I've installed a Sophia into my 5200. Its an easy install. Let me know if you have any questions I had picked up the VBXE before the Sophia. However never installed VBXE as it had to be installed in XE in order to flash 5200 firmware.

Elon Musk has a deal with Atari to turn Teslas into game consoles

5200 is my favorite system. Even though I have all but one of the original released carts, I love the AtartiMax. Put many of the prototypes and XL conversion on it. Bought thge original flash one. Then bought the SD cart when it came out. Both are much easier to use than the Sean Kelly multi cart (which is also excellent). It's obvious that I'd recommend getting it.

+1 I have both OSSC and Frameister XRGB mini and picture is really nice through either one.

The TG investigation was open 7 months before a decision was made. He could have presented whatever he wanted during that time. To be presented in the future means to me he has nothing to present. I'm still waiting for his simple statement that the games were played on a DK arcade machine. He has never answered that question. His latest statement is that scores were obtained in accordance with then existing TG rules. Very lawyer like answer. He's avoiding making any statement about whether he played on a DK arcade machine.

Had an 85 Fiero GT which I drove for about 18 years. Miss that car and wish I never got rid it.

I also have the Sophia mod on my 5200. As ApolloBoy said, the picture is great. Way better than the s-vid mod I took out. I'm running it through a xrgb-mini onto a 55" led and could not be happier. There is also the VBXE 2.1. Its an Atari XE rgb mod that can be reflashed to work on the 5200. Unfortunately you must install into an Atari XE to reflash.

Will Sega Genesis controller extension cables work with the Jaguar?
rayik replied to flux's topic in Atari Jaguar
Many years ago I nodded a Genesis joystick to work on a Jaguar as an easier way to play Defender 2000. A real hack job that I still have. If I remember correctly, I modded the Genesis controller by cutting PCB traces and internally rewiring the cord wires directly to the button / joystick pcb. Then took a genesis extension cable, cut one end off and connected the wires directly to the Jaguar controller button / joystick pcb traces. Genesis cable only had enough wires for directional pad and 2 buttons. To use the 3rd button I installed 1/8 jacks in each controller with wires goes to PCB for the button. Then connected with mono 1/8 inch headphone wire. Genesis controller plugged into extension cable which was wired internally in Jaguar controller. Jag controller plugged into Jag console. Genesis joypad and all 3 buttons worked in unison with Jaguar controller keypad and start / pause buttons. So yes, you can use a Genesis controller on the Jaguar. -
PC-Engine - any good retrospective views anywhere...

That's true about the base system. But the extras added up fast. I got the TurboGrafx-CD when it was released in the US ($400). Before getting the CD addon I bought the Turbo Booster Plus ($40) to get better than RF video. (Not needed with CD unit). I also got the Turbo Stick (? $) and as you mentioned the Turbo Tap ($ ?). It was an expensive system back then. But it has so many good games. Krikzz has a Turbo Everdrive to enjoy the card games. Neosdstore has an ODE to allow you to enjoy the CD games. Great retro system. -
Steve is very good about guaranteeing his carts. I had a 5 year old cart which didn't work right. I emailed Steve and he offered to exchange it. I had no expectation he would offer that since the cart was so old. I highly recommend buying his products.

I believe trackball is a standard pool table cue ball.

Create and burn eproms for standard Jaguar 2 chip cartridges
rayik replied to rayik's topic in Atari Jaguar
I posted so everyone could make their own carts. While I'm sure there are people using this to make and sell, with this knowledge you don't need to be buying from them on ebay. Try making some yourself. -
Elansar, Philia, Alice mom's rescue, Yopaz Jaguar CD available for download
rayik replied to Orion_'s topic in Atari Jaguar
Thank you Orion. Bought Alice's Moms and Topaz. (Already bought others when you previously put therm for sale) I've given up "collecting" and just want to play the game. Thank you for making it possible with your efforts Wish more people would do this. Too many homebrew releases seem too be about media, label, box and manual. The game is just an addition to that. -
did the jaguar have the ability to be a commercial success?
rayik replied to LutzfromOz's topic in Atari Jaguar
No chance at being successful. Bought one the day they became available. I think there were 1 or 2 titles available. Almost returned it a couple of days later. BITD impression was graphics were slightly better than Sega Genesis. Games for the most part were not. Only AVP, T2K and Doom made it worth owning. Another BITD impression was that Atari was broke. In the Philadelphia metro area, video game stores were getting literally 10 or less copies of new releases, including the "A" games. If you were not on the very short pre-order list, forget getting AVP or T2K for months anytime soon after release. Games like Checkered Flag just kills any momentum -

Hey Bill - if you want to donate or loan anything to a museum - there is the National Videogame Museum in Frisco Texas. (http://www.nvmusa.org) It was founded by Sean Kelly, Joe Santulli and John Hardie. I never heard of this museum until moving last year from south Jersey to this area of Texas. Have not yet been there, but its on the list of things to do.

So true. Neat protection on it.

Coin Slot + Coat Hanger = free credits
rayik replied to Cobra Kai's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I remember playing the arcade game Targ back in college. If you beat the high score you got a free credit. To get the most free play, once we beat the high score we would deliberately die and not get anymore points. We keep doing that over and over getting free games until it was too difficult to beat the high score. Power switch was on the back top of the machine. We'd flip the game off then on. That would reset high score back to default, which was a very low #. The operator caught on to us and put a bracket over the switch so we could not turn it off. We then just followed the power cord and would unplug it from the wall. Game was taken out rather soon after we started unplugging it. -
Back in the day, AvP was phenomenal. I still remember playing in a dark room and hearing the predator's rattle for first time. Thank you for posting all the text.
