1. Roms get updated. Mame gets updated. Just download the new roms. It's been this way since 1996 or so
2. A virtual console isn't collectible. I mean, it's great and all, but there's that "other" aspect that I think most people here focus on, and that's having original hardware.
3. I think we all need to pony up and help buy Nukey a Cuttle or Crok cart. I mean come on if ever there was a guy in the 2600 enthusiast community who deserved one as a gift, it's him
4. Hey you were the one who put "Smurfs STD" Come on man, that's funny
5. And that's exactly what I said someone would say. The problem isn't that I haven't played enought games, the problem will come when I play games you like, and may, or may not like them. I'll still get the same response either way, what I play/like is completely irrelevant to the responce I will recieve. Exactly, and this is what I'm talking about, the DS has a perfect SNES style pad, and yet, few games use THAT to it's POTENTIAL. IMO, the DS has so far, in my experiance, been hurt by the fact that apparently, game makers feel some obligation to useing the touch screen, and will sacrifice the games controlls to do it. Tell me, in a FPS, how hard would it be, if you had to shoot someone on the screen by pointing at them? Kind of ruins it for me. Inversion is totally possible in the options menu. As is stylus sensitivity, left handed play and even the option to use the action buttons as looking (although I don't recommend it). Well, if it's available, I haven't found a way to do it. As I said, through the options, I can find an inversion setting, but only if I'm useing the touch screen. Maybe I'ms ome sort of dumbass, but I've tried everything I can think of, and still haven't pulled it off. Not to anyone in particular.... I still, to this day, don't see what the facination is with the touch screen, I've done that since before video games existe. It's called Pen and Paper (by the way, befor systems got advanced enough to do them, that was the only way to play RPG's) Somehow, this seems more a step back for me, than a step forward. Nice that it's there, not nice that it's required when the buttons do the same thing, just as good. So go play something else.. what's the problem here?
6. Sorry-- but concerning the new landers . They're still quite a step away from the arcade original look. The legs need to be converged more like a tri-pod I haven't actually seen the game via emulator at all yet, but just judging purely by the screenshots, I like the landers they have now (the screenshots on top of the 3rd page) better than the ones you have in your screenshot.. theirs seems to match the arcade a little more. But then again, like I said I haven't tried either via actual gameplay
7. Well sure you can. That flip a piece indefinitely mechanic you mentioned works great as a way to "pause" the game while you watch the footage
8. Anyone making offers for it is trying to rob the seller, as they rightly expect it will go much higher than their offer before the auction ends. These offer makers are scum. There, I said it. It is reprehensible, it is unfair to the seller, other bidders, and even to eBay as they deserve the final value fee the item brings, fair and square. The offer maker gets a steal and everyone else gets screwed. I don't see how they can justify it. Go whistle blowers
9. And... if you did it correctly on your last life, you would be rewarded 255 extra lives on most machines.
10. It's just the way it goes. The leading players get crap items, the trailing players get the real good stuff. It's not racing.. it's Mario Kart. That's the game And of course items aren't 'be all end all'. Getting a Bullet Bill or spiked shell when you're in last doesn't mean you're going to win. The items really mix it up and that's the fun of the game.
11. Nothing wrong with this.. Pinball tables have all sorts of themes. Hello... Dr. Who, Adamms Family, Playboy, Flash Gordon, Defender, Terminator 2, X-Files.. you could almost go on forever. Granted this aint a real pinball machine... but still I'm actually interested in that new Muppet Pinball Mayhem to be quite honest.. got decent scores and the playfields looks kinda fun
12. Here's the deal with Jr. Pacman. You know the speed hack that you see on most Ms. Pacs these days? Well the very same speedup does WONDERS to Jr. Pacman. It makes it infinitely more playable and enjoyable since the speed lends itself well to the larger mazes. It's still challenging too! Try it out sometime in Mame. Lots of arcade collectors I know who have a Jr. Pac put in the hack as well.. Anyway I know Nukey made a 5200 version with a sped up Jr. Pac not all that long ago. The 2600 version is already pretty speedy in and of itself all around.. I wonder if a speed boost though on that would help out at all.. hmmmmm
13. Sure.. find lots of high scores from people here and tips when we did the high score run for the game of course http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65975
14. Hey I didn't spoil anything.. I merely made a guess. I still don't know what games are on there.. hence me asking someone to spill the beans. As far as my idea, I had zero input into that idea and it was just my logical reasoning "what would they hide"?
15. /me bets it's Warlords. But cmon.. spill the damn beans already. Who cares
16. Ah, THAT's my problem. I didn't look in the toy dept. Target (where I usually shop) sometimes puts the all-in-one joysticks in BOTH departments, but the Flashback has always been in electronics with the other video game systems. 913085 Well you figure, the single very first post in this thread says...
17. Wow yeah.. I was a pure Sears dude back in the day and never saw that. 70's "fun" artwork rocks
18. $3.50 sounds way more than 70-90% off.. I'm a gonna go check!
19. 902987 Who the heck complains about flicker in a 2600 game. Flicker is part of the territory!
20. I have now decided that Pacman (Atari 82).atr is the superior version simply because of the accuracy of the sounds Is there any chance to HACK that sound into the Atari 5200 version. If so THAT would be the definitive of 8-Bit Pacman with 1. Accurate Sound, and; 2. Intermissions
21. Again.. Keita is frequently on #rgvc. Although usually idle, I did communicate with him not all that long ago (maybe in Feb?). He's in Japan a lot these days so the best times to catch him are the off-hours there
