  1. Rare I get this kind of message. Seller claims he sent the items but then they never arrived. He was actually pretty cool and offered to replace them, although with different games- pretty much allowed him to substitute 2 crummy titles for a good one. I said ok. Everything arrived more than a month after the auction ended. I gave him + feedback with a 2/5 for shipping. I guess he was pretty bummed.

Why did you rate me down on shipping time?

You paid for free shipping and I was not responsible for the lost package - YOU ARE. You chose not to pay for tracking.

As a a decent person, OI gave you 5 games instead of the 2 you bought - and many extras, and paid for tracking on top of everything else.

And then you go arpound and rate me down on ship time?

This is the problem with you white people and your white privilege.

Think about ehat you've done here and the kind of arrogant, ugly behaviour this was on your part.

    HAHAAHH!!! That is hilarious.

I'm sorry to laugh, but that is some funny shit right there.

Honestly, I wouldn't really care... but the truth is, a lot of people feel emboldened today to be racist towards white people, because they seem to think it's NOT racist when it's only white people being singled out. But imagine how ape-shit people would be if you replaced the word white in there with any other ethnicity?

So... to that point, you kind of HAVE to treat it the same, otherwise you'd be doing the very thing he's doing.

Here's the number, let us know how it goes:

  2. Man, you guys are making me want to unload all of my Jaguar games.

I literally have every Jaguar game ever made, except BattleSphere Gold and Gorf 2000, and I do have those, but they're Etsy repros.

I should say, I have all the decent ones. There have been a couple of homebrews that have come out in the past couple of years that I haven't been pleased with. But anything that someone put even some effort into, I bought them all.

  3. I just bought a sealed copy of Iron Soldier and to my dismay I found it was completely empty and devoid of a circuit board. Was this an uncommon factory defect or was I duped? It looks completely legit otherwise like all the other NOS Jag games Ive purchased: old hangtab under the seal, guide ad and Jag club mailer, manual, real overlay, etc. Doesnt seem worth the trouble for $30 if it was intentional and the seller offered a refund without me needing to send it back. Maybe this is rare and valuable :P

It's about as rare and valuable as an OPENED / non-working Iron Soldier cart for the Atari Jaguar... lol.

Yeah, that's bad luck. This is a pretty big screw-up I think... not as bad as broken 5200 joysticks... but still. Pretty uncommon.

  4.

I had no idea that these old sound cards were actually worth anything.

Back in about 1996, I bought an original AdLib card CIB for like Cdn$5 at an electronics flea market. It was used (and a bit dusty), but it included all of the original manuals and software. Even then, finding Windows 3.1 driver software was something of a challenge -- the default drivers would play music but not sound effects. My PC did not ship with a sound card, so this was my very first experience installing and configuring a card.

That PC ultimately went to friends of the family a few years later when I moved and upgraded my hardware. I assume that it was long-ago recycled.

It's weird... I think it's worth a lot solely for the collectability of them. The basic adlib doesn't offer anything that any other non-PnP OPL2-based card offers. So, if someone was just looking for Adlib sound, they could get that from literally any 8-bit compatible sound card that was available in the mid to late 90s.

But, it's period correct in a newer 8088 or an 80286 computer.

  5. When you're THIS late to the party, I guess it makes sense to make a grand entrance.

This is what I call fashionably on-time. You're NEVER late to an Atari-party!

Quick! Someone send him the link to the AtariBox so I won't be the only one on here with one!

  6. Hey guys.

I purchased a broken Famicom during a recent trip to Japan, and I've been trying to figure out what the heck's wrong with it. I get absolutely nothing when I turn it on - I'm using an Atari RF switch and I've tried the TV on channels 95 and 96, but no dice.

From my research so far, it sounds like the most likely things to go on these are the power switch, the fuse on the power/RF board or the 7805 regulator (also on the power/RF board.) My multimeter confirmed the power switch and fuse are fine - but how would I go about checking the regulator?

And if replacing that doesn't do the trick, what's next?

    Thanks a lot,

    -=ShoEboX=-

I assume you've already figured out and resolved the whole 120 vs 220 and NTSC vs PAL thing?

  7. I remember buying 4 Dreamcasts due to issues and all of them broke by either the drive failing or power issues.

Oddly the 5Th DC I got, the black sports one, works to this day, and that's with years of bootleg discs too. Since then I got 5 more white DCs between 2004-2009, all of those broke by 2014. My friend got two black ones and two white ones at the same time and one of his blacks ones is the only one of the 4 still workimg. Today.

    Curious.

Was that a big problem for them?

I bought a used white one off eBay many years ago... I dunno... maybe 10 years ago?

I don't play it all that often, but I have a bunch of games for it, and it plays really well. Never had any problems with it. I also have a Saturn which I love...

  8. I had a Cuttle Cart 2, and sold it on here. I wasn't even planning on it, but said... "Only way I'd get rid of it is if someone offered me $500 for it..." it was an off-handed comment, and before I knew it, I had like three PMs offering me $500... so I was like, OKAY.

I think I only paid $78 for it or something when I bought it, and I told the guy repeatedly that I felt bad selling it for $500 (that didn't stop me of course), but I threw in shipping for free.

  9. "Ken Bowles, the UC San Diego software engineer who helped popularize personal computers, dies at 89"

    "...

Bowles and his team also adopted and modified Pascal, an early programming language that was opening up computer science. The modified version became known as UCSD Pascal and was widely used to teach people how to program.

    ..."

Pascal is the first programming language I ever learned.

My first couple of jobs were Delphi programming jobs (Visual Pascal). I miss those days. I LOVED Pascal.

  10. Who needs remakes if the old games still are playable and you have access to either the hardware or an emulator thereof? I play Stunts semi-regularly, mainly on my FleaFPGA loaded with the Next186 core.

Besides when people talk about "early" PC games, I'm thinking of titles such as Sopwith, Bouncing Babies and the alike, not stuff from the early or mid 1990's.

    YES!!!!

For me, I had the EARLY version of Sopwith, when it was called REDBARON.EXE.

    BABY3.EXE (Bouncing Babies)

    Oh! How about these?

    GRIME.EXE

    PTROOPER.EXE

    MONOPOLY.EXE

    STARTREK.EXE

    SPACEWAR.EXE

    STARGATE.EXE

    CHESS2.EXE

    BRICKS.EXE

    PANGO.EXE

    … what am I missing!

I spent SOOOO many hours playing those games.
