  1. Hey guys... Maybe I'm nuts, but I have a set of normal 5200 joysticks that are self centering??? I just assumed there was a newer version and an older version, and that the first version weren't. I don't remember where I got these from. Anyway, I was considering selling all my games (except my 2600 and a few other things) because I'm going through an early mid-life crsis (30 years old, and wife just had a baby). And I started going through my stuff. Are these rare? Or could someone have modified them? As it turns out... it seems the market for video games has totally fallen through the floor. I see people getting barely $50 bucks for mint in box 5200 systems. Guess I'm going to keep mostly everything then... I'll probably be happy I did when I get out of this phase.
  2. Oh, I used to have a 1982 Pontiac TransAm. I loved the 82. Unfortunately, I don't have ANY pictures of it, at all... sucks. It was an all white (with black pinstriping / graphics) 305 V8 with the posi rear-end and the Cross-Fire Injected V8 (LU5). When I got it, it was rather abused. It had 150k miles on it. I didn't have a whole lot of money and I think I bought it for $750 bucks... hahah... Anyway, by the time I got it, someone had swapped the intake with an Edelbrock and stuck a computer controlled carb on it, without the computer control. It ran, but there was NO timing advance at all... because the computer was fried and the distributor on it was a computer controlled HEI. I dumped about $1,500 into it, new HEI GM distributor, headers, all that stuff... and it ran pretty well. I've had about 20 some odd cars since then, but the 82 was one that I really liked. I've got an entire page of all the cars I've owned, and the ones I have now. http://www.PontiacPerformance.Net I used to have an 81 TransAm also (as you know, the previous generation TransAm). Loved that car too but sold it, along with my Porsche 944 and picked up a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I still have my Fiero (first car), my 73 Volkswagen Bus, my wife's 2004 VW Beetle Convertible, a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria, and my 2006 Pontiac Solstice.
  3. Well, I did it... I took the leap and put it up for sale. I've had it for 2-3 years now, never used it even once... wish I had the time... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270345162517
  4. Hey now, I hope you're just speaking in general terms and not about me specifically! If you are talking about me, and you haven't read the whole thread, go read my original post and subsequent elaborations I love my Jaguar; I just made a point of talking about both the good and the bad. It was more general, hah... sorry if I wasn't clear.
  5. Hah, there are people like that on all forums. Especially with cars. When the Pontiac Solstice was coming out, there was a message board for people who had special ordered them, and then Mazda Miata owners would frequently register and post on there telling us how bad the Solstice was going to suck and that the Miata was better. To each their own... but I do have to wonder why someone would come on to a message board to post negative things about a product that the message board caters to, with no other reason at all? I mean, I can understand if you own a Toyota Corolla for example, and it's breaking down (just saying) and you log on to a board and bitch about it because you want to know how to fix it... I like all game systems... some are better than others, but the Jaguar is unique. I feel something different when I play it that I don't feel when I play the other games. I feel like I'm playing something special, something that has more substance. It's kind of the same feel I get when I play the SNES, but like on the otherhand, something I definitely don't feel when I play the N64, or the Sega DreamCast. I get that feeling somewhat on the Sega Saturn... I dunno, it's hard to explain...
  6. Hahah... yeah, exactly. I completely agree. I too actually got most of my initial stuff from the KB Toys and EB bargin bins. There was even another store that KB bought that liquidated everything and was selling CD games for $10-15 bucks, and cart games for $5!!! But yeah, Go Atari was always the very first place I looked... if not Go Atari, then Telegames second. Now, it's Song Byrd Productions...
  7. Hah, I too bought a lot of stuff from Peter Curry back in the day. But most of what I bought was like 7-8 years ago... I honestly haven't bought anything from him in at least 7 years.

    Krokodile Cart

Heh, this is how I know I've got one from the second batch... You're pretty far down on the list at the moment, so you won't be getting one from this first batch. But I should have a second batch as soon as Armin is able to build them (probably at least two months), and you'll definitely get one from those.. Take care, ..Al

    Krokodile Cart

How can you tell if it is second release? I just got mine and am not sure what release it is. I assume it is because I got them on the second batch. I put my name in on the list, and then one day, I was e-mailed! heh...

    Krokodile Cart

Hey guys, I hate to do it, but I've got a Krokodile Cart for sale. It's never been used, still in it's original wrap from where I bought it, with the serial cable, and the burned CD that came with it. I'm a programmer, and I had intended to use it to mess around with and whatnot, but my wife just had a baby, and along with the fact that my job is really demanding, and I'm also trying to finish my bachelors degree so I can change careers (I'm burnt out from programming)... I just don't see a time in the near future where I'll ever be able to actually use it. I think I've had it for like 3 years now and have never even opened it. It requires a 6 volt power supply which is not included in the sale since it was never included with the cart when you bought it. Anyway, let me know if anyone would like to buy it. I'm not asking $1,000,000 obviously... heh... but I do want to get what it's valued at. I'd love to be a charity, but I've got baby bills to pay! EDIT, this is one of the second release ones. Thanks,
  11. I really should check... I was buying up old 2600s from the local Swap Shop about 10 years ago... and one of the ones I had actually had a date on the back on a sticker that had the Atari address on it and it said something like May 8th, 1977. Sunnyvale California I think was the city. I don't even know what I did with half of them. I had several heavy sixers. The big HUGE heavy ones with the massive pot-metal heat sink inside with the 6 switches...
  12. Damn, I'm guessing this isn't so great, 34,948,190 as my current high score. That was my first try. I never got off the main board, although I did get to that bonus board??? I don't know what I did, but I did something and immediately got an additional 20 million in my high score??? It took a while to get that other 14 million, so I'm hoping that it happens again next time... hah....
  13. Looks like a scene from Total Recall. Seriously, I would totally go out with a girl that had three perfectly sized big boobs. I mean, if she's hot, and she's got three boobs... what's the problem? I was geniunely attracted to that, other than the sleazy New York / Mars accent and the fact that she was a ho.
  14. The graphics are awesome, but why did the guy cut all his limbs off???
  15. Stay tuned for date & time! I'm sure doc will have something posted soon enough. The camera and taking a pic was an idea but it's not necessary. Aight, I'm in. I have a final on Monday and another Test on Wednesday, but I should have plenty of time after that!
  16. No way! Isn't that like an Alone in the Dark of sorts??? I would totally play that.
  17. Is that the guy who keeps lifting his kilt? Hah... I forgot about that game....
  18. I'm interested too... please let me know when there is a release!
  19. Oh, you guys are totaly going down.... !!! Hah, just let me know... I'll hook up my Jaguar ASAP. What's the rule, I just have to take a picture of the high score screen?
  20. Finding a Jag copy is exceedingly difficult and costly, (B&C lists copies for $130) but if you have a PS1 (or PS2 or PS3) you can pick up one of the Worms games for pretty cheap. Back in the day, I (foolishly) sold my Jag Worms for $67 (but I paid $38 for it, so at the time I was pleased with myself) and bought PS1 Worms Armageddon for like $5. Now, of course, I wish I'd have kept the Jag Worms. But eh...hindsight. A really fun game, to be sure! And in my opinion, the gameplay in Armageddon is a lot better... more weapons, quicker pace, etc. Cheers, Smeg Oh my God, really??? Worms is $130 bucks??? Geez... I really did get a deal. I got almost all my games for under $20 bucks each...
  21. Totally taking this off track (so I apoligize), but I really, REALLY liked Iwar. They knew (at least I assume so) they couldn't have a full 3D environment and render everything at the same time while maintining resolution, so they kept everything untextured... it actually looks really good and totally works.
  22. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I buy all of the Jaguar stuff because I'm insane and like to collect Atari stuff because something happened to me as a child and I became addicted to collecting Atari crap. Hah... But, it would be nice to have access to ROMS on games that I simply cannot (and probably will not ever) get. Just so that I can play them... I understand the argument on both sides. Although a game's copyright never technically expires, if the company goes out of business there's really no one to defend it anyway. Not that it makes it right, but by offering the ROMs, we are enabling more people the ability to play it. Honestly, the only thing we're doing by protecting ROMS is ensuring the resale value of our Atari hardware... but on a different aspect, most of the people who download roms won't be as likely to buy games anyway... it would be nice for a whole new generation of gamers to be able to play the old Jaguar games. Of course, I totally understand Albert's resistance to allowing any roms on here. This is an excellent site, definitely not a run of the mill "gamer" site made by some punk kid that had some time after school. This is a very professional, serious, Atari web site, and the last thing he probably wants to do is get involved in something that might risk all of this.
  23. Since VGA cables are typically held in place with screws, how well would a standard VGA extension cable connect to a Jaguar controller? I'm afraid it would disconnect easily. No more or less than an actual Jaguar extension cable would... maybe more even since the VGA extension cables have metal shielding (basically a ground pin, if you will) and the Jaguar controller cables do not... so the metal would probably catch on the plastic better than plastic on plastic.
  24. Well, Scorched Earth is a game where each player (there can be 1- has a tank. They shoot any one of their numerous weapons, and if you made the trajectory accurate enough, it would hit the opponent's tank (or within range of it, depending on the weapon) and they would die. Worms is basically the same thing. However, I haven't played it in over 3 years, but it was basically that. Several worms (2 or more, at least one player and one CPU), climb up on a hill and they have rockets (or some weapons... although I don't remember how many different weapons they can use) and they have to arch the curve of the munition in the air so that it lands correctly on the opponent and then they die. Here's an image that I found on the net (looks like it belongs to one of our users, Just Claws) Basically, the two worms (or more, I don't remember) launch weapons at eachother, and if they can kill the other one, then you win. Ever played that QBASIC game that came with DOS 5.0, Bananas? It's like that... I think Scorched Earth is a bit more fun, and would be MUCH easier to adapt, but worms is decent enough. Here is Scorched Earth from back in the day (early 90s) And here is Scorched Earth 3D,
