Thanks for the info. Not having a lot of luck with the trackball hack in Stella. This is something new to me, so may just take a lot of figeting or the hack may only work on the 2600 console, although it sounds like it was developed in emulation before hardware testing. Unfortunately, there are no original Atari 2600 games made for trackball mode to use as a "control" test.

AtGames Fall 2017 Flashback and Portable Lineup
Swami replied to Albert's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Not a big fan of the text only manuals, the "wall of text," which I believe is what makes up "The Tome", although I'm sure they usually get the job done in an efficient manner. I always download the original manual scan if I have a choice and have about 150 of the original manuals from the games that are not reproductions. When homebrewers make manuals for their games, they inevitably add the superfluous material about plugging in the console, having the console off before putting the cartridge in the console, etc. Its all a big part of the nostalgia. You can't really have the manual there while you play if it is in electronic format and you can't page through them like you could in the 80's, so their not really my favorite either. Although, with a low price point being a necessity of the Flashbacks' continued survival, it may be unlikely that most people who will buy a Flashback would share these sentimental attachments to the printed art of the manuals Even such a book would be second to the original manuals, but it would be a nice complement to them in a convenient format. I believe a likely price for such an item would be $50-$100, unless there is a lot of royalties to be paid for the manual content that is separate from licensing the games themselves, which might bring it closer to $80-$130. I don't know, but I suspect at least half of the cost of the Flashbacks goes into the licenses - $25-$35. -
Qbert looks different. It is not the standard parker brothers shell tapered at the top, like the Frogger one. The P at the end of the model # is for pal.

Will the NES console play Famicom titles, same powerpad
Swami replied to Swami's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes, too small for humans. I remember a post where someone dropped the microSD card into their Harmony Cart and couldn't get it back out again. -
Any Stella experts here who can tell me how to use a computer trackball with Colony 7 to play it Missile Command style? I've tried about a dozen different settings, but always get the same limited movement of the cursor to only about a fifth of the width and height of the screen. Alternatively, I've used the Atari trackball in joystick mode with the 2600daptor, but you have to spin the ball like a madman and it still take several seconds to cross the screen. Is there a way to speed up the trackball motion?

It would be nice if the websites and reviews had specified microSD rather than just saying "SD", or am I that far behind the times. The other multicarts I own, all Harmony and Atarimax, have the regular SD slots. Oh, well, no biggy, currently now have a pair of unneeded regular SD cards and can pick up a microSD at Target tomorrow. -
Anybody have the rom for the ascii style CV homebrew "Cave", from FredtheFred in this thread: http://atariage.com/...brew/?p=3303716 The website he links to no longer exists. Can't find a rom on the internet after about an hour search. Kind of weird, his last twitter tweet from 2 years ago says "website is down but will be back up soon." If not, I've have to try to contact FredtheFred, Last Active Nov 11 2015. Thanks

AtGames Fall 2017 Flashback and Portable Lineup

I wonder how popular a book with reprints of all the original instruction manuals for the 130+ games would be? I know you can download them all for free, but I would probably cough up for one as it would be cool to page through and use as a reference and newbies would probably find it useful. Granted, the book would be about 600 pages or so, if they put two manual pages to a book page. All the color would likely make it cost a small fortune. -

So I got one of these, but it appears it only uses microSD cards and not normal SD cards unless I am missing something. Its hard to tell if its a microSD port or a microUSB port. I don't have a microSD card at the present but can get one if this is what it uses. No instructions with it, but came in a nice box. -

Will the Colecovision/NES versions of Caverns of Death be released at the same time as the SNES version? -
How did you do this? The ebay sites I get directed to say "sold out".

Google image + photoshop + Atariage store = conversation piece.

His Shaolin Temple style defeats your Monkey Style.

If you are referring to Scramble2600, the fastest you can fire is 3 shots/2bombs per button press in burst mode. Probably need an auto-fire module for continuous firing.
-
Generally designed for ColecoVision, Intellivision, and Sega controllers, but will still pick up the 2600 and 7800 joystick controllers and a few other basic controllers, but does not "seek" Atari paddles and driving controllers.
-
Okay! Got it working. VisionDapter set to Autosense with a 7800 controller. Used Joy-to-Key to to map joystick to keyboard, then mapped Stella 5.01 to keyboard with booster/trigger both set to 4. Both Stay Frosty 2 and Scramble2600 work in 2-button mode. Edit: Can't seem to even get movement doing this with the 2600daptor set to 7800. Thanks for your help!
-
Hi Can you tell me the setup you are using with this: e.g. Genesis controller, 2600daptor 2 set to 2600, Stella controller set to genesis? Thanks.
-
Sega control stick modded for 7800 with Atari cx40 handle
-
On Scramble2600, setting controller to booster grip and setting the second button to booster grip and trigger, I was able to get the first button to only shoot but the second button doesn't drop bombs, so it is detecting the two button controller but the second button isn't communicating yet.

Collector's and Classic Editions - BRAND NEW games

Are there English instruction manuals for all 30 cassettee tapes? If so, would it be possible to just buy the English manuals to use with emulation until I get a program recorder? -
I have read that belt rot is common in cassette program recorders like the 410, 1010, XC11 and XC12. I've heard the 1010 was the best built, but is likely almost a decade older than the XC12. Which type of program recorder are people having the best luck with these days, 30 years later? Is it reasonable to replace bad parts like the belts? Can good parts be found reasonably. Is there some alternative that allows you to play and/or record on a typical tape recorder (also currently slipping in to obscurity). Thanks.
