Wow, thanks! I couldn't find it anywhere. Most sites that mention it say it is even only a rumor.

If I Remember Correctly

I'll figure out how to display the picture somehow
You could try taking a couple of pictures of the tv, and uploading the best, or making a video of it.

I've devoured the internet trying to find this elusive 8k rom. I even found the demo cart that it is supposed to be on, but every emulator crashes either immediately or right after the intellivision home screen.
Other than that, I love the game! My dad had an Intellivision from 1979(test market) until I was a couple of years old. I have always loved classic games and he always talked how great the INTV and lock n chase were. I just had to get one!

This thread was amazingly entertaining!

When I typed d into the debugger, it gave me dump.hst, dump.mem, and dump.cpu. I opened the dump.mem into a hex editor, found a few locations that said 05(you start with 5 lives), died once and did it all again. There was only one spot where a 05 changed to a 04, and that was at 33f according to my hex editor.
Then I was checking out the spots where ram is in the debugger(0100 to 01ff or something), and took a small sample(e.g.00040080) and did a search for it in the dump.mem in a hex editor. I saw how far away the lives counter was from where the debugger was, and worked backwards and found it.

I was setting it to 0009, and if I tried 000a or 0010 it would say game over. I'm guessing because the game only has a one digit display. Thanks for the help, first one is always the hardest

Ok I finally found it by randomly checking places in memory (wow!). In the memory dump it is at location 33F, but in the debugger, it is at location 19f. For some reason, if I set the number to anything above 9 the game says game over. Would there be a way to just stop writes to this address so that the lives don't decrease?
-
The problem is that while the cart is running, for the life of me I cannot find what controls your lives. If I enable history and make a dump, the dump.mem contains at 033f the number of lives, and as I die I can see it go down. I can't find it without dumping it for some reason.

Generations usually come in five year intervals, and significant advances in technology. However, there's some debate as to what belongs where... I would put the 2600 and 5200 in separate generations, but Wikipedia seems to lump them together.
I think that the generations could be defined as follows:
- First Generation - Dedicated consoles such as Pong, which were electronic TV games with the programming built in.
- Second Generation - Marked by the introduction and use of programmable/interchangeable cartridges. Pre Eight Bit.
- Third Generation - 8 bit consoles. Scrolling graphics become the norm. The beginning is marked in some regards by the introduction of the Famicom.
- Fourth Generation - 16 bit consoles. An incremental improvement over the last generation.
- Fifth Generation - Marked by the introduction of 3d as a major game engine factor. CD-roms begin to replace carts. (N64 excepted)
- Sixth Generation - Standardization of 3d. An incremental improvement over the previous generation. Introduction of online gaming.
- Seventh Generation - Online gaming as an integrated part of the console is the norm. Introduction of motion control systems.
I think this is the best list of generations. Would the 8 bit systems like atari and INTV be listed in the second generation then, even though you listed it as pre-8 bit?
Also, to the OP, No the 3DS etc wont make a new console generation, as handhelds are in their own separate from consoles. They are only in generation 4 IIRC (except for the 3DS which is considered 5th gen handheld)

I spent a while finding an emulator with debugger and trying to make an infinite lives hack for lock n chase. I have done this many times on Stella for the atari, but it had a search feature and compare feature for ram. The emulator I am using is jzintv, and I have dumped the memory and even found where the lives counter is, but I can't find out how to change it.
In the ram while the game is running, lives are at 033F. I have tried using the E and P for enter and poke to change the number, but nothing works. Sometimes it even make my character not appear on the screen anymore.
Anyone here hacked a game before?

My intellivision started freezing after an hour or so of play, and as they day went on started freezing after a couple minutes. Now when I turn it on it is just a black screen. I have tried cleaning the games and the connector but this still happens. Also, the top left part of the system gets warm, and the bottom middle, if that helps. What could I do?

is there a video with it saying space cunt?

I just got my first Intellivision (looks like there are a lot of us lately) and have been reading about it. There was a site that said there were 2 versions for the INTV, and the first one was harder to control. I can't find the site again and I was wondering if it is true, and if there is a way to tell the difference?
EDIT: I found another site saying a 4k and 6k version were released, 4k had worse controls and on the 6k, lupin would collapse into his hat after being caught. I can't find any video of the 6k version, does it even exist?

There is a classic gaming room for the 360, with lots of different systems from atari, intellivision, to nes. If you have it downloaded, you can make a virtual arcade with games from systems, including buying those.

That "larger motherboard" is the 4 switch atari. All 6 switch atari's are on 2 motherboards, and 4 switchers are on one.
-
I can't be a computer if there is no keyboard or monitor.
A desktop PC is not a computer then? Yes, you can hook up your own keyboard and monitor to it, but they are not built in. Same as with the atari.

I saw it yesterday empty, nice to know it will be filled once released

If you don't want to get rid of it but need money, why not pawn it for a couple weeks?

I remember playing a game that is like the flash game helicopter, where you fly up and down and avoid the top and bottom.

-
I had tried a composite mod but couldn't get it to work, and so tried plugging it in to RF again and seeing if it still worked. I had not removed anything from the motherboard, and I took off everything that I added so it was like it was at first.
The screen was just blank on my tv when I turned it on, and I changed the channel on my tv from 2 to 3 back to 2 and the picture showed up now, but it was rolling. What could cause this?

Do you know of a mirror to his original guide? all I can find is his rev2. I have everything i need for his first one, but not his second.

What could be wrong with my INTV 1?

So I got an INTV 1 and it worked fine for the first hour, then would go to a black screen. The next day it did the same, but after about 30 mins. Now, it just won't turn on and work at all more than a minute, if that.
According to the INTV repair guide, this problem means the power transformer is bad. Ok, it seems simple enough to test. I checked it with my multimeter according to a couple youtube videos (each video had you check different spots than the other videos), and all of it checks out perfect.
I cleaned all of the carts and none were even dirty really, but I can't clean the systems cart port. It looks shiny and metal though.
Is there anything else that would get this thing working? What exactly could be wrong with it if it isn't the power transformer?
