I still love this "Literal" video: I dont know why the cat is there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZrjg48jHLw

Thanks, that helped a little. I also lowered the volume on Stella. I upgraded my PC from XP to 7 last year and my trusty Soundblaster Audigy 2ZX wouldn't work with the new OS, and SB's Win 7 drivers for it are incomplete. So I'm using the Motherboard's Realtek audio for now which can clip and distort easily if overdriven by games or a mp3 player like Winamp.. (BTW If anyone has a suggestion for a PCI soundcard that has better sound and works great for Windows 7 please PM me) The game looks and plays great! I cant think of any other suggestions. PS great choice for the label. And BTW Is the lack of Melody boards the same reason why Chetiry is out of stock too? Just curious.

I've been playing this hack on Stella and my Harmony Cart on my 2600 Jr. for a couple weeks and I've really enjoyed it. But I noticed a glitch where one of or two the ghosts or Pac Man will disapear for a few seconds and then re-appear. Nukey, if you ever work on it again please add a speed-up turbo button like you did with Pac Man Arcade enhanced. This game is really good - the AI of the ghosts is so much better than any other 2600 version.

Wow this looking great, but I dont like the click-click soundtrack, (Im using Stella 3.7.4) I'd rather have just silence instead or something close to the original "da-dum" arcade asteroids version.
-
Nice mods, I like the way it looks now. About the only thing I'd improve is the wocka-wocka eating sound.
-
I doubt that. I read a bio on him that said he grew up poor and lived on the streets for a few years. I saw Journey in concert about 3 years ago. Great show, he has some serious pipes. I still wish they'd get back with Perry, though I have heard rumors his voice is shot. I picked up a copy at a thrift store years ago but I didnt care much for this game, I liked the Midway Arcade game with the Digitized heads better. BTW the announcer on the commerical IS Casey Kasem!

With a title like that, I expect to see it at my local Wal-Mart soon Seriously if it's being released on a tiny indie label (just checked your facebook page) I doubt Atari or whoever owns the Defender box image will take legal action.

Blinky Goes Up (formerly GIANA BROS)

I've never been a big fan of platform games but this is very impressive and plays super smooth for a demo. Keep working on it! -
2600 Galaxian - near perfect arcade colors & graphics hack

Very nice hack. I just wish there was a way to make the aliens more agressive. The game is too easy on the lower levels. -
Atari Flashback 3
WildBillTX replied to thegamezmaster's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Friday I got up (too) early and visited the two stores in my area that were selling the FB3 cheap (Walgreens & Dollar General). I almost bought the one at Dollar General, they had about 4 boxes and thankfully they had one opened and hooked up to a small TV for a demo. But I noticed the console didn't have the SD slot or mentioned it on the box, so I didn't buy it. The FB3's at Walgreens also didn't mention a SD slot on the box, so no buy. So I'm disappointed with this "bait & switch" by Atari. Did anyone buy one this weekend that did have the SD slot? -
Atari Flashback 3
WildBillTX replied to thegamezmaster's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I wish i could get it for $15! My local Dollar General won't be selling one until Thursday morning when they go on sale for $25. Wallgreens is selling their for $29.99 locally starting today. I'm very curious about it.. I just wonder if some of the popular hacks and new games like Lead, Juno First, Bolderdash and (proably not) Frantic will play on it. If it sells well and people start checking out Atariage for roms, compatibility is something all programmers might need to think about. -
That did the trick, the picture isn't rolling. Thanks!
-
Got mine around two weeks ago and I love it. It took 5 days to arrive after I ordered it. All the 2600 roms I have so far fit fine on a old 256mb SanDisk SD card with plenty of room to spare. Now that I found Rom Hunters collection site I'll proably have to find a 1-2 gig. The only game that didn't work right was Nukey Shay's hack of "Pac-Man Arcade Enhancement" which caused a rolling screen on my Sony 26 flatscreen. But that was taken care of it with a VSYNC correction. Great Job! (btw anyone want a hardly-used Crocodile Cartridge?)
-
It's really strange, because the Sony works great with anything plugged into the HDMI inputs (cable box, blu-ray and X-box), an old VCR into the composite video inputs and my laptop hooked up to the VGA input. I may be buying a bigger flat screen soon, I'd like to find out what brands have some kind of "game mode" and work best with old consoles. I hope someone else is having the same video problems I am. I really like this hack. It should be the rom put in the Pac Man Arcade cartridge AtariAge sells.
-
This is strange, the game doesn't roll and plays fine on my $99 Symphonic CRT TV, but does on my $400 Sony Flatscreen (KDL-26M4000), that's modern technology for ya. For some reason, the Sony doesn't like old video consoles through the video-audio inputs or cable. It always plays them too dark, and I've tried all kinds of different settings.

Thanks, that would be great for the kids. I have a young cousin who loves to play my 2600 but get frustrated when the games get hard. Another suggestion would be adding a "0" setting to Robot Shots to keep the robots from firing. Keep up the awesome work, you're really pushing the limits of what the 2600 can do.
-
That would help. It took me awhile to get used to how sensitive the humanoid is since I'm so used to playing the original 2600 Berzerk. I'll have to try your rom on my Harmony Cartridge and 2600 Jr. tonight. BTW is there a way to keep Evil Otto from appearing like on the 2600 Berzerk using the A-B difficulty switches? As for Rally X - awesome! Love that game. I'll be really impressed if you match the speed of the arcade game on the 2600.
-
This is a awesome game, and it's kicking my butt right now in the Frenzy mode in Stella. It's amazing to see all those robots go into a full attack blitz on a 2600.. makes me wonder could your game be converted into a Robotron 2084? My only gripes is the humanoid seems a little too sensitive around walls and exploding robots.. it's too easy to get zapped.
-
Last night I played what I believe is your original hack p26.bin and it played fine on the harmony cartridge. Also Nukey's Hack'Em 16K and Ms HackEm play fine too with no screen rolling. So far I'm very impressed with it.
-
Hate to mention this. I just got my Harmony Cartridge this week, loaded this rom and the screen is rolling. I cant tell if it's my TV (A Sony Bravia 26 inch flatscreen) or my 2600 Jr because other games and hacks have played fine. I may hook it up to an older TV (a 19' cheapo Symphonic) and see what happens.

Star Castle 2600 2011 at Video Game Summit
WildBillTX replied to solidcorp's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
This remind me of record collectors who will pay thousands to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind recording of Elvis, The Beatles, etc, yet won't let anyone hear it or allow a record company to reissue it for fear of losing it's value. DS should at least let Atariage give this game a good workout and review it. Lets see if its a kick-*** game thats worth $32,768.00 -
I was playing the online version of Angry Birds (if you haven't played it: http://chrome.angrybirds.com/) and brainstormed "could a 2600 version be made of this?". I'm not trying to troll here, just wanted to throw the idea out. It would have made a cool Activision game in the early 80's.
-
Awesome work Nukey, this could easily replace Hack 'Em as my favorite 2600 version of Pac Man. About the only little thing I find missing is a signal at 10000 points for the bonus. BTW I wonder if you could add all these features for a "Ms. Pac Man Expanded" hack in the future? Or how about a version of Pac Man with all the Ms. Pac Man mazes?
-
Haven't checked the hacks forum in a long time, and I'm glad you're working on this game again. Very impressive work!

Loved a few Tatio shoot em ups that were in my Jr. College Student Union in the early 80's. Stratovox - which I believe was the very first arcade machine that used crude digital samples - if you could understand the scratchy audio - "We'll Be Back!" Zarzon, a shooter Tatio licensed from SNK. And I also liked Star Force .. which I think became more popular as a NES cart.
