  1. Hey guys, I've got a Jaguar and all the accessories and stuff, but I am thinking of building a MAME cabinet (with a computer) that I can play my games on. I'd prefer to keep everything in the box and in the closet and just play something that I can switch between systems. I've already got an NES emulator, a game boy emulator, an Atari 2600, 5200 and Genesis emulator as well as a few others. Just wondering if I can get a Jaguar one. Of course, I'd need to be able to download the roms too... ??? Thanks!
  2. Hey guys, Don't know if anyone cares, but there is a guy on eBay who is selling BRAND NEW Amiga CD-32 systems. I think they came out around 1992. I'm an Atari person, there is no doubt about it... but there are actually a lot of really decent games for it. He's selling them for $50 bucks I think, and then another $50 for shipping (it's from China). My boss and I both bought one and had them shipped together and I just picked them up. It's kind of funny... apparently this system never really sold in the US due to a law suite of some sort. I really hate to say it, but a lot of the games I'm looking at that came with it (XCOM, Defender of the Crown 2, etc...) are actually better than many of the Jaguar games. It appears to me to be an "xBox of the mid 90s" so to speak... This is just a picture I pulled off the internet:
  3. CRAP!!! I already paid!!! Damnit... This day is not going well...
  4. I just found one! This thing is awesome! Atari 4-Button A/V Modifier
  5. Yeah, that's probably a good bet. Well, by February of 2009, all of those channels should be done, which will be a good thing because then I can finally play my Atari! hahah... Like Rybags said, do you know about an RCA mod? I'd love to be able to just hook up RCA cables... I'm really surprised the 7800 didn't come with that from the factory.
  6. I'm so mad. I tried hooking up my Atari 2600 to my tv in the family room. It's a newer tv of course, in this case a flatscreen. I hooked it up using the switch box and into the cable jack in the back of the TV. We have local channels on 2 and 3, and for the life of me, I COULD NOT get my 2600 to come up with any kind of clarity. It looked like complete crap. I have 12 Atari 2600s of varying models, and none of them worked. The Coleco Gemini was the one that worked the best, but it still looked totally aweful on the TV. It was so bad that it wouldn't even show up in color. I finally brought in this old TV I have in the closet that I keep, more as a joke than anything else. It's an old 14" Zenith television that's avacado green with some sort of wicker basket looking front. It came from my grandmother, it's got a bunch of vacuum tubes and whatnot. After letting it warm up for 3 minutes, it finally came to and there was a picture, and I was able to play it on that. WHAT do I need to do to be able to play these old systems on my newer TV? It's as if there just isn't enough signal strength coming from the system to properly display on the newer TVs. I know about the RCA to coax connector. I've got a couple of those, although I couldn't find one to save my life right now... but isn't there something better? Maybe an RF to RCA demodulator or something? There's got to be a better way??? Thanks...
  7. There are theer versions don't forget the one and only Battlesphere trio. This why no one is going to have a complete collection. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Atari-Jaguar-Battl...1QQcmdZViewItem Yeah, and like Clint said, I also don't have a CatBox! I almost bought one back when they were selling them new, but just didn't bother. So I guess I don't have the COMPLETE collection. There should be a line drawn (ahahah) for collectors who want to get all of the normal Atari production stuff, so to speak. Meaning, every game that was released during the regular production of the Jaguar. That will at least make it easier for collectors. So at least there is an end in sight. I doub't I would ever spend that much for a single copy of a game with 90s graphics. I've never played the game, but it doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't want to sell the rights of that game to say Songbird Productions and then sell a Songbird version? I mean, realistically, no one will ever be able to retire on an Atari collection. Not like say... someone who has an original 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible in silver, with side pipes, and the dual holley carb powered 427 cubic inch v8. So that said, you're not really "hurting" the people who have spent the money on Battlesphere by re-releasing it in a more production friendly version by Carl. I've bought all of his games so far. Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm not that guy that has the Battlesphere Trio! Hahah...
  8. Yeah, I thought about it long and hard, and definitely could not bring myself to sell it. I mean, I still get a huge kick out of playing pretty much any one of those games. And I realize all too often that there are some I still haven't even played yet, or spent much more than 5 minutes playing. Not that I don't want to play them, but I just don't have time. I just need to make time. I've gone through my stuff and sold a bunch of duplicate stuff. Not a whole lot, but I just got rid of like 15 laptops that I had in my guest bedroom closet. It's not like I bought them, but you know... if people know that you know how to fix cars, or fix computers, they always beg you to work on their stuff (or whatever). And often times, someone will have an old laptop that they no longer use or need and they offer it to you for free, so I just accept it. So before I realized it, I had like 15 laptops ranging from 286s all the way up to Pentium IIIs. What the hell could I possibly do with all of them? And just in the past minute of writing this, I just sold two KayPro computers... hahah... The closet is so clean now, I can actually go in there, and easily pull out the game system I want to play. It's awesome. I want to sell my spare Jag CD drive, but they're going for CHEAP on eBay right now... (like ~$50), so I'll probably wait until the prices go back up (if they ever do?).
  9. Apparently he LIVES in Minnesota... Who is Jack Schitt?
  10. I definitely think they're cool. I have to keep them in bigger boxes right now... but something like that would be nice.
  11. Very cool... I'd love to be able to play the 5200 on a projection screen like that! Nice brick wall by the way, with a few candles or a nice fireplace (maybe off to the side) that could be a pretty pimp place to take a girl for a drink at the end of the night.
  12. If you happen to live in South Florida, there is a place here called the $wap $hop. There are two of them actually, but the biggest one is located in Hollywood off Surise Boulevard. I used to go there a LOT when I was a bit younger (when I first moved here out of high school), but in the past 5-6 years, I haven't had much time to go what with work, career, etc... Last time I went there though (about a year ago) it was the same as it was before. It's basically 2 square miles of stuff... they have an indoor facility with a bunch of cool stuf (ethnic stores, as well as... I dunno, pretty much whatever). But the outdoor stuff has literally thousands of booths. You've got to go there early though, because it will literally take you something like 4-5 hours walking around to see everything, and that's just speed walking through the isles. It's almost like walking down a large market place in New Dehli. In any case, they have all kinds of stuff. I bought two brand new Atari 2600 Vader Systems in the box (in some weird cardboard cartons). I also bought a BRAND NEW Nintendo "Action Set" brand new in the box, for $15 bucks. I've been going there for about 10 years now. Truthfully... the big bins with complete Atari 5200 systems, controllers, and games are not as frequent as they were 7-8 years ago. But they still have a ton of stuff. Game systems often trickle down so to speak, to the poorer households and many of these people make their living selling older used stuff at these flea markets. What with the older people passing away in the retirement homes, or the estate sales, and the evictions of some of the poorer families, you end up with a lot of Atari, NES, and Sega stuff at these flea markets. It's totally random. You might be walking down an isle and spot a booth that has like 4 Atari catridges and then nothing else. The place also has a cool car collection. The owner of the Swap Shop used to be a race car driver, so he has a collection of Ferraris on display, including a multi-million dollar 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (Quad-Cam), and the original white Ferrari Testerossa that was used in the filming of the last 4 seasons of Miami Vice. It's pretty cool...
  13. If anyone cares, I put some more stuff up on eBay. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ73vwtodd Some random Atari stuff, and some pong units. (as well as some other crap).
  14. Oh man, that's awesome. I would actually buy that, seriously... that would be pretty cool!
  15. Hey, isn't that image from Submarine Commander for the Atari 2600? I've got that game. Pretty cool!
  16. Links links links!!! Hah, well... I don't have much up right this minute, but I'm going to be putting some stuff up on eBay this weekend. I've decided that I'm getting rid of all of my "PONG" variants, and I've got a lot of duplicate stuff that I'm going to get rid of as well. So far, the only Jaguar thing I'm getting rid of is a "Team Tap". I'll have some Atari stuff, Commodore stuff, and some other stuff... Here is my user ID / link to my auctions: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ73vwtodd I don't normally sell stuff... I think I've sold all of about 7 items on eBay.
  17. Yeah... you bring up a really good point. I wonder if there's anyone out there that is trying to collect ALL of the Pong Systems. It's crazy because those were the EARLY years of video gaming, so there were sooo many different players, and other than Atari... you just didn't know who was going to come out as a major player. You're definitely right though... no point in keeping them, especially if I myself have no interest in playing them. I'll blow them out on eBay. Thanks!!!
  18. I'm going through a similar thing myself. We've had a house for a few years now, but my wife is pregnant now, and I'm going through a similar "phase". The only advice I can give (which I think might be too late) is don't do anything rash. Game systems... really... don't take up THAT much space unless you've got them all "in the box". I definitely would have recommended the Saturn (but you already have one). The Wii will enable you to get pretty much any game from previous Nintendo systems (from what I understand)... so, I would probably say an xBox 360. However, I'm not personally into more modern games... so I can't really say. I would have recommended keeping your Atari Jaguar though. I don't think the Jag CD is worth having (really) unless you want to buy some of the latest homebrews or are trying to complete a collection, but there are a lot of awesome games for the Jag (as you probably know). Most of that other stuff, the GameBoy, NES, etc... you can get all on emulation using NESticle, etc. Honestly, I would have kept the Jaguar.
  19. Hey guys, I've just emptied out my entire closet which is nothing but video games. I'm trying to locate duplicates, take inventory of everything I have, and figure out what I want to get rid of and what I want to keep. Well, I've got a bunch of game systems that are basically PONG variants. Is there any value to those? It seems like (basically) every company in the world considered or attempted to get into the video game (PONG) market back then. I've got something called Indy 500 which is basically a block dodging other blocks (B&W) with two detachable controllers. I have something called a Rally-IV, which is basically your garden variety of hand-ball, jai-alai, tennis, and anything else you can do with a digital block. I've got a couple of other systems similar to that as well, and also a gun game made by Daisy (some shooting game that also has built in pong games as well). Do those have any real value to a collection? Obviously I'm going to keep all the name brand stuff... like Coleco, and the Atari pong variants... but is it worth while to keep the other stuff? I'm running low on space in the closet, and I'd really like to unload some of this other stuff. In all truthness, I wouldn't be upset if those non-brand name systems dissapeared. I would happily sell them on eBay. I know there's no way I could ever collect all of them, and I never play those... so, what do you guys think? Should I just get rid of them on eBay? Thanks!
  20. Damn, that's pretty cool! About the JC Penny's sticker... I always used to think that it hurt the outside of the box (the value) since it clearly messes up the box, but I think it's kind of cool since it tells a little bit about the story of where it came from. $119 bucks! Damn, in 1978... that was a LOT of money back then.... that would be like spending $500 bucks.

    Man...

I just showed my wife that I pulled 9 Atari 2600s out of the closet, and I haven't even gotten to the ones in boxes, or the 3 in my Missile Command, or the two hidden in the cabinet in the family room, or the one in cabinet in the bedroom, or the one in the guest bedroom, and she told me there's something wrong with me. The only thing I can figure, and I've said this before... is that... when my mom was pregnant with me, the first thing she did was go out and buy an Atari VCS back in late 1977, and played it all through her pregnancy until I was born in 1978... it's the only thing I can figure that explains my clear OCD with Atari products...

    Man...

You guys suck... all this talk about Atari, I couldn't help myself and I'm cleaning out the closet. I'm taking out all my games I haven't even gotten to the shelves yet (just unloaded all the boxes) and I've already found 9 Atari 2600s... that doesn't even include the ones that are in boxes, and the three that I have sitting inside my Missile Command cabinet. I really have waaay too much stuff. I've got to start unloading some of this. I definitely don't need duplicates. Every time I go to this site, it's like I re-live my childhood. I just rehashed my entire childhood re-occuring dream about breaking into Toys R' Us late at night and taking all the Atari cartridges. Atari Age post
  23. Man, that's awesome. I live in South Florida, so we don't have basements, but if I had a basement, I would buy that in a second!!! That is too cool!
  24. Hey, that's cool... I've got that 5200 adaptor thing. I didn't know it played Atari 7800 games too? Mine has the same dimensions as that, but it doesn't have the big silver / metal sticker with the rainbow. Does mine maybe only play 2600 games?
  25. and michal was wearing a space invaders shirt.... it also could be asteroids, they talked about it in the movie Man, the 80s was so awesome... I totally want to go back, at least just for a couple of weeks. I was born in 1978, so I grew up with Atari and the 80s basically. I mean, I was a kid, so... I didn't go to night clubs or anything, I was a little bit younger than the kids in Goonies. But man, I can remember as a kid, walking into Toys R' Us, and walking down that video game isle... it was amazing... WALL TO WALL Atari 2600 games... I mean, every game you could imagine. It was 75% Atari, and then there was that fancy new section for the Atari 5200... and then a smaller section for the Coleco Vision. And then the glass cabinets on the other side of the video game wall which had all the systems on display... the wireless Atari 2600 remote controlls... the track-ball... Man, when I was a kid, I dreamed almost every night of breaking into the Toys R' Us, (through the ceiling like in the Pink Panther movies), and totally raiding the video game "shack" that they had near the exit. (cause remember, they didn't have the games there, you had to take the little sheets, buy the game, and then go to the shack to pick it up afterwards). Man... and I had an Asteroids T-shirt (like a baseball shirt, sleeves and arms were blue, the center was white with the Asteroids graphic). Damn...
