  1. That aint what I was saying. The 7800 is closer to the ARCADE spec in gameplay (it better matches the arcade in control, response, timing, flow, feel). But yes I agree, the 8bit is a better overall game though.. aaaahhh videogame debates
  2. Lots of screenshots here in the recent HS challenge http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48980 The rom is also pretty easily found (as is a ported 5200 version) for play via emulator. If you need it lemme know
  3. That's the one I have. It has dip switches to change games. He did come out with a different one with software switching. Bet yours isn't as old as mine. My sk multicart has a white paper label and some of the game listings are wrong/not listed How are the new ones better? More games! Lots more protos and complete games have been uncovered since then. Also there are cool hacks and conversions from the 8-bit world that are included as well. And the lack of having to use dipswitches anymore is another bonus.
  4. GTA Vice City I think is like that?
  5. You know though.. now that I look at it a little closer, if those pictures aren't messing anything up, then that Space Invaders kind of looks a little shitty Maybe it's early....
  6. Yeah I gave up on them a long time ago. It's pretty sad when a free product like MameOx gives you such an arcade accurate Pac-man and not only that, the resolution is 10x better AND even gives you an option to stretch out the screen if you want (see below). I mean sure the ones on Namco Museum aren't accurate, but heck they could have made it LOOK somewhat decent. It's just funny how just the straight up emu just ends up looking so much crisper on the average everyday tv than the scrunched up fuzzy looking versions on Namco museums and the other pacman games where it's built in. Now on this note, why can't we also get an official version of an arcade perfect version of DONKEY KONG home as well?! (the one in DK64 doesn't count)
  7. I dunno I had no problems moving up and down in the 20 minutes I played it. Maybe when I buy mine we'll see....
  8. Ok I took a listen (installed an emu here at work) and yeah that other tune doesn't sound like any Journey I know. It's just some random dinky-dink tune as far as I can tell Anyway, all this talk about Journey made me investigate them a little bit, (they weren't ever a band I fully followed or anything, but like I said I dug their stuff) and I do see the point where they jumped the shark probably although I was never fully cognizant of it... it was the album "Escape"! I mean look at that track listing... it's almost all pure cheese. (although I do like the guitar work in Stone In Love) 1. Don't Stop Believin' 2. Stone in Love 3. Who's Crying Now 4. Keep on Runnin' 5. Still They Ride 6. Escape 7. Lay It Down 8. Dead or Alive 9. Mother, Father 10. Open Arms
  9. yeah I told you I'd tell you. I just have to play the game first. I'll do it tonight
  10. Oh man there are tons.. especially in the classic compilations/remix stuff like Qix 2000 or Crazy Climber 2000, Hyper Crazy Climber, etc. Check phosphour Dot Fossils' website for some ideas. Oh.. Galaxian 3, that's another. I can't go through them all. There are TONS of cool japanese psx releases
  11. Yeah I dunno why everyone bags on Journey so much. Hell for poppy stuff at least they're more band oriented than any fluff you find these days. I dig the live album "Captured" where Neil Schon rips on several tracks (imho they kind of went downhill from that point.. "open arms?!" UGH!). But anyway, you gotta admit, Steve Perry has a unique voice you don't find anywhere else. The guy friggin sings like you just don't hear much these days. Of course like most bands you gotta seperate the wheat from the chaffe but that's not anything unusual. ANY WAY YOU WAANT IT THAT AM WAY U NEEED IT ANYWAY AM WAANT IT
  12. Buy one from classics.. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45678 You can probably just private msg him.
  13. I told ya guys it's pretty damn good! I'm buying one for sure. From what I played, it looks like it was totally done right.
  14. Hmmm Good question. I'd say Defender..... Scramble would be great though
  15. You know it's cool Atari news when it draws MattyXB out of his lurking to do his occasional post Nice job there Tempest.
  16. This is actually a great thread to break out the Cuttle Cart too. Lots of these games are really good as I've discovered!
  17. Rally-X and Bosconian just seem ultra similar to me. So if you could do one, then the other should be cake as well Otherwise, pretty much like what dav said. You did Pacman so why not Pengo & Crush Roller/Make Trax?
  18. Yeah but aren't emus acceptable here. Lots of people here used MESS I thought.. just as long as they do the honor system to not use save states (although I can't possibly see why they'd bother for such a casual thing)
  19. I meant to play a game I like (DK) not to beat Jedi Jeff. This is NE146 by the way.. I often forget to log off this profile when I'm at work
  20. Yeah in the beginning you can only do it temporarily if I recall correctly. Later on you get something that allows you to stay in that form. But it's been a while and I could be off....
  21. Very interesting you say that as I've always been of the opinion that 2600 Space Invaders totally misses every aspect of the arcade game and is a POOR port (missing inherent arcade tricks like counting, etc.) I've always thought it had about as much to do with the original Space Invaders as do any other clone e.g. Intellivision Space Armada. But oh well you're point about Berzerk is taken
  22. The 2600 Berzerk is one of it's greatest ports ever. But does it pale to the arcade game? Of course it does! As usual it's more than the graphics... the little fact that the Robots can't shoot diagonally and of course later in the game.. shoot 2 or 3 shots at a time, are natural shortcomings. Of course the 2600 version only has 4 mazes as well. But is it a decent port? Hell yeah it's great! (and the voice hack makes it better). Does it eclipse the original? Not by a longshot.
  23. I've been hearing about this on and off but man if you guys pull this off you'd be my idols (and I don't have many)
