Pardon? Oh, post further up.The industry shoved these into your house. Now they won't let you get rid of them.
Just break it up bit by bit and trash it that way. Somebody's gotta do it sooner or later.

What irks me most about the seller is not the huge flipped profit as much as bragging in his ad that *not even MAME has it* as one of his selling points.

NOS or barely used, 24-29" CRT, NOT flat or line multiplied like Trinitrons, one of the slightly rounded standard ones that works best with light gun games. Do you have one or know where I can get one? MN, WI, IA, ND, SD for pick-up?
-
I wish I knew where in this five state area of MN, WI, IA ND, SD, there was a warehouse with NOS CRTs 25"-27". And not the True-Flats, which mess with light gun and DDR games around the edges, I want the ones that are a little rounded. You can get plenty of used ones that work well on Craig's List for free, actually they are mostly 32"+ behemouths that no one wants to take to recycling center, but they are 20 years old and how much longer will they go? 25-35 year total lifetime, with about 30 average, I think.

New titles in Classic tape versions will be ready in 2 weeks. Also Classic disk versions may be available if there is any interest.
Note the problem I had with the two titles in my previous post on my NTSC XL. The other eight run.
Duddie is the best person to ask about cart availability, but I understand that cost would be prohibitive for a special cart run.
Forgot to add him. Duddie, are these all too big for standard 32K carts, would carts be possible? I don't have a 1050 or tape drive now either.

Hey guys,
My Dad gave me all his old 8-bit Atari computer stuff and its 4 tubs full of goodies. Multiple disk drives, printer, modem, two Atari 400s (one with upgraded RAM), an Atari 130XE, an Atari 800XL, a tape drive, printer, tons of disks, cartridges, tapes, two disk drives.... Just tons of stuff. Original manuals for almost everything, etc. What do you think is the best way to offload this with minimal hassle? I can take pictures of everything and post here--I'd love to sell to someone local-ish but I'm here in Colorado Springs so that leaves pretty much here or Denver. I'm sure shipping would be a nightmare.
Anyway, just looking for advice.
Did you sell all this stuff or do you still have it? Thanks.

Received my disk set on Friday. A+ effort all around -- and the first new (or, well, reissued), boxed, shrinkwrapped A8 disk releases I've bought since about 1992! *Wipes tears away*
The caramels were a nice touch -- thanks.

Can all of these disks be played on an NTSC XE w/64K?
My LCD Flat Screen has no problem with PAL, but others may want to know how they all work on North American/Japanese TV.
For you/others who may have bought tape set:
How about the tapes, has anybody played them all on an NTSC A8 machine and/or TV?
Also, are these all too big for standard 32K carts, would carts be possible? I don't have a DD or tape drive now either.

I noticed John is using my ROM pack on his AFP2, that is cool! First off that it will work on the 2nd edition of Portables and secondly, that something I compiled for the AA community is being enjoyed by others.

Is this one in AtariAge's official emulation menu ROM list or is this somewhere else. Thanks.

I grew up playing Atari 2600 on a 14" colour TV (it was actually my family's first-ever colour set, bought on the same day as the 2600), so playing emu on a 15" laptop screen feels just right.
My childhood screen was more about 24", but in middle age I kind of regressed back into childhood, starting with an xbox 360 on a 32" LCD, using the kinect to get in shape, then the Wii and the PS2 and PS1, moving to 29" CRTs for DDR and lightgun games, then, inspired by Xbox Live Atari and Activision anthologies, skipping back to Atari and ColecoVision on emulations, begun while searching for the complete, four-level arcade version of Donkey Kong, and then to the 2nd generation consoles, then to the 7800, XEGS and soon, the Nintendo Famicom. Somewhere, deep in my mother's garage attic, I think my childhood Atari 2600 and cartridge collection still sleeps deeply, only to be awakened by a monumental archeological exploration.
-
May be stating the obvious, but everything seems clearer on my 32" CRT than using emulation on a 15" laptop. I know a lot of people like the lynx and flashback portable, but I can imagine playing on a screen that small unless I was wearing magnifying glasses.

Certainly doesn't look like anything was done to it. Comparing it to mine it looks the same. How odd.
All I can think is maybe the springs in the cart port are stiff and you have to give it a moderate push straight downward to get it the rest of the way in. Or imagic cart board is a little thicker. Also, try putting in a cart that works first, like Asteroids to make sure there is no warm up problem, then try the imagic cart with the moderate but not crazy push down, like I described.
-
That is odd. I just tried playing Demon Attack and Dragonfire on my Sears Video Arcade II and they both worked fine. Here is a picture if anything was done to mine before I bought it.So, I got a Sears Video Arcade II a while ago, but recently I noticed something. The cartridge slot is not the right shape somehow. My Imagic games don't fit, at all. NONE. Does anyone else out there have this problem, or is there a way to make them fit?

What a steal! Did you win this???

It's cool that you could hack your own port, but there are supposed to be serious compatibility issues with carts. It's more of a novelty item, for me.
I like the idea of handling real carts because they're out there, they still function fine, and they are pretty cheap, for the most part. If it works, doesn't take up much room, and it doesn't cost me much, I'll reuse rather than throw away. I'm far from an environmentalist, but like re-purposing, & reusing. There's still so much NIB/CIb/Loose stuff from Atari that's now decades old. If it works, I'll use it!
No, didn't win it. Compatibility issues with carts as hizzy said and limited to AV. Think I'd rather wait for something better. With actual 2600's and Stella this would probably just take up room. Seems like more of a collector's type item. It did go for less than I thought, though. Figured someone would bid $50 at least, just for the novelty. Something like the Retron 77 that had Stella 5 or later, HDMI, but also AV for light gun games, would be perfect.
Edit: There also appears to be no B&W/Color switch, which is used for a lot of homebrews.

Apparently the guy tried to sell it to MAME admin for something like $6000 just so they could get the ROM, and they basically told him (after he bought it for $200 on Craigslist) to go &@#$ himself.
-
-
Did you find one? if so, did you salvage from another 7800 or find a decent source? thanks!
It was from a partially crushed shell with the strip still decent.
-
Don't these brotherhoods have something to do with looking for prototype carts and distributing the ROM?

I always liked this one that after a few looks, you saw there was a huge space city in the UFOs.
And the Defender cover looked like a 70's VHS sci-fi movie cover. And that guy with the beam on his noggin.

Just picked up this game on AA. I enjoy it very much. Easy and fun. My only complaint is to double fire you have to hold down both fire buttons non-stop....whew...tough. Looking forward to playing this with Edladdin's controllers when they come out.
You could try the super action controller.

Interersting! I would have thought there was some kind of legal problem with an SD card slot. I know the portable has one but didn't the original FlashBack 2 have some legal reason they couldn't have an actual cart slot, hence the mod option if people wanted to make one themselves?
BTW if an SD card comes on the FlashBack Gold I am totally getting one ... two .... three .... half a dozen.
Cost, apparently, according to NSG:

My main worry about the Retron 77 is that I don't think we'll ever see it. There's the issue with Stella, and it not using a current version, some legal issues. Silence from the manufacturer. I don't think it's happening. If Atgames was putting this out, I'm not 100 % sure I'd love the device, but at least I think it would get past the prototype stage. This isn't ever coming out, like the Ataribox. My best hope is that Atgames makes a Flashback with a cartridge port. one day.

I love my Ultimate Cart. I use a Toshiba FlashAir WiFi card with a custom script on it that makes it part of my network. All I do is go to its address with a web browser, and I can upload or download files from / to the Windows laptop.
Edit: Spelling
Is this the FlashAir III, FlashAir SDHC or an older one. Which ones work with the Ultimate Cart?

2600-daptor is patented? How? Wasn't the Stella-daptor prior art?
Patents can be bought and sold and I think improvements or changes to firmware can be patented or copyrighted, as well. In this case, I guess they were not, as Tom stated.
I guess this indicates stelladaptor was creative commons after 2009, from Grand Ideas Studio website:
AtariAge was the exclusive manufacturer of the Stelladaptor. The product has been discontinued as of 2009 and is now available under a Creative Commons Attribution-3.0 United States license.

CRT Sets
in Classic Console Discussion

So after 30 years, when the screen is dark when you first turn it on for a minute, then stays dark a minute or two longer every week until *blap* no more picture, is that the picture tube or the caps? The two TVs I've seen go, both my parents', died that way.
