I was in touch with him by email last week, he knows about 8bit-slicks.

If the game takes off, can people here at Atariage help organize such a retail package launch? It sure would be nice to earn a little from all the hard work I put into this! :-)
-
Do you plan to produce another batch soon? If the game is received as well as I hope, you may get quite a few inquiries... For Altirra setup, see: http://8bit-slicks.com/?topic=how-to-setup-altirra-with-dragoncart

I sent an email yesterday, did you receive it?

Ah Ah! That picture was taken only 4 years ago, I am aging very gracefully!

About 10 years ago I was lead programmer for the online game "Savage XR". I got my experience in network programming back in those days.

Thanks for the feedback DOC! Programming the Atari port from C64 was tough, seeing as there is no COLORRAM. The XLPaint flicker mode was the best I could manage, 5 colors were just not enough for this game. I know some people have said don't use interlace, but for those people there is the B/W mode which shows only the levels of grey. And by the way... I use this SCART to HDMI converter at home to display on my LCD, and it completely filters out the flicker: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152786986611?hash=item2392d06673:g:yjsAAOSwevdaCrTl

Sadly, you were one of only 2 people experiencing time-out issues... Anyhow, here are the results of the first test session: http://8bit-slicks.com/?page_id=207

The testing session has been a great success, thanks to all who joined! I will polish the game a little more this week, and organize another testing session next week-end.
-
I will organize another round for USA based testers. How about 10am Eastern time?

Help! add music format sap (mads)
8bit-Dude replied to ascrnet's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Thanks for the good advice, it seems that SAP relocation takes quite a bit of effort. I use CC65 for my game, so I keep having to relocate the music as the game grows and I try to use every single bit of memory. -
Help! add music format sap (mads)
8bit-Dude replied to ascrnet's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Xuel, I have another question: In cases where I have an RMT (Raster Music Tracker) file, I can use RMT to output a stripped RMT file to an address of my choice. Is there a way to use RMT to ouput a SAP file at the address of my choice? (even if I load a relocated RMT stripped file, the SAP files are always output to the same address in the range 3000-4FFF). -
I got my own DragonCart for testing about 6 months ago, from Mark Dusko. You should enquire from him directly, maybe he's got some spares.
-
I updated the post, you need 800XL + DragonCart minimum. Europe time is no problem, we can arrange something.

And some comparison screenshots...

I am pleased to announce that 8bit-slicks, a cross-platform online racing game for the C64 and Atari XL/XE, will be released in the first half of 2018. The game features up-to 4 players (local and online), 10 maps, and a competitive ranking ladder. It is compatible with the RR-Net and DragonCart hardware for online play (VICE and Altirra emulation is compatible). Register your account now, as I will release the game through a closed beta by progressively increasing the number of players, to quickly find and fix issues with the gameserver (see: Closed-Beta) Watch YouTube Promo Video:

Could you kindly produce a blank atr of 360Kb, with only XBIOS.SYS on the image? (I can't manage to produce one myself... :-( )
-
I am also interested in this topic. I digged this up, quite by chance: http://rfk7800.sourceforge.net/

Hey xxl, I am back around again. Is it possible to create a larger bootable ATR (i.e 360KB)? The data for my game is quite large, I am already at ~280KB... I would like to keep everything on 1 disc, which people can load in Altirra, or via an SD card interface.
