  1. I played every shooter listed here and they all rock. :)

For me, I still got a place for original arcade Defender. Although very stripped down and plain in light of every horizontal shooter that's came after it, I have to say it STILL gives the most intense dogfights especially when you're a high level, in free space. If you have the skills to survive that for more than a couple of seconds, man that is some INTENSE shit :D

  2. Woops, I all that talk about Life Force made me forget my choice for worst ending. For me... it'd HAVE to be the first Ultima for the NES. That believe it or not was my first Ultima I had played, and since I was spoiled by Phantasy Star, Y's etc. I was probably hoping for a bit more than the poor port onto the NES could've delivered. But DAMN.. was I knocked out at the ending. Hours and hours and hours of playing that damn game.. you'd expect an RPG to have an ending wouldn't you? Well it did. It gave you a black screen that said "The End" :x

  3. Certainly, don't let the button configuration deter you... it's not really that big of a deal.

I really can't believe that they didn't make this configurable. And it IS a big deal for a lot of Megaman devotees.

I mean look, you have an NES pad and your megaman games... For one motion like jumping then rapid firing at the top of your jump. That's something you have to practice to get good at, and lots of fans got good at the NES buttons configuration. Switching them really does put a wrench in that nice comfy technique!

Yeah it's not that big a deal. But on that note, it really shouldn't have been that big a deal to make the buttons configurable! I just don't see why they didn't do that.. especially when the layout is changed. It just doesn't make any sense! :?

Still though, I still recommend getting this. I got one. It's just a small dissapointment, but a dissapointment nonetheless. But I'll live. And of course there's alway the perfect emu's on the xbox with fully configurable controllers if I ever feel "too" chagrined.

  4. This is a great game for a scoring challenge! I used to totally ignore it.. I mean, how attractive is a COWBOY themed game to us who were totally enamoured with star wars and everything "space" at the time?

However when Activitision Anthology came out my whole opinion of this game changed. It's friggin challenging! I wonder if I gave it a chance back in the day how I'd find it. But this is indeed a great game that I understimated. :D
