  1. This is where I draw the line Might not be bad if whoever did this knew what the heck they were doing. That case is ruined.
  2. I've seen several of your posts before, figured you are a purist when it comes to the 2600 nothing wrong with that and I respect that as well. I've seen though on ebay before I swear people do nothing but an LED mod clean them up and list them for $100 bucks give or take and they sell, no cables or nothing just listed as replacement console. Then when you get into A/V mods and stuff I've seen $140 to $180 just a console only. EDIT: I think I was mistaken I must have seen some that sold with LED plus some other types of mods included because I just looked again and couldn't find any LED only mods.
  3. Here in US we call it single phase. Looks like he is in Germany and you are in France so all of our wiring is different probably. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but in France you have 240V for everything correct, and single phase? Well, here in US we have single phase 240V but the transformer is center tapped to give us our 120V from center(neutral which is also grounded) to either hot. So we would have issue in US as well with a loose neutral because most of everything we run except for big appliances runs off of 120V which requires neutral. Not sure how Germany is wired though.
  4. Maybe it felt heavy to him. When I get ready to sell some 4 switch units I might put "Heavy 4s" in the title.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. I have two 4 switch units I'm working on now, one I've already a/v modded before the post and I put the rca jacks in the middle of the back where the joystick ports are on the 6ers but thought I'd ask before I do the next one because I eventually plan on selling them. I got them both in a lot on ebay for 40 bucks came with controllers and stuff, looked very dirty but case not cracked or broken in any way. Got them cleaned up nice and got them working, just waiting on some more parts to come in now. I'm experimenting around with these units to find what I like best before doing any more. Once I figure exactly how I want to do these things I'll be able to roll with them. I think if I go with a power LED I'll probably use red because that is what I believe would have been used at the time had they included them due to the price and availability. And that is kind of another question I have there as well, should I put it beside the word "ON" to the left or instead center it up and down to the left of the on/off switch? Me personally I think to the left of "ON" would look better than centered up and down.
  6. That sounds like a good option as well, thank you. I've never owned a raspberry PI. Can it have apps like youtube, sling, vudu, etc.?
  7. I have one, rev 13 board with serial number 81161852. EDIT: Kingtek Electronics with purple label. Taiwan
  8. Now if I could just find a lot of refurbished TIA chips for around same price that would be great too to have lying around .
  9. I wasn't being serious when I asked how they refurbish the chips I just thought it was funny that they had it in that category.
  10. I haven't got around to modding the Rev 13 board yet as I was planning this weekend as I had a lot of work around the house to do. Instead I did do some documentation on jailbars before doing any modding so I would know if there were a difference pre and post mod. I'll try to get back to working on this unit either this week after work or next weekend and I will measure the video output to see if it is any different than the Rev 14 was(I doubt it will be with this board and think it will also have a weak signal but I think it could perhaps be better on the prior revisions with the buffer chips but not sure till I get some more units to mod and test with A/V mod).
  11. Update on the Rev 13 and 14 boards so don't have to look back and forth at my edits. Both the 13(unmodded) and Rev 14(modded) unit had jailbars. They were much more visible on the modded unit. I tested with several games. One game Ms Pac Man only had visible jailbars on the maze and characters or at least on first level and opening seen. I added a 0.001 uF disc capacitor across the video output and ground and it cleared up a lot of the vertical lines in the maze on ms pac man and I believe they are fainter in Space Invators so all in all it more matches the video output of the unmodded Rev 13 board which also showed jailbars in Space Invaders. Still not perfect but I'm going to keep playing with it. I just tried the Rev 13 board tonight which hadn't been modded and I didn't realize until trying it that it was going to have jailbars as most of the complaints I've seen are after A/V modding.
  12. CX2600A Rev 13 RF has jailbars EDIT: Noticed this unit first had them on Space Invaders but pretty faint, then tried Ms Pac Man, and I didn't notice any on that game. My rev 14 modded A/V had bad jailbars on the maze in ms pacman but I cleared them up a lot with a capacitor on the output, see post above.
  13. CX2600A Rev 14 A/V modded(2 resistor and 1 transistor mod, also 75 ohm on video output to ground) has jailbars EDIT: I only checked this unit on an 8" LCD screen before the mod to see if it worked, probably had them before but I didn't check on a screen big enough to notice jailbars. EDIT 2: I managed to greatly clear up the jailbars on this unit. It still has the same ones seen on Space Invaders that I had also on my Rev 13 unit but Ms Pacman had bad jailbars in the maze that rev 13 didn't have. I added a 0.001 microfarad disc cap on the output to ground on this Rev 14 board(I tried with a .0047 microfarad and it completely eliminated the jailbars on ms pacman but the colors were washed out so I stuck with the 0.001 microfarad and you can barely see them now).
  14. I'm starting this to help try to pinpoint the source of jailbars on Atari 2600 consoles but I need your help. I've heard that not all models exhibit the jailbars after A/V mod(2 resistor and 1 transistor) and would like to see if that is true and to know which particular boards do not have the issue if any. If you have a board that has them or doesn't have them whether A/V modded, S-Video Modded, or not modded at all please post and let me know. For example if you have jailbars and have not modded your system, and you have a CX2600A, rev 12 board you would write... CX2600A, Rev 12, RF, has jailbars And if you did mod your system it would be... CX2600A, Rev 12, A/V mod(2 resistor, 1 transistor), has jailbars These were just examples I have no clue whether rev 12 does or doesn't. Please be specific on which mod you have done as well if you post. Please include any model up to Jr consoles. Pictures would be great but not necessary. Also as well if you have done anything that has removed the jailbars please post as well. I will make the first post under here with a Rev 14 board.

  16. I found this on google image search but couldn't find the actual ebay page with the item
  17. Yes. Not sure yet if either of the ones supplied with either flashback or the android box will power both yet until I see the android box, if not I'll get a supply that will handle both.
  18. I totally agree with that!
  19. That is a good idea and you just gave me another one as well kinda. In spirit of the original where the RF cable is removable from the board with the jack, what I could do with the bare area of PCB where the RF box was is drill 3 holes there to mount the RCA jacks, and then plug them in right there and run those 3 cables out of the hole where the RF cable went through. I'm going to use cable like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/3FT-6FT-12FT-25FT-50FT-Premium-THICK-RG59-3-RCA-COMPOSITE-AV-SHIELDED-GOLD-CABLE-/230967546783?var=&hash=item35c6bd139f:m:mvmw20849_0wXJIqARN0tvQwith the thick video cable. I figure doing it like this would still look original and cables still easily replaceable just have to open up unit. Thank you!
  20. Was wanting to see what most people prefer for A/V modded units, the RCA jacks in the middle area(same place the controller ports would be on 6 switch unit) or near where the original RF cable came out. I've seen it done both ways on 4 switch unit just wondering if there is a preference.
  21. Thanks for the replies but I'm not going to use a Nuon. I'm going to eventually get the Android box and put it inside an Atari Flashback 2 case I've modded for carts(if all goes well and I can cram it with an A/V converter in the box), from within the Flashback 2 case I'm going to run the A/V into an A/V to HDMI converter and run the outputted HDMI to the Android box's HDMI in. I will try to mount the Android box in a way that I can get the HDMI output near the edge of case so I can dremel a slot to plug in an HDMI cord then run to the TV. Once this is completed I will be able to turn the unit on and see the Android home screen and all of my apps, and click on HDMI to switch to Flashback. It will make it kinda like the new consoles where you can have all the apps and all with it and also do games. Of course I could just keep it all separate and hook everything up outside externally but where is the fun in that.
  22. Having the tape on it would bother me more than whether or not it had been opened especially if it leaves adhesive that you have to clean off of it when you get the tape off of it. If so I think orange peel would work good for that.
  23. I've played and beat SMB probably over a hundred times. I still find it fun every time I play it. 1, 2, or 3 they are all fun to play again I think regardless of whether or not you have beat them. Some of the newer games I've played over as well after I've beat them. I've replayed Tomb Raider on the PS1 before because it seems there is always new stuff to find that I've missed first go round. I've done the same with the Tomb Raider reboot on the Xbox 360. If a game is fun it is worth replaying. Also if what you say were the case then there would be no such thing as movie sales, only rentals because what point is there to own something you've already seen and should never watch again(which I actually don't watch movies again very much myself and have a very small library of movies I'm just saying though).
  24. Thanks for all the feedback. I may be able to change some things to make the cart go in further. I've seen front loading flashbacks where the cart did go in further but they also didn't have the plastic guide like I made for the cart to go into. The problem is that there is a plastic support with screw hole in the middle of the console that would be in the way for my guide to go further in deeper, and I don't want to do away with the support in the middle. I might however be able to make a deeper guide with a notched out section for the support as long as the support doesn't protrude and interfere with the cartridge going in and out. It doesn't really bother me though. I have also seen mods with internal Harmony cart as well. Me personally I don't like that because SD is your only option, because you might run into a cartridge to put in of something that you can't get the file of to put on the Harmony Cart. I'd rather slide the Harmony cart in to use it.
