Scorched Earth is awesome! Now I want Worms... It's been a while since I've played any games at all... but I recall that Worms was identical to Scorched Earth...
-
Honestly, Worms for the Jaguar is very cool. It reminds me of Scortched Earth (anyone ever play that?). You'll really like Atari Karts too... way better (in my opinion) than the comparable Nintendo variety that was offered during that time. Hah, honestly... you'll be pissed to know that I ended up opening all of them. I didn't think about the rarity of the system (at the time). I honestly think I have like 5 Atari Jaguars in my house, but I only have ONE left that's unopened in the box. I do still have another one in the box, but it's opened. I have one really beat-down Jaguar, and then two decent ones. I sold one of the other boxed ones, and then gave one to a friend a while back. Is World Tour Racing good? I'm not expecting Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed of course, but is it at least playable? By the way, your sig is totally from one of the old Ultima games, right? I think I asked this before but I forgot. I see the quote about moongates so I can only assume. Ultima 6 is still my all time favorite.

What kind of abuse did they receive? You mean the long hours of development and the struggle to get it manufactured? Or do you mean abuse from users or something???

Man, I hate to brag... but I'm so glad I had a little discretionary income several years ago when all of these games were on clearance. I remember when I first moved down to Florida back in late 1996, right out of high school... most of the stores were still carrying Atari stuff. I think Atari had JUST discontinued the system, and everything was put on clearance. Most people didn't bother buying the stuff, and over the next couple of years 96-99, I was able to buy basically 90% of a complete collection at rock bottom prices. I got brand new, in the box games like Doom, Alien VS Predator, Rayman, Wolfenstein 3D, etc... I got games like that for $4.88 at KB Toys, and then other games for $7.99 at places like Electronics Boutique (is that place still around?). I remember there was even a toy store chain (they had just been bought out by KB and were liquidating everything) and I was able to buy 4 (yes, FOUR) brand new, in the box complete Jaguar systems, two of them came with Cybermorph, and the other two were without, and each one was only $15 bucks. The CD games were the most expensive, and they were selling them for $12 bucks each. I got Dragons Lair, Braindead (forget the name) and all the others for like $13 bucks. It was a real kick in the nuts when I was used to buying at those prices, and realized I had to have them all and started to pay normal game prices from Telegames, GoAtari, and Songbird Productions. I'm still glad I got everything... I'm missing a couple of games (World Tour Racing, Charles Barklay, and Battlesphere of course)... but I'll get them sooner or later.
-
Man, it's tough.... Battleshphere, or a new paintjob on the 73 Oldsmobile Cutlass...
-
I kind of agree.... I'd really like to be able to download these games. That said, I don't support allowing the ROMs for games that are currently being sold by active sellers. For example, Sonbird Productions. I've actually bought all of his games (is that Carl Forhan? I've been out of the hobby for a while). Soccer Kid, Protector, Protector SE, Skyhammer, Hyper Force, and a couple of others (I forget). And of course the ones from Telegames... I bought all of those too. I've been slacking though, I think there's like 1 or 2 CD games I haven't bought yet... like World Tour Racing. I still want to get it... but I've just been putting it off. But like all the rare roms... that would be cool. There's some games I'll just never get the chance to see...

Yeah, he seemed like a decent seller / businessperson when I used to buy from him over the phone back in like 1998/1999... but the last couple of times I delt with him (back in like 2004 or something), he was totally different. I think he just got over it... didn't seem to care anymore.

Yeah, I recently sold at least 200 some odd items on eBay. I've been trying to clean out stuff... mostly all car parts. I also sold my 81 Trans Am and my 84 Porsche 944. I have too much "stuff" and I kind of wanted to simplify my life somewhat what with a new baby on the way. eBay really screwed up I think. Not three days after I sold the Porsche, they put up some kind of new policy for selling cars. They've basically just increased their profit by about 20%. Of course, that profit comes out of the seller's pocket. I'm not an eBay store or anything, just some dude cleaning out his closet basically... so I can only imagine how much of a pain it must be for all of those people who make it a living. In any case, eBay has the right to do whatever they want... but so do the people who use it... so... I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they start to lose business. eBay has become too bloated. It's a company that requires basically no overhead whatsoever. Bandwidth / hosting fees, computer programmers, and management. That's all that's needed... but they've ballooned (like most companies do) into a huge corporation, and for basically no reason at all. They have dozens of departments of people that do nothing more than play Solitaire, and come up with ideas and try to come up with marketing partnership deals. That's what happens when the owner of the company gives a "hands off" approach.

I actually wrote something like this in .NET a while back, just a real simple database application that allows you to build sections for each system you get. It was neat, but I honestly think the best thing to do, especially if you're going to go through the work, is to put it on the .NET Create yourself a web page somewhere, and catalog all of that stuff on the net. It's much more fun, and you can share it with people by sending a link. That's what I do with all my cars: http://www.PontiacPerformance.Net It's pretty easy... all my stuff is strictly HTML. Only a little bit of javascript, but that's only the cheesy menu on the main page.

Yeah, with fears on the economy, a LOT of people are selling their systems or getting completely out of the scene so to speak. My wife is pregnant, so I've been going through my entire "game" closet and selling a lot of stuff I never thought I would. Not that the economy is really all that bad, but a lot of people are fearing for the worst, so people are holding off or trying to recoupe some of their costs by selling everything again. I've noticed a lot of "collections" being sold on eBay. I sold my 7800 flash cart a while back too... never thought I'd sell that. I still have my Kroc cart, but I don't think I'm selling that. I've always tried to get CIB, but I'll always go for loose carts too.

I don't know if anyone has replied to this yet, but the Nintendo 8-Bit did in fact make use of that expansion bus on the bottom. I don't think officially by Nintendo, but when I went to prep school back in 1990-1992, a bunch of kids who were from Japan had 3.5" floppy drives that were hooked up to this port. This one kid had a bunch of games on floppy disk, and he would just stick them in, hold down the reset buttton, and when he released, the game would load from the 3.5 floppy. Pretty cool!

Yeah, man... that was like almost 4 years ago I posted this original thread. Hah... but yeah, I still have that XEGS. I was thinking of selling it, but I don't think I will. I'd like to start playing it at some point. With that said, what are some good XEGS / 8-Bit Computer games that they had on cartridge? Are there any decent adventure games? I assume that no game was ever made that permitted saving (like a Dungeons & Dragons game or anything?). Is this system basically like a 5200 more or less? What exactly did they plan to do with this system? I mean, was it supposed to be better than a 5200, better than a 7800?? Did it come out after the 7800? The pastel colors are pretty crazy... it's very Miami Vice-ish...
-
Hey guys, I'm thinking of selling my Krokodile Cartridge. I bought both this, and the one for the 7800 (forgot what it was called). Anyway, as it turns out, I'll never have any time to do any of this... programming for fun, or even playing my Atari 2600. I'm still keeping all my 2600 stuff, but I figured I'll probably never use this, and I might as well try to sell it to someone who can make use of it. I was thinking of putting it up on eBay, what do these things typically sell for right now? It's actually brand new, I've never even used it once. Thanks,

I love this thread. -
Hey guys, I'm selling a Magnavox Odyssey system on eBay. It comes with a bunch of boxed games. I'm also selling another game (Wall Street) which is fairly rare. Magnavox System + Games http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270256831512 Magnavox Wall-Street Game http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270256829317 Thanks for looking... Oh, I'm also selling my Porsche 944 and my 81 Trans Am if anyone is interested. I just bought a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass to drop my 7.5 liter Oldsmobile 455 big block into!!!
-
iu think the IS2 cart is more rare and sells for less, but it dont have those cool FMV cut scenes! its best to own both! yes the cd is cool!Cart is worth more than either cd. But songbirds prices are basedon a new game not used! Really? THat's cool... I didn't know that. I just bought the cart a few years ago because I didn't want to have to deal with load times on the CD.

What's with the picture? Hah... -
What would a 100% original and unopened 7800 be worth?
82-T/A replied to 82-T/A's topic in Atari 7800
Well, the post isn't that old. I do have two of them and it's unlikely that I'll need both of them. Make me an offer you don't think I can refuse. -
so that guy on ebay is legit? I saw that auction and thought it was fishy since he had "78 brand new CD-32's available" http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...rksid=p3907.m29 Yup, he sure is. We got two of them here at work. He doesn't ship them so great though... the systems are brand new, but both boxes (while immaculate) were dented somewhat. Not too bad, but the bottom one had the corner of the box pushed in about an inch.

What are you looking at? An 86-87 SE has a "notchback" with the "aero" package. It may or may not come with a spoiler. The only thing that designated an SE package was basically the following: 1 - Aero Package w/ Notchback body 2 - Auxilary Gauges (87 got the 120mph speedo) 3 - SE Interior (meant leather steering wheel, upgraded seats with Fiero badging, Fiero map pocket) 4 - Dual exhaust That's basically it. The SE could come with a 4 cyl, or a V6. It was really awkward because, being a 4 cyl, it still had the exact same dual exhaust as the V6 from the catalytic converter back (same one as used on the Indy). 86-88 GT Fieros had the FASTBACK body panels (the window after the door windows and the wrap around taillights). 85 GT Fieros were identical to 86-87 Fieros. If you're going to get a Fiero, I would recommend that you get an 87. The 87 has all the enhancements that the earlier years did not get (like the upgraded headlights, the slightly better electronics and wiring). But it still uses the same suspension components (meaning that the parts are cheaper). The 5-Speed getrag was also only available in the 87-88 model years (EXCEPT you could also get it in the 86 GT mid-year). The 88 is the best year to get, and the most performance oriented one is the 88 Formula 5-Speed. It has special suspension components though that are year specific. It does handle better, not in skidpad, but in slolam (no bump steer). I've had about 7 or 8 Fieros, not sure... exactly. But this is my first one, and the only one I currently own: Mine has a luggage rack, which is also an option. You could pick a luggage rack, a spoiler, or nothing (same goes for all models). This picture is a little bit old. It's about 7 years old now. The paint is a little bit faded now, so I'm probably going to get it repainted. I've got two decklids. One with a spoiler, and the original one without. When I get it painted, I will have both painted so I can take my pick. Haha... the trunk lids are easy to take off and put back. Those wheels are also from a GT. They are the 15x7" wheels. The SE only came stock with 14" wheels. Anyway, let me know if / when you decide to get one. Like I said, I've owned 7 of them. I've cut up a couple, restored a few... if there's one thing I know almost everything about, it's Pontiac Fieros (wasted space in my brain). If you get a V6, you can go and buy a junkyard 3.4 from a 93-95 Chevy Camaro or Firebird and it drops RIGHT in. You have to drill for a new starter bolt hole, but everything else drops in. I actually used to have another 1987 Fiero SE / V6 which was a bare bones car. I hated to do it, but I absolutely could NOT get a title for it, so I ended up cutting it up and stripping it for parts. The previous owner (in another state) basically said that if he couldn't have the car, no one was going to have it. It was a base 1987 SE, and it was loaded with all the performance options. Spoiler, 5-Speed getrag manual, hardtop (no sunroof), WS6 performance suspension package (stiffer springs and shocks), and that's it. The ONLY other option it had was A/C. It had crank windows, non-tilt steering wheel, nothing... In it's hey-day, it probably ran a flat 15 in the quarter considering the fact that it probably weighed close to 2,500 pounds. (as apposed to the loaded ones like mine which weigh in around 2,700 pounds). Anyway, when you're ready to buy one, shoot me an e-mail. [email protected] That particular one was a special paint color for that year. The advertising sloagan for that year was "The Fiero goes Gold!". It was a one-year only paint color. The ONLY thing I don't like about that year is that the SEs only got the 85mph speedometer (it can do closer to 130mph). There was a government law that prohibited cars from having a speedometer that went over 85... something about people being scared and not wanting to go faster than their car says they're going. You can get a speedo from an 87 or 88 and it'll drop right in.

Hahahah!!! That's funny as s**t!!! Yeah, I know what you mean. That's what I tell people when I say that I have 1 of 1,100 ever built of the 1987 Pontiac Fiero SE / V6. They say... "I'll give you $1000 bucks for it!".
-
No, mine just came with that backward "C" shaped one (that's in the lower left corner of the picture on the box). Mine is actually NTSC though. I didn't know about the new old stock. I think the law suite had something to do with Commodore not paying a certain licensing or something???? Most of the games I've been looking at have all been PC titles (like XCOM, and whatnot). Seems pretty cool! Mine is actually NTSC. That's pretty cool... thanks for the link!

I've owned a few arcade games. The very first one I bought was Missile Command. I bought it in the back of a warehouse of a place called "Mr. PacMan". The place was moving and he had a bunch of stuff back there. This was one of the games he decomissioned. He had all kinds of stuff from that Era, but that game for some reason stuck with me. He plugged it in and it worked. Total with delivery was $250 (this was in 1997). I played it once, and burned out a rom. I took the board out and brought it to him. He said he knew someone who could work on it. I never saw that board again, and the guy ended up moving. So, the cabinet sat empty like that from 1997 til about 2005. I put it in storage for most of that time thinking one day I would work on it. Fast forward a few years, I was searching on eBay and bought a "working" PCB for $90. I brought the machine back home from storage and put in the board, and it didn't work. Apparently one of the roms was dead. I searched and searched and found this place called Arcade Shop where I bought a Missile Command daughter card. Basically, it goes inline of the 6502 chip. That fixed it. I also ordered a bunch of other stuff from them and rebuilt the buttons, the coin mechanisms, and the T molding, the control cover, and rebuilt the trackball. I play it every once in a while... I mean, there's only so much you can do with Missile Command, but it's awesome. And it fills that "void" in me every time I walk into that room and see that arcade machine! hahaha... I've also got a Galaga that I bought for my wife (although the cabinet is totally busted). I used to have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet that was a JAMMA cabinet. I then would randomly buy cheap Jamma boards on eBay and swap them in and out. It was pretty cool. With the exception of a few classics (like the original raster Asteroids, or something like that), I probably wouldn't buy another arcade machine. I would realistically just look into building a MAME cabinet.

Picked up 2 cocktails: Asteroids Deluxe and Missile Command
82-T/A replied to Lost Monkey's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Hey Lost Monkey! If no one else has mentioned it yet, 9 times out of 10, the problem with the Missile Command PCB is due to the roms. I have a standup Missile Command which I've more or less restored (it was already in decent shape, just fixed a few things and repaired the PCB). I bought a daughter board from a place called "Arcade Shop". This is their URL: Arcade Shop This is what I bought: Missile Command Daughter Board It's called the "Multi-Game Kit". So... I mean, Billy Mitchell might tell you it's not authentic, but it's the full Missile Command. It's great because it includes both Missile Command and something called Super Missile Attack. It also stores your high scores on flash rom (without needing power backup). It actually stores everything on rom. Rather than needing to deal with all of the dip switches to adjust all the settings, he's created a special configuration screen which you can use to set everything using the trackball and buttons. It works awesome. I set mine to $0.50 per game (you can also set it to free play). So... if I want to play, I have to put in 50 cents.... (which I empty once a year and put into an ING savings account. I'll eventually move it over to a 403b for eduacational purposes for my kids). Anyway, he has a bunch of other stuff... like the cone caps for the buttons, rebuild kits for the track balls, side art, etc, etc.... By the way, don't know if you know... but they made a "sit down" Missile Command back in the day. How awesome is that? Let me see if I can find a picture on Google... Here you go:
