What was your first video game system ever??
Major_Havoc replied to vintagegamer89's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Easy.. the Telstar Colortron. Used 2 9 volt batteries, one for sound and one for video. Since batteries were expensive the sound was often the first thing to be neglected I remember one time we splurged and got both batteries and was shocked to hear the sound as it had been so long and I had gotten accustomed to none -
I just don't see what's so funny about the photo.. with the exception of Mitchell's dorky "15 bazillion" centipede shirt, the rest are wearing regular old t-shirts & jackets that could easily pass today. Hairstyles are pretty contemporary too, even in 2004. What's so funny?

http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mamechd.htm They are usually very large. And for the most part run too slowly (at least on my pc ) to be playable.

zip it up and simply attach it to a post... (the "add attachment" button on the compose screen) -
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Major_Havoc replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
OK I finally opened my copy and am playing this strictly single player. Are there any Zelda fans who have yet to play this? It really does kick ass! If I had realized how much it felt like SNES Zelda I would've opened it up a lot sooner. I'll probably never play it multiplayer, but at this point I dont feel like I'm missing out on too much.. it's very fun single player -
Woops! Sorry, was a simple misread of the topic

I really don't care about the flicker. Heck, it's the vcs and it's expected. But NUKEY!!! Oh man NovaXpress is right when he says the SIMPLE change of just the colors MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. Everyone here try it? All he did was change the colors and VCS Pacman magically transforms into PACMAN. Or at least what the market would have realistically expected of a VCS Pacman when the game was released. I mean it's still the same game, but the aesthetic appeal makes all the difference. I'm sure that if the game was released with just those simple colors it would have made a world of difference in the way the kids of the day and history see the game. It would have been seen as the VCS version of Pacman proper. i.e. flawed but it is what it is for the vcs. But instead it's looked at as something far and away from what was expected. Someone outta post a screenshot

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Major_Havoc replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I haven't even opened my box yet. I gotta finish Mario vs. DK first -
Yep. I bought both at their release. The SNES came out later of course. But anyway, it was always good to go to the store and take my choice of whatever "hot" game came out whether it was for the TG-16, Genny, SNES, Lynx or Gameboy
-
I tried man.. but the game is just.. well.... very very DRY. I'm trying to be descriptive here without outright just saying "it sucks". But maybe that would be more accurate. If you can get it for a discount, I guess go for it. But you'll see.....

Check your help options which I think comes up if you either press start or x. Anyway there are several display filters you can implement. I forget what is the key combination to cycle through them (back+y? I forget.. so you'll have to read it ) but all clones and revisions should be able to show up. I know they show on mine

I've always said that Freeway was a fat turd (that and Barnstorming)Actually it's one of the games where I first felt "ripped off" and burned when I finally got it home. The graphics and sound were nice but they quickly wore thin and when I think about it, that's the ONE game that gave me an overall impression of Activision as a cheapo company.. something I still think subconciously!! p.s. I also am of the opinion Frogger came out before Freeway. At least when I bought it, I KNOW my motivation was because "it looks like Frogger". And yes, when PB Frogger came out I snagged that too On the other hand Demon Attack blew me away so much that I still think of Imagic as the true wizards of the VCS.. again, something I still subconciously think to this day So I recommend Demon Attack and Frogger Both are easy to find, are cheap, and easily rank as some of the top games for the 2600

How many email addys does one person need...
Major_Havoc replied to video game addict's topic in Auction Central
I dunno but I probably have over 30+ email addresses spread out over web clients (Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, Google), my work exchange servers (2 servers ), 15 domains w/ Imail servers, and of course from external ISP's (Uswest, Qwest, Comcast), and my own server at home. 'course I only basically use one but to answer your question.. it's never enough! -
Actually it looks like redpoint1500 sniped it pretty good right there at the end Although he did bid 3 minutes earlier at $23 and was probably surpised himself to see his bid get pecked at and then finally slowly overtaken.. thus forcing the snipe. But you're right.. pretty pricey!

How many GameBoys will I buy before I'm satisfied?!
Major_Havoc replied to Jess Ragan's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I just buy the MAJOR revisions. So I got the brick but didn't care for the gb-pocket. Then the GBC because it was COLOR. Then of course the GBA, then of course the GBA-SP. I don't count the Super Gameboy or Gameboy Player as gameboys, although I have them both. And that's about it. I do admit to having some other side purchases like the still sealed Pokemon GBC bought at the Pokemon center in Japan. Crap like that.. -
You know what you OUTTA put in there. I don't know why I didn't think of this before.. but you should put in those Atari Pac-man variants on the 8bits (the disk images are floating around out there). Although they look identical to the 5200 version there are variations that have a better 'wocka wocka' sound when pacman eats the dots. And there are others with intros that show the ghost names. etc. Just a thought

How many other home ports have there been? -Bry There is a Warlords for the 2600 and of course the recent homebrew There are of course the emulated ports on the Atari Anniversary collections for the modern consoles, but those don't really count
-
I don't see why it'd make anyone happy that a particular game they're going to buy is selling well unless you were somehow tied in to the profits of it If not, who cares about the sales...just get your copy and enjoy it

Why the hell do so many U.S. sellers only ship to the U.S.?
