Point and Click Adventure Games
FOX2600 replied to Classic Pac's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If you have a 3DS or DS I highly recommend you play Hotel Dusk room 215 on DS and James Noir Hollywood crimes on 3DS. While theyre both somewhat in the point and click genres, Hotel dusk has a visual novel aspect (you actually turn your DS sideways to hold it like a book) and Hollywood crimes is focused on puzzle solving, but theyre great games! -
Just got my CDi delivered along with Tetris, Pinball, and video speedway, I have to say I enjoyed all 3, especially Tetris! After many years of wanting the console Im finally a proud CDi owner 😛

My apologies ahead of time if this is a dumb question, but Im not much of a tech person, just a guy who loves games! After a quick google search and looking thru other forums I cant really find the answer Im looking for, I may not be looking hard enough... So obviously my PAL CDi 450 on my TV is displaying in black and white, which appears to be a common problem with some consoles, is there anyway I can get it to display in color? Im seeing these PAL to NTSC composite converters on amazon and eBay, would this correct the issue? Thanks AtariAge!

with no physical games to collect with it, what a boring collectible. There are Pong units that are more collectible and will be more valuable than this thing.

In for a surprise...

😂😂😂😂😂 You were the only one to reply, and I think now I know why. This image must sum it all up in a nut shell, or a football. Im sure ol Pat the NES Punk will have a recap soon, he always has a good analysis when covering these topics.

What’s up with goodwill?
FOX2600 replied to FOX2600's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Yes it is, just the console no cables and 2 controllers. Id agree with that its not a terrible deal. Its still there, Ill leave it for the bigger Genesis fan, Im just a very casual one. -
I was advised to read thru the last 30 days of this thread, but I dont have the time. Anyone feel like giving me a bullet point recap who knows this thread well starting with: New Atari console that Atari box thread created and John Hancock shows interest in what it could be (love ya John) and so on and so forth. With all these recent developments and back & forths Id love to be caught up to speed, even a quick general overview would be great, thanks all. 😄

What’s up with goodwill?
FOX2600 replied to FOX2600's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Id like to think theres more collectors out there or casual gamers, especially now, that just want to find a FAIR deal and bring something home, but yes with that comes resellers. I dont think everything should be priced at 2 bucks, but fair. Which brings me back to my original question is that even a fair price for that flashback? But as our hobby and passion goes its as much as someone is willing to pay... -
Saw the newest genesis flashback with 2 controllers (loose, no box) being sold at goodwill for $35 bucks. I dont know, is that a good deal? Seems pricy... would you buy it? Anyways didnt know where to start this topic here or the genesis section or somewhere else but decided here. Goodwill isnt good though lol. But Ive seen all sorts of thrift stores, the ones were everything is super super cheap to the ones where its double eBay price. I hope the cheap thrift stores are in your town!

Also jakks plug and plays were to the 2000s that tiger handhelds were to the 90s And here we are in the late 2010s where kids as young as 2 are playing on tablets with games like roblox and Minecraft clones... damn weve come a long way, what will the 2020s and beyond bring? Years from now when all these kids are grown are they going to be nostalgic for old mobile devices that still have downloads of the games they played as kids and buying them on eBay? lol... Safe to say mobile and digital gaming will be a big part of the future. Anyways sorry for changing the subject so yeah back to plug and plays, anyone remember the TV boy, the first plug and play 😁

High School Musical 3.... Im being serious the hub world is a country club resort thats open world sandbox style where you can drive a golf cart around 😂 Its the little things in life ya know?

Porkys and Alien. Other than 2600, I enjoy Color-a-Dinosaur, Taboo: the sixth sense, and Home Alone on NES haha

Wow what a great thread and I couldnt agree more with OP. Besides my 2600 which is of course RF on CRT, I actually prefer all my systems PS2 and prior thru composite on CRT, besides systems that were only RF obviusoly. I really dont mind composite PS3 on a hdtv and PS2 on crt or hd with composite I can go either way. I really never understood the whole hating composite thing. If were fans of and playing the original games and hardware, whats wrong with being fans with how we originally played them, for me personally theres no there way. Whatever the stock or generic or out of the box way to play these systems to me is the the best and most authentic experience. Let me add though I adore those guys over at My Life in Gaming and love their videos, very neat stuff and I love learning about the evolution of video quality and how to get the best and what not and what consoles, games and TVs are capable of, but, its just not for me🙂 Game however you want to!!! Long live composite and CRTs 😂

Thank you for a detailed and informing response. This is why I love AtariAge and the great intelligent friendly people here such as yourself and the many many others. I hope what I said at the end wasnt taken the wrong way, absoulutely 1000% percent shady business practices are not cool (gizmondo and coleco chameleon come to mind) I was just saying I love hardware, no matter what it is, and when these units get out into the world (and hopefully dont get destroyed and almost become extinct like the C64GS almost did supposedly lol) Im forever facisanated With them and the stories behind them, apart of history. I will be researching this thread like you said to do and keep an eye on it, thanks!

I have not read thru this thread, at all, but something is telling me this whole Ataribox thing (I dont think I can bring myself to call it the VCS, even though I only refer to the original as the 2600) has split the community, judging by the very successful indiegogo and prominent you tuber reactions. I guess the thing in my mind is, do Atari fans love their platform so much they want to see it evolve into the future (which honestly isnt the newest flashback and eventually(?) the retron77 doing?) Or is it perfectly fine, fit, and snug where it remains today cherished for being one the most (if not THE most) iconic retro, and I emphasize retro, consoles of all time? I can see both sides of the argument, approaching the modern take cautiously but identifying with the latter more so. This is all just confusing, but what a ride!😋 But let me just add, as a lover of video games, like we all are here, why were here, and we all share.... every single piece of hardware since thats ever been released, from Tennis for two, to the brown box/odyssey, to hundreds (thousands?) of Pong units of the 70s, to the 8-bit era, to the dataship 1200, the view master interactive vision, the Philips CDi, the PlayStation, PS3, numerous famiclones being produced today, and beyond.... I cant help but being excited for any system being released and forever being apart of history.

I know Nintendo age might be a better place for this thread but I just think the community here at AtariAge is so lovely! If there already is an "official" N64 thread can someone please point me in the right direction? Or how do you guys feel about starting a new thread here? Anyone want to start with thoughts on the new brawler64 controller? Great reviews online by MetalJesusRocks and the immortal John Hancock.
-
Just any kind of repro or homebrew of the game that's ever existed, just want a physical cart in my collection, I'm a big Star Wars, Jedi, Ewoks fan haha!
-
Thank you very much for showing me that thread! Sent him a message
-
Do you still have an Ewok adventure? Would like to buy one, thanks!

Very cool John. I love SPACE SHUTTLE, no other game like it on the system I'm aware of, a true simulator, wish I had the overlay for the console. I also love skiing, could play that all day. It's funny that ghostbusters on 2600 is almost the same game on NES, it's not a bad game for 2600 standards, but pretty lame for NES lol.

Intros and theme songs (and sometimes full episodes) to long forgotten shows, movies, and cartoons, Ghost/clown pranks, stolen bike/package pranks, Immortal John Hancock, guys who buy cheap exotic cars then list all the problems they had by buying the cheap ones, Ben Heck, muscle car/Supercar fails, burnout fails, instant justice/instant karma, Angry heavy metal moments, Honest Trailers, How bad is (Bad movies)?...
-
But that said, to watch my shows, movies, and series, TV (DISH) is still the way better option.
