  1. Hah, yeah... thought that was kind of nasty too... oh well. Hey, I have an air cooled VW too. Mine is a 73 VW Bus (I think we've had this conversation before?)
  2. I would defintiely be interested in this. I've always thought that the Jaguar somehow lacked good RPG games. Castles II or whatever it was called (damn, my brain really is fried) by Telegames was actually decent, just difficult game-play. But I would love something Zelda-like... anything for that matter. I've pretty much bought all of Carl Foran's games over the years. I've kind of been out of the "scene" for the past few years as I've focused more on my career and school... but I would definitely buy a couple more new games as they came out. I prefer cartrige games, therefore I don't have to wear out my CD unit.
  3. You know, I guess the list isn't so bad, actually. I'm not sure exactly how they are judging them of course. I guess I'm too old (31) to really appreciate the Playstation II. I have a PS1 that I got late in the game, and I just don't really play games much anymore. Obviously, my first system was a 2600 and I greatly remember the NES. My parents wouldn't let me have one, so I mowed lawns and did odd jobs around the neighborhood and rode my bike to Toys R Us and bought an Action Set for about $170 bucks, with 1/3rd of it being in nickles, dimes, and quarters (the cashier loved that...). I think enough time has passed, that many people don't even remember or know wht the 2600 is. We have some interns in the company, and they were talking about video games and they were all like.. YEAH... the NES... and then one of the older guys mentioned the Atari 2600... and they were all like... what's that? Is that like PacMan and stuff? So, I guess considering, the first couple make sense. I don't know what about the PS2 that's put it in the #3 spot though...? I REALLY don't know how the Jag got so far back there though... I mean, the Odyssey 2? No one bought that stuff... haha... I had one for several years (got from a co-worker) and just sold it on eBay a few months ago. I definitely think the Jag made more of an impact... Oh well... what can you do? We'd all love to see Atari become huge, adn suddenly start selling the Jaguar again in all the stores, and have it become emensly popular... hah... that would be an odd sight in 2009.
  4. Yeah, I guess that's true. I have one, but I haven't really played it much. Most of the good games I have for it are EA games... like Wing Commander III and Star Control II...
  5. Shoot.. I don't think I've ever beat ANY Jaguar game... at least that I can remember. I think I got past the first universe with Trevor McFur... and then... I think I got like 75% through the flying tank one... damn, I've been gone for so long I can't remember what it's called... Battleshphere? Whatever that one is (not the $1,000 dollar one, but the one that's offered on cartidge and also CD). Oh wait!!! I did beat... crap... forgot the name. Damn, I'm either really worn out from school or work, or it's really been a LONG time since I've played anything... crap, what is that game called... it's like Mortal Kombat. Holy crap!!!! I must be getting alzheimers... Oh man, I suck.... UTRA VORTEK!!!! Damnit... my brain is rotting....
  6. One disc on my Jag. Oh yeah, I updated my Avatar with a picture of "The Avatar"... hah...
  7. I actually really like the Saturn. I vividly remember the Saturn commercials, but by that time I was completely off playing games. I was in college, worked, didn't have much time really. But I ended up getting one much later. I find the games on the Saturn to be very much like... well... it's very Jaguar-Ish as far as I'm concerned. Or actually... if I had to compare it to a system, I would say it's VERY MUCH like the Atari 7800, at least in the types of games. It was unique for it's time, and many of the games are ported computer games. I definitely like the Saturn. Not as much as my Jag, but I like it. Are you saying though that the N64 outsold the Genesis? I don't own a Genesis, but I was always under the impression that it was really popular? I have a Dreamcast too, (only played it once) I bought it much much later for $100 bucks with a bunch of games. One of those left-over NIB ones. It's pretty decent I have to say, but I guess that was all she wrote for Sega?
  8. How so? The Saturn (outside of Japan), would be the biggest failure of the mainstream consoles in that period. (and had it not been for the previous success and popularity of the Genesis/MD in US/EU that it drew on, it probably would have done a lot worse -assuming the same mistakes were made) Now, as a compeditor to the Jaguar, not too much of an issue, it coming out nearly 3 years later and (had the Jag done well) the Jag 2 would be on the horizon, probably out by '97. Plus the N64 was relatively weak in 2D, granted this wan't "in" at the time, but there are many arcade games (fighters particularly) that were still 2D, which the Jag could handel masterfully, and the N64 was weakest at. In terms of competition, etc, at least in the US market. I remember when it was brand new. I think I was a Junior or Senior in HS (graduated in 1996). A few people got them, but most of my friends didn't play games anymore at that point. There were some good games, but it didn't really compare to the other systems of the time, like the PlayStation. The PlayStation pretty much beat all of them. Yeah, the Saturn was a failure too in that respect. I guess in terms of competition, the Playstation pretty much ruled the 3D/32-Bit era (which includes the 64). The Playstation 2 was pretty popular also, and totally destroyed everything else that I can see during that time (especially the Game Cube). I guess the Wii is Nintendo's big comeback... it's certainly doing well.... but it reminds me a lot of the N64 simply because the graphics are clean, but they're not all that great. Every game I've seen on the system (I've played it breifly) seems to have no texturing at all...
  9. A couple of problems we know about now (in hind-sight) is: 1 - Graphics were good, but 3D acceleration was fairly poor. This would definitely needed to be rectified. 2 - Pay your software suppliers, so they continue to release games. 3 - Sign better contracts with bigger names (also goes back to #2) They did a lot of things right, but the timing was "interesting" to say the least, and once the PlayStation and Saturn came out, it really just knocked them out of the water. I think perhaps selling the system with a built in CD drive would have helped too. All of that would have needed to be done, AND keep the costs down, and I think the system would ahve been a success. The Nintendo 64 was for the most part a failure.
  10. Dude, seriously, both games are so awesome, that you just have to get both. The graphics are mind-blowing, and the sound effects are so intense that you literally need to be sitting otherwise you'll get blown over. Ok, seriously... I found Checkered Flag somewhat boring to play, and I like IRL and Formula-1 racing. Club Drive, at least you can mess around and "explore".
  11. I think I've been away long enough to land a bit more on reality. Going to school full time, while working full time, with a 6 month old, it makes you put things into perspective. I've been thinking about selling all of my video game stuff for a while now, with the exception of maybe a few items like my 2600 collection and a couple of 2600 systems, and my Jaguar collection. I've got a 3DO with a bunch of games (can't remember the last time I played it), a CD32 in the box never opened, and tons of other stuff, but I think the biggest point here is... most of the people my age who grew up with the 2600 (I'm 31 now) are getting married, having kids, and pursuing careers. It SUCKS... the last time I actually PLAYED ANY games at all was my Atari Jaguar about a year ago. I have it hooked up, as we speak, in a bureau (whatever it's called) in the bedroom. And despite that, I still never find time to play it. Before that, I think I played a few games two years prior. Our ages differ, and there are some new punks here as well (just read a post from a 15 year old that just got his first 2600 last week?!). But for the most part, I would bet most of you guys are my age, or a little bit older. I hate to be the face of reality... but most of these systems will forever be relegated to our closets, online museums, and if we're lucky, a spot somewhere in the Smithsonian. The ColecoVision, Intellevision, whatever... will go the way of BBSes, CB Radios, etc. I just sold my 2006 Pontiac Solstice for a family car last weekend, sucks... but for the three years I owned the car, I had a huge Atari sticker on the back. The logo with ATARI written underneath it. Most people thought it was hugely dorky, maybe 1% thought it was cool (which made it worth it), and the remainder didn't even know what it was. MOST kids don't even know what Atari is... at best, they think it's just a company that makes video games like Dragon Ball "Z" from "back in the day". Oh well... now that I've depressed everyone... I'll just say that I'm selling a bunch of my stuff. I just sold my CuttleCart II and my Krokodile Cart on eBay, and I'm going to be selling some other stuff. I'll be putting up an Atari 7800 NIB, a bunch of games, two 5200s NIB, a 4-port and a 2-port, a Commodore CD-32, just sold my Odyssey system, and a bunch of other stuff. I'll post it in the for sale section... Todd, 2008 Jeep Patriot Limited 4x2 2002 Ford Explorer Sport 4x4 2002 Ford Crown Victoria LX-P74 1987 Pontiac Fiero SE / V6 1973 Volkswagen Type-2 Transporter
  12. Yeah, I almost hope it doesn't sell... hah, I know i'm going to regret it. I already sold my Cuttle Cart II for the 7800, and I wish I still had it... ugh... Oh well, priorities...
  13. Hey guys, I'm selling my Krok cart. I never used it except to test it. It's revision #2 (the one that doesn't require the power supply when plugged into the 2600). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270419804888 $149.95 Thanks,
  14. Well, honestly a lot of it has to do with the fact that, although WE consider these games to have significant replay value, most people do not. They revel in the nostalgia of it, but otheriwse could care less. A good example is when you relate it to the automobile. The Model T was the first. Sure, there were other cars out there before... like the Stanley Steemer (the Magnovox Odyssey), or the Hispano Suezo (the Vectrex), but the Model T was the first one for everyone. But... no one cares about the Model-T now... you can buy them fully restored for $3,500 to $6,000 bucks while a 69 Oldsmobile Cutlass (the 8-Bit NES) is selling for $20,000 in the same condition... It's just kind of how it goes... heh...
  15. Hah! Those are awesome...!!!
  16. For what it's worth Ms. Pacman was never married, divorced, or widowed.
  17. I've got to check it out. I haven't purchased a new Jag game in over a year and a half... I totally agree with you.
  18. Gorf, I completely, whole heartedly agree with you. I just wish I had seen this response earlier. I blame MY generation (whichever letter designates that). I blame our parents, and my generation. Kids today (well, I'm 30... so people in my age group) are raised with a sense of entitlement. Everyone, regardless of their income, or the income in which they were raised in, feel that they are owed something. Everyone feels they are deserving of something that they haven't worked for. I want a Ferrari... does that mean it's unfair? Some people think so... EVERYONE feels that they are owed some sort of pittance because they are disenfranchised in some way or another. It really shocks me because I never really realized just how bad this country had gotten and just how demanding everyone has gotten. THere are so many examples that are right in our faces and people don't realize it. Even illegal immigration. These mexican immigrants cross the border, and while they may be coming here illegally, they have a very strong work ethic because they've CLEARLY learned from birth, the value of a dollar and what it means to earn a living. If all the illegal immigrants left this country, there would be no one to do the work because everyone feels they are too special or important (even if they are living on the street) to have to do "those" kinds of jobs... like packing meat or picking oranges. If you see some of the kids in the shopping malls. they are total spoiled brats. If I talked to my parents the way ANY ONE of those kids talk to theirs, I probably wouldn't be here right now. I remember ONE time when I was 13, I called my mom a "bitch", and I knew from that split second that I was in trouble... my dad literally kicked in my door!!! never saw him like that before... and I'll tell you what... I never did it again. My dad was born in Holland, so by virtue of his own culture, he's instilled the Dutch "business ethic" into me as well (something they themselves have also lost). It really kills me to see such a level of entitelment from people today... I think everyone needs a good dressing down so everyone recognizes their place. I understand the stipulation that prevents you from producing Gorf. But even still... if you simply just didn't WANT to make any more.. that's your damn God given right to do that. YOU were the one that put in the effort, YOU were the one that put in the work... and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. (do I get a free copy of Gorf for agreeing with you? hehehe).
  19. Oh man, that game is so aweful... seriously... I think a CGA port of PENGO would probably have been better than Brutal Sports Football... Or maybe even a Monochrome port of "Bouncing Babies" from the early 80s "Public Domain" collection probably would have been a better game. Maybe GRIME, ParaTrooper, Pengo, and some of those other crap games would have made an awesome fill-in for Brutal Sports Football... But to each their own... hah...
  20. There's always room for PMD talk. Mine had the burgundy PMD interior. Those "PMD" seats are awesome. 1982 was a really cool year honestly... Pontiac Motor Division was still it's own company (changed in the mid 90s), and the 82 model was really the carry-over between the 70s and 80s. It still had some fender flares that were certainly a styling cue from the 70s, but had the sleek look of the 80s. Wish I still had mine. The 350 wouldn't be original, did someone else swap that in there?
  21. yea i think you are confusing boot reflex to centering centering woudl mean that it springs back to the center the boot kind of just makes it not relax in a absolute direction pop in missile command wigle the joy around and see if the cursor really springs back to exact center Ok, I'll check it out. I seem to recall that they had springs inside of them though...
  22. Yes, the ScatBox is the shit box... It's also made by 4Play/ScatoLOGIC; the term foreplay has strong sexual connotations, and scatology is an interest in obscene matters including excrement. The alternative to the ScatBox is the CatBox, and cat box is a colloquialism for a litter box... Yes, another shit box. Notice a trend yet? HAH! When I saw the name 4-Play, I never thought foreplay... that's funny...
  23. Man, when I was in high school, I was friends with this kid who's parents were both music teachers. This kid would jump on his Korg 01W/Pro and just start busting out music... stuff like what you would hear in a video game or arcade game... just really amazing stuff... and he would pull it out of his ass every single time. He would immediately forget it, but every time he would just whip out another song out of thin air... The guy had amazing skill... he really did. He ended up doing music for NASA (for their presentations and shows on the NASA channel I guess) and then he moved back to where we grew up and I think he's the band teacher at our high school. Anyway, he would be perfect for what you want... But... I haven't spoken to him in 13 years, so... sorry... Anyway, this is a free bump.
  24. That's funny... isn't "scat" animal excriment? So the name is basically "shit box".
  25. Well, it's hard to say which ones are cheap, VS which ones are not. I know which games suck and are cheap... like that battle football one that's in 8-Bit, hah, forget the name... But there are some good games out there that are fairly inexpensive, don't exactly have the same "value" or "rarity" as Primal Rage or Alien VS Predator, but are still really good: Power Drive Rally I-War Wolfenstein 3D Trevor McFur Ruiner Pinball just to name a few:
