  1. So what's the hold up on the NES club?

They're still looking for a working NES. Don't worry, at least one is bound to work eventually. :)

That explains a lot, but I'm starting to get impatient... I've been waiting for days to post my NES score... :D

My NES works perfect;y and I got it at a thrift store! :P

    Necro bump!

  2. I used this as a guide:

but didn't have the potentiometers, or enough parts for ben hecks 2nd mod.

So instead of using the 22 ohm resistor and potentiometers, do this.

tia pin 5: 360 ohm resistor from broken atari

    tia pin 7: 100 ohm resistor ^

tia pin 8: 1k resistor from same place

Then trace chroma back from pin 9 of TIA because the spots all guides said to use didn't work. Hook all of them up to a video chord and MAKE SURE TO GROUND VIDEO! This has been my problem for a year now.

  3. I have tried a lot of times to get composite video on my atari and always fail. Today I finally tried connecting the ground of the video wire to ground and it worked (how dumb was I?)

So now I finally have a clean picture and yellow/white cables coming out of it instead of the RF chord.

If anyone wants to know how to make it, I made it only out of parts I took from a broken atari, and a PS1 video chord.

  4. I have a 4 switch 2600 that I have tried to video mod a couple of times. The first time I tried just tying all of the sync/luma/chroma together(chris's mod) and none of my tv's would show anything.

The second time I tried Ben Heck's first mod (the one with 2 potentiometers and a 22 ohm resistor).

I have a 1k potentiometer on both TIA pin 5 and 8, and a 22 ohm resistor on pin 7. I have the other side of both potentiometers touching, and have sync and chroma connected there too, and also that is where I have my yellow video cable connected.

Once again, I have triple checked everything and can't find anything wrong. On my HDTV it shows "480i" when I turn it on with a game in, but it is just a black screen. On my SDTV it stays at a blue screen and nothing changes. Going through a VCR to my SDTV has the same results.

If I connect the composite video cable to my rca-coaxial connector and put the tv on channel 2, I can see the game playing in black and white and scrolling up and down. This is weird, because it is supposed to be a composite video signal, not a channel 2 video signal ??

And finally if I plug it into the green spot of the YPbPr on my SDTV I can see the same thing, black and white screen scrolling.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

  5. I use just a standard entertainment center that I got for like $20 a few years back. I put the systems I use most there and then for my spares and systems I don't play as often I put selves up above the TV for them. I need to get so AV selectors but it works for now and since my AV on the TV is on the front it's not as big as hassle as you may think.

    nice trampoline

  6. I'm wanting a 2600 with composite output, so I'm looking to buy either something to make my 4 switch have composite output, or to buy a 2600 Jr.

looking to spend no more than $20 after all is said and done. Will go higher if need to

  7. I'm from Tampa, and there is nothing here except hugely overpriced ($200 for a loose 7800, $100 for a loose 4 switch 2600) thrift stores and flea markets.

"do you know how old that is?! it's almost 30! of course it's that expensive, most probably don't work anymore"
