$110 to import 2.5kg of gaming stuff from France. I knew there was a reason I haven't done that in a couple years. Went through a mail forwarder. Thought it would be less than 2kg ($60 postage) ended up being 2.5kg.

Generally I think the French post is one of the more expensive ones in Europe. Not sure if Spain is any better, but if the seller lives close to a country border sometimes it can be beneficial to drive to another country and ship stuff from there. In particular the border between Belgium and the Netherlands would be an example of a such zone.

After 25 years, given the name Ace of Base, the growl and the beginning, the vocal tones, Raggae rhythm, etc., I was quite shocked to find that "The Sign" is sung by an ABBA like group with a former Neo-Nazi band member.

My best friend let me know about this about 3 or 4 years ago. I was surprised as well. I decided to do my own research on this recently when I was talking about it with another friend, just to make sure I had my facts correct and I wasn't spreading misinformation, which is so easy to do online now-a-days because it is everywhere and people lack critical thinking skills, but anyhow, I read up, and yes, the male lead in his younger days was a Neo-Nazi member, but got out of it and reformed himself before starting Ace of Base.

Amazon inflitrating eBay: I quit ordering from Amazon because of too many screw ups and they can't deliver inside my building due to covid, but some white-out I just ordered I had to go pick up and it came in an Amazon envelope with Amazon receipt delivered by "Bluecare Express".

Anybody have an all-black joystick mode only Atari Trak-ball with S/N above 000999? Not buying, just studying. It will say "Atari 2600 Proline Trak-Ball" on the top. Just studying them.

Do you remember the eight inch thick 48 inch LCD TVs from c. 2000? I saw one by a dumpster this week with a remote and piece of paper taped to it saying Works! Free! Too big and heavy even though it's kind of a bit of history in the making.
I remember the LCDs and projectors battling it out back then.

Speaking of digital projectors, I remember back in 2000 when I was looking around for home theater option me and my girlfriend ended up looking at one at a church with an 8 year old digital projector that was so big it had its own room in the back. The lens cup on its front was like 8 inches across or so and the projector itself was easily 200cm to a side and 80cm high. That probably cost a mint when it was new as well.

Depending on how thick you mean by "thick"....but many of the LCD tv's in those days were LCD "projection" , especially the thick ones. It would have a tiny LCD screen in back...that was projected forward to the display surface. Essentially killing any clarity LCD gave you over CRT. It was ridiculous time when the TV manufacturers wanted to make tv's big enough to compete with the larger plasma tv's, wanted to claim "LCD", and wanted it to be priced competitively.

Fart. You can't buy hardly any North American electronics anymore. Just Chinese stuff that falls apart after 5 minutes.

From a 70's TV show, this was apparently a pickup line for secretaries then: "Is that electric or are you just fast." (Cliffhangers! Episode 3)

How many bad work days to break your brain?
-
Bad work days suck! Going to the E.R. sucks! (Obviously heart failure and 73 hour workweeks suck too)...I hope work improves Swami,...And I hope everything's all right CPUWIZ...Health issues and work issues are truly the worst...But with work issues IMO, you always get the idea that it doesn't have to be bad. What is it with bosses and coworkers?
-
A proper bad day can set me to tears within a few hours- but I work retail, so a proper bad day is lines around the corner, with an overflowing dressing room I can't get away to clean, no backup, AND customers screaming at me about what a terrible job I'm doing becuase the store's a mess and the lines are long.
Today is a one day sale, and as best as I can tell, I'm the only person on the entire floor for the first 2-3 hours (we need a minimum of 4 for decent coverage). Unless they snuck someone in off-schedule, today might be a bad day.

I bought this highly rated "Valoin" brand external DVD player for my new "DVD/BluRay-less" Dell Laptop and I don't know if it is the DVD player or new Dell BIOS, but I have to restart the laptop twice and wait for Dell to indicate it had updated itself twice for the DVD player to work.

Yeah it doesn't appear to get too good of reviews. I never heard of it. I usually stick to Asus, LG, Lenovo. etc. for computer parts.
Does it always have to be restarted twice for it to work? I'd return it. I never had such a problem with an external optical drive. I recently needed to order a new wi-fi adapter for one my my laptops. There were a gazillion off brand ones on ebay for $5, but I paid $10 for a D-Link branded one. Plugged it in, and Windows 10 instantly saw it and it started working right away.

@jd_1138 As long as it's plugged in it continues to work. If you unplug the DVD player and plug it in again later, maybe after a computer restart(?) the first time the laptop doesnt see it, after restart it sees it, but can't read it, so you manually start the DVD and it says to insert disk even when one's in it, after another laptop restart it works. After both restarts Dell says it has been updated.
