I just finished making a video of the mod I did to install the VDD inside the Adam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq67c05Uorg Milli

Would like to pick the brains of the gifted members in this board. With the VDD does it care what size image I put in? What if, for instance, I put a 65MB image on the SD card, properly interleaved with a proper directory, would it allow me to access blocks past 160kb if I went directly through EOS and loaded each block since EOS can access up to 65535 blocks? Or does the firmware on the VDD not allow it? I did a test and I can boot a 1.4mb TDOS disk image so maybe the VDD doesn't care. Milli

I could really use some help. I need to enable interrupts on the adam so I can do some background things in the game I am working on in ML. I have tried every possible way, turned on interrupts on the VDP, set the 38h vector with a JP SMARTWRITER (just to test), did same to 66h, tried the im 0, im 1 and im 2 triggers. DI and EI interrupts. I never get any response. Can someone, anyone, show me some working ML source code that enables and uses interrupts on the Adam (or Colecovision since in the end it is the same thing)? All the documentation I have read has not helped, some working code would be great to see what I am doing wrong. I am working in the ADAMem emulator but that should have no effect on it since other Adam and CV programs use interrupts and work fine (simple example, FLASH in smart basic uses the interrupts to toggle the text). Please - any help would be appreciated - as long as it isn't have you searched in the docs... cause they are VERY sparse and don't tell me anything. Milli

Hi Have a quick question, which interrupts are used on the Adam (ie Colecovision)? Mode 0, 1 or 2? Any other information would be great! Milli

Ah - I was hoping to see how the emulator communicated with the adapter that plugs into the usb to use an adam keyboard, translated the data from the keyboard, requested etc, unless that is all done on the adapter (ie the adam keyboard is just a pc keyboard after being plugged into the adapter) then the source code would not be helpful. Milli

Is the source code available for this - especially interested in the interface to the keyboard, I would like to see how it talks to the Adam keyboard, the commands, parameters etc. Milli

Instead of wondering if it is possible, ask why would you want to? The maximum resolution you can ever get on an Adam is 256 x 192 with 16 colors. Using HDMI instead of composite will never improve on it. Oh it may look a little better but it is still 256 x 192 displayed on a 1920 x 1200 (or higher) resolution screen. If you want HDMI - get an up-scaller. I got one - it didn't work as it should - no color just black and white.

I have been doing a lot of ML coding on the Adam at the EOS level and working with the VDP and I have had issues using AdamEm where i get different results on the same code. The code I am using was consistently showing my font as red on black (even though I set it as white on black) and when I set individual font groups to blue on white it would work and then yesterday it started showing it as green on black - no change to the color code at all. Changing the internal fonts if I change more than 2 characters at a time using WRITE VRAM I get garbage, doesn't matter what 2 characters. Sometimes when I do a call the system will just crash, and crash spectacularly by showing me the boot screen for the HD IDE program and then it flickers and slowly erases the screen - even though I am not using that program, just am using one single tape image that I created from scratch that contains only my custom z80 code. This happens on both the Windows version and on the Dos version. It is almost as if AdamEm is not emulating the VDP correctly. I am waiting on a VDD so I can test it on real hardware but till then - does AdamEM have issues with custom ML code? I don't see how it should but... Milli

I am not totally up on the hardware (yet) but for this to even work you would have to have a system that could access the video ram via the expansion bus which even the onboard z80 can not do. You are better off trying to upscale the composite out Milli
