Thank you and Happy Holidays, Luc! -
I’d deal with it. A, B, C, mini, micro, lightning.

I hate how there’s at least two types of cables that look the same and some dozen different connectors. It’s ridiculous.
-
You also have to have the cart plugged in by USB when you open the program. If you insert the usb while the program is open, it won't recognize it. Also, try uninstalling the program and install it in the root of the C:\ drive rather than the x86 program files folder. The program file folders have peculiar security blocks.
-
I had to use a different usb cable as the first one did not allow me to recognize the cart

Sorry, by "best" I meant the most compatible of my three 7800s. It's just a random X series 7800 I bought off of eBay.

I just tried out my least previous Concerto compatible 7800 A1 series 7800. It either does not load the Arkanoid demo in Trbor's Pro Pack or crashes after choosing the joypad. I ran the utility cart, which once failed to load and once crashed after the internal RAM check, although the RAM check all passed. Also, external RAM passed. Cart integrity test showed three out of four blocks with dots rather than the block at the verey end of the F0 line, although I got the same with my best 7800. Everything else seems typical of my best 7800. Also, with the Diagnostic cart, I got a frowny face with X4 under it???

A bluetooth controller adapter is not a ridiculous idea for homebrewer to make, once the Amico controllers come out. I've seen it done for the Atari 2600, but only for the 2600 compatible controllers.

I don't think they should repurpose the xm cases other people paid for.

Do these hold together without the screw like the ones with the 4 snap in place tabs? Thanks.

I'm not sure where the cutoff is for 2600 complexity or if we will get Encore level compatibility, but wwith 0.95 Space Rocks and Draconian did not load, along with other complex 2600 games. For 7800, Milli and Molly loads and has some sort of sound effects but is all scrambled, Pac Man Collection 40th Anniv has no sound, but BBCQ still plays with POKEY sound.
-
Sorry for the dumb question, but the past few firmwares have had the hbios *.bin and then the *.cbi, but 0.95 only has the *.bin, so what do I do with the 0.93 cbi, do I keep it in the root or do i delete it?

I have one Atari branded POKEY chip from Best Electronics with original part number C012294 and two I got from somewhere with "Philippines" on them with part number C012294B. Any idea if they behave differently? I seem to recall having better luck with the Atari branded one, but it was a long time ago, so, I may have accidently used different 7800s with each. It could be something I check unless it is known they are functionally identical and a waste of time.

I received my Concerto on Saturday and tested it a little. With the Concerto from the first run, I grabbed up five 7800s of different major revisions and kept the three that worked best, to varying degrees. The one I started with here worked perfectly with the first run Concerto if it made it to the intro screen, so, no surprise, it works with all the 7800 games I tried like BBCQ (with POKEY!) and Popeye demo. It also worked with the simpler 2600 games and homebrews, but only less complex than those like Bosconian, which failed to load. I can try some more tomorrow and a different 7800. I did experience a menu freeze and a high pitch noise after power cycle once each. Used 0.93 and I used a SanDisk Class 4 32GB SDHC card with no issues.

No, I don't have this, but I have been loving checking out and often buying plug and play devices you have to search for in Japanese on the Japanese websites. Of course, it would be easier if I could get them in the USA, to save on postage and travel bans, like going on now. Hopefully, MAME can start doing VCR tape "Rom" console emulation soon. I've bought a few that have a 4-5 year old kid playing on the cover ... not sure I should admit that. LOL!

Sears Light Sixer - black screen, white flash on start and low hum
Swami replied to Swami's topic in Atari 2600
I just replaced all the capacitors in the Console5 refresh kit, all with the other Console5 parts, ICs and power switch mentioned above along with composite mod and it made no real difference. The white flash at power on is gone now. There is just a very slight flicker, a "pop" sound from the TV and a low hum on power on. Given what is replaced, any likely components or voltages I should check? -
See the bee you wish to change.

I think it's always been a launch title, so, I'll have to go with the block in Video Olympics who reappears in Adventure.

Hi all, I got a Sears light sixer in a lot with a 7800 and have never got any response out of it even after many parts replacements. The screen is black whether the atari is hooked up and on with cart or not hooked up at all. Finally did a composite mod, now I get a white flicker with an audio "pop" when I turn the power switch on the SLS off or on and a low hum when it is on. I also get lots of white hazy horizontal bands and white flickering when slowly pulling the video RCA cable out of its composite connection. BTW, this is the first console I've tried to fix with anything non-trivial or bring back. Also, the first composite mod I installed myself, but everything looks right. What else I did before: Cleaned cart port with 91% IPA and lint-free cloth. Replaced all four IC chips Replaced power switch, power jack, power regulator and the large cylindrical capacitor on the switchboard with the Console5 refresh kit. I have some capacitors, diodes and a resistor in the refresh kit, but I can't make heads or tails of where the capacitors go and, from the Console5 Wiki, it sounds like the diodes and resistors may not need replacing in a light sixer. Also, it sounds like a blown small capacitor wouldn't take out both video and audio. I've been trying with a Defender cart I used in the cart port cleaning process as well as Anyone have any educated guesses what might be keeping my Sears Light Sixer from getting picture or game sound? Thanks!

I joined FB in 2002 because girls. Not sure if it has any advantage for that now...

ATM has its own issues. 🤪

I’m just curious. I know firmware has been done for the MISTer to play problematic A2600 games like Pitfall 2 on its A2600 core last April. Is there a significant barrier to implementing this on the Phoenix’s core or is it a lack of time to devote to that core. I ask because I seem to remember the conversion from MISTer to Phoenix was supposed to be fairly straightforward.

Perspective nightmare hurts my brain. As far as fujinet, I’ll have to wait for a couple revisions due to Luddism when it comes to firmware manipulation.

Like a lot of my packages lately, my concerto seems to be stuck in a central mail distribution center purgatory until business mail gets under control again, possibly after Christmas at this point.
