  1. I played with the board for a couple of hours. To get the board ready to test: Cut 34B and 35B so they were not tied to vcc Bridged 34B and 35B with wire Added two 0.1uf capactitors to C1 and C4 (not really needed) Socketed all three chips (hi, low, eeprom) Checked solder joints for sockets with multimeter Installed hi / low eproms of a rebooteroids beta Installed original eeprom Could not get a game to boot. One time only, I had the jag cube boot screen come up ok followed by a black screen. Any other time it booted, it went straight to red screen. I did notice it was very sensitive to position. Tilting the board forward or backwards a little would change whether it would even boot. Sometimes when the jaguar would not power on (no red light), pulling the cart out a little would allow it to power on (red light). Cleaned the cart edge connectors with a fiberglass pencil to make sure no corrosion. No change in boot up behavior. When I take the hi / low eproms and install them on a known good original board, the game boots up no problem every time. Pushing the board backwards or forward has no effect. The game boots and keeps running fine. My guess is that it is a combination of thinner traces and lack of a beveled edge on the board causing intermittent contact(s) with the cart port. Photos of what I did are attached. ****EDIT @Wyluli Wolf - let me know if you want the board mailed back to you. I'll just take the eproms out.
  2. Power not turning on could be this chip sold for 50 cents by console5: https://console5.com/store/cd4013-flip-flop-ic-atari-5200-power-stuck-on-or-off.html
  3. Frog faces the direction of his last move. Excellent!
  4. Got the board yesterday. Will check it out this weekend.
  5. The frog faces up when you move right. That does not look correct
  6. Correct that's the Atarimax SD cart for sale. AtariAge hosts the BBSB ROM. You can download it here: http://atariage.com/software_list.php?SystemID=5200 Put the ROM on the SD cart and your playing BBSB on the original hardware.
  7. Really? It says "Now in Stock" on the web site: www.atarimax.com The page for the SD cart has a button that says "Add to cart" and states price is $129.95 + $6 shipping: https://www.atarimax.com/5200sd/documentation/index.html
  8. Third listing on simple Google search for "Atari 5200 composite mod" http://electronicsentimentalities.com/Assembled%20Mods.html Not very hard to find.
  9. I've burned a good number of Jag carts for myself (over 110). If you want, I could take one of your boards, socket them, and test with different burned eproms. I'll also check out the traces compared to an original board. I'll send the board back to you when done (with sockets on or off). PM me if you want to do that.
  10. Just get the Atarimax SD cart and you can play BBSB on original hardware
  11. Same here. Reviews had me excited to get the Jaguar. After the first hour with Cybermorph I was thinking of returning the system back to the store. Very unimpressive for the build up I had been reading. BTW, I threw away all my Gamefans years ago. Are there any scans available?
  12. Hey Skip, I actually missed your post. If I had seen it, I would not have posted the same link. I was reading forum thread about the magazine that has postings for the last 13 years at The Next Level (http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/threads/33808-The-GameFan-history-thread) when I stumbled on that link.
  13. Here's an interesting read about the history of Die Hard Gamefan.
  14. I have both the 128-1 and SD flashcarts. Both work just fine with an unmodified 4 port console.
  15. I have the bottom mounted controller. Its actually very easy to use. In holding the controller, 3 fingers rest on the buttons. Very easy to press them. The AA store bottom mount controller looks like the Nicolas Persijn ones sold on ebay. ( including same Sharpie + and O marks next to the rotary / d-pad switc)h Very good controller. Tempest is very enjoyable with it.
  16. Don't worry about support. I'm the last person who posted for help. While thee is no response in the forum, Steve emailed me telling me he would exchange the cart for free under his lifetime warranty.
  17. Installed a Rev B in my 4 port NTSC 5200 then flashed to v 1.3. Note had to remove both jumpers to get it working. With jumper 1 on there was a scrambled still picture. Remove it and graphics were good but everything seemed to be green in cold. Remove jumper 2 and full color picture. Simple to install and what a beautiful picture. I'm going to do power mod next to get rid of the switch box. Thinking of removing the rf cable and putting scarf cable in its place. I'm thinking of splicing sound from the 5200 motherboard into the scart cable. What are people doing to get sound out of the 5200?
  18. Nah. At this point he's just trolling.
  19. Its whatever price you are willing to pay. Everyone has different definitions of "too much."
  20. Yes OSSC is linedoubler (or 3x, 4x or 5x) and has no framebuffer. XRGB has framebuffer and can process signal. That's why XRGB mini will have a little more lag than OSSC. Both however are excellent products. Once you get either one you'll be rgb modding all your old consoles.
  21. Attached is 5x profile I created for the Jag. Firebrandx has created an excellent set of profiles for all different consoles: http://www.firebrandx.com/framemeisterprofiles.html JAGUAR5X.BIN
  22. Jag >>> rgb scart cable >>> OSCC or XRGB_mini >>> HDMI cable from OSSC or XRGB mini >>> flat screen tv
  23. Have never ran Jag through VGA. However, Jag works great through OSSC or XRGB mini using rgb. Would recommend getting cable from this US eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/usr/retro_console_accessories. They go in and out of stock regurarly. You can message them to ask if they will make one. Can use their cables with either device. Both devices have different advantages. To me XRGB mini can be tweaked for slightly better picture. OSSC has less lag which to me feels like slightly more responsive controllers. PM or post if you have questions about setting up either or rgb modding any consoles. Jag thankfully does rgb without need of mod.
