Super NT launched earlier this month. It's looking like this one is only going to support the SNES core, but who knows. This unit has already nearly sold out it's second run so if you want one get on it. Did I miss anything?
  11. I just hope Analogue gives us some kinda multi-console next. I really hate the mess I have under the TV.
  12. I think people unfairly dump on some of these clone systems. While I've never been impressed with a NOAC, I think the SNES side of the Retro Duo is solid. I've had mine for 9 years and I've never encountered behavior inconsistent with a real SNES. Every game/device I've ever thrown at it just works completely, including Star Fox 2 and Unholy Night. With OEM controllers I can barely tell the difference. The only thing I can notice is that the sound quality is definitely worse, but it's certainly acceptable. And no I'm not a Retrobit employee. In terms of build quality, A/V quality and customizability the Super NT blows the other clones out of the water for sure but I'm not so quick to dismiss them outright.
  13. How do SNES on a chip clones work? Is it basically the same as an FPGA except not reprogrammable?
  14. https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&s=yihacks
  15. The main reason I want to see Super FX/SA-1 implemented on the SNT or SD2SNES is not so I can play the original games. I own all the ones I want and I've played them to death already. I'd really like to be able to play all the hacks for Yoshi's Island and and Super Mario World (some of which utilize the SA-1). I guess SNES9X will have to suffice for those ones for now.
  16. Speaking of removing the PC from the equation.. How do you guys charge your wireless controllers? Can i connect it to my TV's usb port or a phone charger plugged into the wall? I'm afraid to try until I know that will work and google wasn't any help.
  17. Pretty sure in the case of the polymega the modules won't contain anything other than controller and pin adapters. The base unit itself will handle everything. It's just gonna be running emulators anyways, although they claim to be building their own optimized emulators.
  18. I was following polymega very closely until the Super NT was announced and I lost interest. I still might pickup a polymega if they ever end up releasing the thing. The 'module' approach is really the only way to keep a console clean looking and support different controllers and cart adapters. I'd really like to see Analogue do a designated combo console, and not just a core store added to a single purpose unit. Something like a retron 5 but high quality.
  19. I have a question for Kevtris. Do you want us reporting bugs found in unlicensed games and repro carts or are those not really a priority? Or is the end goal to handle any and all software exactly how an original SNES would?
  20. I just updated to the official firmware 4.1 and started up Super Turrican Directors Cut and immediately noticed lots of graphical glitches that weren't happening with the factory firmware. Invisible enemies and explosions not appearing. Anyone else seeing this? Edit: appears to be working fine right now. Maybe I encountered a small bug in the games code
  21. Think I'm gonna hold off on installing any jailbreak firmware until I see something done that the SD2SNES can't already do. I'm more interested in the official updates for now.
  22. I don't know if this has been reported yet, but Unholy Night Darkness Hunters hangs after the first two screens with the music still playing. I tried it via SD2SNES as well as the original cartridge. I'm still using the factory firmware however. I will update to the latest version tomorrow and see if this problem persists. I've found this game to occasionally lockup on original hardware as well, I think it was rushed or something. Which is a shame because I really wanted to get behind it.
  23. Yeah GBA and SNES's library belong on the same machine imo. One day..
  24. On a serious note though, consider that the playstation's serial port never had any official addons, but more recently a flash cart was developed that utilized it. Not including that SNES expansion port has kinda got me wondering what we could be missing out on in the future.
