Maybe a bad cap somwhere on the TV
-
May be. Have you hooked anything else up to the TV that the 7800 was having issues with and seen if you had the same problem with other devices on the TV.

You may have a bad cap.

Atari 7800 power connector is not proprietary: found a few donors
SignGuy81 replied to CZroe's topic in Atari 7800
I got a reply back. He said he removed the 7 day part and updated the listing. -
I just thought of another use. They would probably make a nice piggy bank. You could gut the inside and whenever you want to put money in you just press the button and drop it in.

Market it like Adam Sandler in "The Hot Chick" "A lot of people don't realize this, but you can ..." Wasn't sure if it was appropriate to finish the quote on here.

I told him the plug was the right fit so I hope he didn't misunderstand me and list the adapter in whole as compatible with the 7800. So you may would still want to write too as well to provide more details in case I didn't word everything right. -

I just wrote the seller and mentioned they are a good fit for Atari 7800 and are hard to come by and told him I'd hate to see them recycled(well unless meaning as being used on an Atari 7800), and provided the URL for here so hopefully they don't get wasted. I told him maybe he should mention in the listing that the plug fits Atari 7800 -
You can get the replacement port here https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-pc-NOS-NEW-Atari-5200-Controller-joystick-INPUT-15-pin-chip-PART-ONLY-RARE/222786792780?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

I found some for an excellent price https://www.ebay.com/itm/Brinkmann-QBeam-Replacement-AC-Charger-for-800-2380-W-Max-Million-III-Recharg/112732974681?epid=12014153111&hash=item1a3f68ae59:g:A3gAAOSw1NFaTi8q -
The last one I did, the NES I have for sale now here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/274555-nes-for-sale-waccessories-games-70-plus-shipping/(shameless plug) I had to remove and replace shorted diodes. It does take a little heat and probably isn't best for a beginner to attempt. I just seen yesterday I was looking at the cap kits for the boards on console5 and they recommend desoldering on the RF board side, not the NES motherboard and it does make more sense and next one I do that will be the way I do it as well.
-
If you want I can send you a scrap NES board to play around with. It is missing the PPU and CPU. Best to learn on something you don't have to worry about messing up. EDIT: It has the POWER/RF board still attached so you could actually practice that on it first.

Did some work on a 5200 and controller for unoclay. Good communication, prompt payment, everything went smoothly. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with again.
-
A good start would be to check for VCC on all the chip pins where you are supposed to have it going by the schematic I posted. EDIT: For example pin 14, 52, and 24 of U29 should have +5V.
-
Could you post any pictures of the board, power supply you are using, etc.?
-
Do you have a schematic? If not here is one http://www.robotsandcomputers.com/computers/manuals/atarijag_sch.gif

You got a very good deal for for everything in the box. But yeah as far as the $25 screen even though they may have even paid less for the defective lynx they are a business. Just like a junkyard is going to make much more out of a vehicle than they have in it selling the parts.

Lowered price again. That is the GameCube, 6 games, and 2 controllers for $55, plus shipping. -
Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Any worthwhile SNES repair services out there?

On the rainbow the best thing you can do, and I recommend doing this prior to trying to turn it on if you think pee got down inside it, is to take it completely apart and wash it out in a tub with some dawn and a paintbrush, circuit board and all. Then rinse really well and blow it out with compressed air then set the board outside and let it finish drying(do everything on a nice sunny day).
