I mean there are PDF's of pretty much every videogame manual ever available online; what makes this one so special that it shouldn't be?

I agree.  I've read the backstory and just don't get why anything with those games are taboo.

For games that are still being sold, I understand it.  They are wrong to share.

There seem to be plenty of ROM files floating around the usual places. If any of those actually work with the JagGD or a Skunkboard there is not a lot of effort required to play it. Of course that would not be legit but hard to prevent.

BSG works fine with the JagGD.  BS does not

  3. Just ordered again, this time through eBay.  items arrived quickly with no problem.

    EDIT

My eBay order was through B&C (and not Brad).  My error.

Still recommend buying from Brad.  Have ordered multiple times and never had a problem.

  4. Workflow I've used to convert ccd to cdi:

    1) Not necessarily needed, but I don't like installing / uninstalling programs on main pc: Create Windows 7 32 bit Virtual Machine

    2) Use Daemon Tools Lite to create virtual disk and mount ccd image

    3) Use Discjuggler 6 to convert virtual cd to cdi file

Now you can take the cdi file and run it through cd2jcd.  On the 3 ccd games I had they all ended up working fine on the Game Drive

Another advantage of having a Win 7 32 bit vm, is the old Atari program romsplit is 32 bit only.  If you rip any of your cartridges, romsplit very quickly creates a working rom file.   You can use dosbox on a 64 bit machine, but romsplit runs really really slow in it.

    **********

    EDIT

On game Soulstar boots fine passing verification (Atari screen with rotating cube).  It goes to the Atari presents screen and freezes there.

Not sure , but it could be microsd card related.  I have 2 different Class 10 cards (U1) and there are games that run on one but not the other.  I have a Class 10 (V30) card coming in soon and will see if that faster card makes a difference.

Thank you for this detailed post. Unfortunately neither of these tools is producing a usable image of Dragon's Lair. I tried CCD data and game options as well as IMGBURN. Saint's tool rejects them all. Which version of CloneCD is working for you?

I have an old copy of DiscJuggler 6.  I burned my original disks (including Dragon's Lair) it produced cdi files which SainT tool converted to jcd which run fine on the Game Drive.

I'm a bit confused by this.  I can't seem to get any CCDs to work.  bin/cue and cdi work fine, but the CCDs just exit without doing anything - I've tried this on three different images with the same results.  I've tried placing the image and the executable in the same directory and specifying the full path to the CCD instead of just the relative path and vice-versa.  I was able to find bin/cues for most of the ones I had in CCD but not everything.

Same here.  CCD just exit without error and no file being created.

  7. Ok. But it can be copied onto an actual two chip cart and runs fine with no problems.  This game is not actively being sold.  Just let me if you ever want to look at it and I'll forward files to you.

    ** Edit

i have the game so I’m not really concerned whether it will run of the GD. Just was letting you know about what I’m seeing on the GD.

I have a game which works fine on cartridge but fails to run in Jag GD.  It seems to load normally with the Atari Jaguar and rotating cube.  But instead of starting it goes to the red verification failure screen (though it seemingly passed verification).  Yet the physical cart works fine.

It's not a homebrew, conversion nor anything sold by anyone today. I have the cart. But I don't think I should post about it here.  I'd like to DM but cannot send you a message.  Please message me if you want to discuss.

    Thank you.

  9. Could a mod please let me know if it's ok to attach what is requested.

The author of the Doom 2 hacks posted a list of levels years ago.  I can't find the link where I copied this from, but here is their post:

I have tried to do this in command prompt and have downloaded this .exe program and it's unzipped and on my desktop. When i go into Command Prompt and copy the items in and hit enter i get the following error message:

'png2mrq' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.

That error message says you are not in the same directory as the png2mrq program.

After opening command prompt did you change to the desktop directory? Command should be "cd desktop"  Once you are in the desktop directory, program will execute and give you messages in the command window.

    Looks like a fun game.

Does anyone know where to find the ROM for this prototype, I want to try it out?

It must be available somewhere, if some person was able to burn it on EPROM.

There is no game, just a very basic demo.  It's also not fun walking your character back and forth with no interaction with anything.

The rom is out there.  Also out there is Tiny Tunes Plucky Duck which I read was an earlier version and this was the redesigned version.

  12. I've been trying to create .mrq files but without much success.  I'm following the instructions in the readme.  Per the readme:

The box art must be supplied as a 88 x 124 pixel 24bit colour PNG file and the screen shot as an 88 x 56 pixel 24bit colour PNG file.

I'm using these online sites to resize:

    https://jpg2png.com

    https://convertio.co/jfif-jpg/

    https://onlinepngtools.com/resize-png

Images resized, mrq created, but images do not appear in the menu.  I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what it is.

    @UHATEIT

Readme explains it all.  Use notepad to get your syntax right and then paste it into the command line.  Example shows you must use "quotes" for the names / variables you select.

    Jaguar SD Marquee Tool
This tool allows you to create MRQ files for the Jaguar SD. An MRQ contains box art, a screen shot and details about the publisher, developer and year of release of a game.

    Command Line Usage
    Usage: png2mrq.exe [switches]

    Switches --
-box : Box art PNG, 88x124, 24bit colour
-screen : Screen shot PNG, 88x56, 24bit colour
-title : Game title, max 48 characters
-dev : Developer, max 24 characters
-pub : Publisher, max 24 characters
-year : Year, max 4 characters
-out : Optional output marquee filename
-load : Optional custom load, loadaddr, execaddr hex
      -eeprom : Optional EEPROM size, 0:128, 1:256/512, 2:1024/2048 bytes
-pngdir : Optional directory for PNG files
-mrqdir : Optional directory for output MRQ files
To create an MRQ, specify the game details as switches to the png2mrq program along with accompanying box art and screenshot PNG files.

The box art must be supplied as a 88 x 124 pixel 24bit colour PNG file and the screen shot as an 88 x 56 pixel 24bit colour PNG file.

To use an MRQ, place it in the same directory as the game ROM with the same filename, but with the .MRQ file extension.

Only specify the optional parameters such size of the EEPROM or absolute load address if you know what they are. These values will only be used for homebrew software and otherwise should not be set.

    Example
png2mrq -box box.png -screen screen.png -title "Super Ace Game" -dev "Best Dev Co" -pub "PubSoft" -year 1999
            -out "Best Game Ever.mrq"

Anybody that bought recently from Brad, how much it takes approx to ship? Does it ship with tracking?

    Thanks,

I bought a POKEY chip about a month ago.  Emails inquiry was answered the next day.  We traded several emails without problems.  Payment made and item received few days later.

I've ordered several times from Brad and every time was smooth with no problems.  I also follow the instructions he clearly lays out as to what to put in the email subject line and use his preferred method of payment.

    Recommend ordering stuff from Brad.

  14. I have a gdemu's  Sega Saturn Rhea ODE.  The device works great but organizing game lists is not that easy.    I've played with Rmenu rather extensively and you can really do some really interesting game organizing.

I do not like alphabetical lists of games. I like to organize by genre. such as:

    action

    adventure
    fighters
    . 2d
    . 3d
    [etc]

With everdrives and the dreamcast usb-gdrom it is easy to do as it allows folders and nested folders.

I found with Rmenu you can organize similarly without using folders. Rmenu displays lists that are 24 lines long. You can thus create 24 line "pages" to organize games. Rmenu "L" and "R" button presses advance the display to the next 24 line "page." You can thus create lists of games with genres lists on specific "pages"

In creating the file structure, I created folders that contained games. Where I wanted "blank" spots I just put a text file in the folder.

In editing the Rmenu folder, I found you could not have a blank ("") name for a game. If you did, it would not properly create the list and selecting games would not work. However, you could put a dot (".") as a game name and it would create the list fine and game selection worked ok.

By doing this you can create a very readable list of games. You just have to organize in 24 line "pages."

With the 128GB card, I ended up with 407 folders containing about 200 games. I've attached the rmenu.ini file so you can see how I used genre names, dots and cues to go to next page to organize it by24 line "pages." I've also attached my working "index to sd card" which is much more readable. Just to give a feel for how the organization can work, below are a couple of 24 lines "pages" of the Rmenu display I use.

    01 = RMENU

is it possible to use 2 4mb eproms M27C322 i have a bunch of these on hand? I ordered the correct ones but they will not arrive for a while still.

Yes, it works.  You can use chips bigger than the files you are burning.  I've burned 2mb games onto two 2mb chips.  The burner I use starts the burn at address 0 and goes up from there.

You just do not want to do the opposite.  Burning 4mb games onto two 1mb chips results in a not working game.

    ***  EDIT

Sorry, I did not comprehend what you were asking.  I'm not sure if those 4mb chips are pin compatible with the 1mb and 2mb chips.  Zerosquare does know and helped you.  Looks like you burned successfully by filling the entire chip.

I'm already regretting it... but it's all going into my 529 Education account. All my daughter talks about is going to MIT... she's 12, so I have some time, but I only have like $23k in her college education account. I know I need like $120k total... haha, so I'm $100k off.

But I told her all the money I make, I'm putting it into her 529.

Having paid for two kids through college, I can tell you to ignore the cost you see on the college web sites.  Each college acceptance letter contained a financial grant award which ends up lowering the listed cost.  For example, my son was accepted into Northwestern.  Yearly cost was 65K.  Acceptance letter gave 23K in grants making net cost 42K.  We found for both kids, the "net" amount that it would cost was about the same regardless of the listed costs.  The most important thing is to make sure you have completed the FASFA.  While it's a financial aid form, schools won't give grants without a completed FASFA.   Don't be shocked by the schools listed cost.
