  1. im considering moving from virgin mobile prepay to a monthly fee provider. one of my considerations for a provider is the ability to download emulated games into the phone. the websites for most providers are not forthcoming with lists of available games . t mobile has the PDA type devices like sideckick II but cant find any info on using it as a playing machine . games im interested in for playing on the phone is clasic arcade like tetris and burgertime. any suggestions

  3. not too confortable opening the vcs. no prob . get a can of keyboard cleaner aerosol. very safe on electronics . its always beter if you take it apart and runt it in the dishwasher as previously advised . i like balsting compresed air on the board to get rid off all the hair and dirt . clean vcs is an everlasting vcs

  4. Thanks for the info Senor Huevo, I looked at my box of assorted power supplies and ALL of em are 9volt so I might make a trip to Radio Shack and try to find one that is 6 I am really curious about what games are built into this thing.

Señor Huevo :lolblue: , i ike that may change my name to that some day . dont recomend geting adapters at radio shack . they only carry 300ma units and are very expensive . thrift around . if not make a power pack using an RS 4 AA battery holder part number 270-409. they go for about 2 bucks and has a nice on off switch .

    270-409.jpg

  5. NES is still plentifull . $50 bucks is a little steep unles sis a good bundle with a coupe of games and advantage joysticks . have you tried the game crasyes . the carry them for $40 with 2 controllers around these parts. in comparison with famiclones . you canot beat madein japan quality . replace the cart conector and you will l have NES forever

  6. NES suply is 9v and will fry your power joy. power joy runs on 6v . most of these super joys run from 4 AA bateries . the amp requirements are minimal so just get a 6 volt power adapter. most aswering machines and cordless phoes at thrifts use 6volt adapters so its a good source

  7. now that you finished it it time to play with cheats . my fave is spawning antlion guards or fast zombies in the middle of combine soldiers . well known cheats but for those who dont know here is a few of my faves;

    first thing first is to enable cheats in console ;

    sv_cheats 1

to spawn a guerrila that will follow you with the rocket launcher :

    npc_create_equipment weapon_rpg

    npc_create npc_citizen

you can bind this to a specific ke like the F1 by typoing in console

    bind F1 npc_create_equipment weapon_rpg; npc_create npc_citizen

to create citizens with diferent weapons just change the weapon_rpg line to these other weapons

    to make the submachinegun

    weapon_smg1

    to make the shotgun

    weapon_shotgun

to make the combine assault rifle

    weapon_ar2

the ravenholm episode becomes really enyoyable when you got a trusty cityzen covering your 6

you can spawn vortigaunts that are ultra cool . they wont follow you but will own the battlefield with electroatacks

    npc_create npc_vortigaunt

to create the antlion queen to really mix it up with the combine . although it wont be friendly

    npc_create npc_antlionguard

and finally the uber evill fast snarling zombie

    npc_create npc_fastzombie

there are lots more . why not try spawning a fazt zombie at the train station at the begining of the game . watch the metro cops run like hell :D

  8. i find titles of the PSX and N64 era have not aged as well as the 16 bit generation due to the fact the they where trying to do things that was beyond the technology of the day . specially with all the 3d games with very low triangle counts and ugly 320 by 240 resolution while 2d sidescrollers wich would have been unstopable in those systems ,with a few exceptions ,where nearly forgotten. the 16 bit machines didnt even try to go beyond their ability and succeded in the games that the technology could handle very well; 2d sidescrollers , with the ultimate expresion IMHO "flashback" for the genesis and the megaman series for SNES. forays into 3d where limited and not overambitious . some standouts would be M1 abrams and Mig 29 for the genesis and of course starfox for the snes . but even then it was simple poligons and not overly complicated . anything more complex was left to the pc market . i do still enjoy some PSX games. the colony wars series. bushido blade 2 , G police, and the original Gran turismo. anithing else looks really dated

  9. im sure by now they got a look at how well the commodore stick did and realise that people will wait and pay a premium ($30) for genuine hardware, software , and expandability , not NES on a chip crap that has more in comon with flea market famiclones . they should hire C64 uberbabe jeri elsworth to make a a succesor for the flashback . you know she is into atari . look at her shirt for crying out loud.

  10. i felt the ending was very weak as well. reminded me of the also ultra lame ending from blue shift, if anyone ever played that . . there is no excuse for the game being so short and the ending so lame . with halo 2 they can make up the excuse that development time was short (if 3 years is to be considered short) HL2 has been in the works way longer than that

  11. i just got 3 of them for $10 each . i dont think its a flop since the tv games ones are now priced at $14.99 so it a competitive price . im willing t sell one for $15 and that includes USPS shipping, wich means absolutely no profit for me in the interest of helping an unlucky AAer who doensnt have a kb nearby . i take paypal. that is US only . foreign orders i would have to find out about shipping

  12. the firs video game system i ever had as a kid was pong . it was about 1982 or 83 ( i grew up in Mexico so we where always a little behind the times ) is dont remeber the brans bu i believe it was a magnavox or an emmerson . it was just magical to be able to move objects on the tv. played up until 1984 when we finally got the atari 2600 . last i remeber of that pong system was in 1988 when i was left behind in the house in the same box my 2600 was when we moved to the US . i never saw it again

  13. the good:awesome graphics . incredibly smart enemy AI. i love the whole premise of a very near future technology in decay world. configurable to run in the most anemic of systems like mine ati radeon 9200, amd athlon xp 2500 1.8Ghz 512mb ram . i only noticed frame drop in the very last chapter. very intriguing story line . SDK released soon after game release like in HL1 guaranteeing a new wave of addons and mods

the bad. the stutering problem , nuff said . the weapons are not very balanced .the most usefull weapon in the game is the shotgun but it only has 6 shells and the ammo you can carry is very limited. the combine overwatch rifle is a joke . very small ammo capacity and very little diference in lethality from the smg. the captured land mines are totally usseles they inpair your field of view and dont have long range and the ai is smart enough to dodge them. not enough variety in enemies . HL1 had more variety in critters and smart enemies . just 3 types of combine soldiers are not enough and i could not notice the diference in overwatch and the white elites . and again the ending leaves much to be desired . no spoilers from me but i would have liked more information at the end like HL1

conclusion. with its flaws the game still great .everyone must experience it

  14. halflife 2 (PC)

    halo2 (XBOX)

    Battlefield 1942. forgotten hope mod(PC)

like most around here i have been blown away by halflife 2 ina am geting a litile bit of carpal tunnel sindrome form playing 5 hours straigth . just finished Halo 2 and like everyone else love the game hate the ending . battlefield 1942 is an older game by now and does not offer too much in its stock form not like call off duty, the forgotten hope Mod is the answer to keep this game going . tons of historical weapons, vehicles , and maps tha compete with more recent games of the genre , showing this game engine still has a lot off life left in it
