It looks very nice and works well. I would comment to add the centipede segments that keep coming if you don't get the whole centipede before any segments make it all the way from top to bottom. It makes the game a lot easier not to have that included.

CoolCV and ColEm work great and it looks great. I'll try the Phoenix and OEM CV later. My comments at this point are:
1. the small green asteroids appear to cause collisions with the ship with a small, but noticeable, space between them compared to the other asteroids
2. the hits on the asteroids for the original arcade version are more of a thunder boom (about twice as long and lower pitch).
3. in the original arcade, the small asteroids travel twice as fast
4. I didn't see a small UFO
Update: Phoenix works good from SD card and AtariMax cart. I swear I saw a couple instances of 1-frame sprite ghosting (flash of asteroid or something) at the very beginning of play with SD card when I would shoot something, but I'd need someone else to confirm it wasn't a fluke, as I never saw it again after the first ten seconds of play. Could be irreproducible voltage glitch in Phoenix. Only OEM CV left.

I forgot this was up here in the programming section, I’ll try to check this out with some different systems and emulators tonight and tomorrow.

I have to agree with this. It makes it much harder to use it for a game that may sell out quickly or detailing what you want where there is more than one version.

The older Concertos out there (sold 2015-2016) have a different USB chip than the current version, but are otherwise compatible with the current version.
I can't say as I ever fully understood why some POKEY homebrew roms never had sound on the previous Concerto (e.g., Bentley Bear at $4000 or $400), but will it work for this version?

These people contradict themselves all the time. One day a person will say you should focus only on retrogamers and then the same person will say you aren't being inclusive enough by not targeting hardcore gamers. One day they'll say they have nothing against the Amico itself and the next day the same person will say they are fighting against budget gaming consoles by fighting the Amico. I'm often reminded of a line from Vanilla Sky spoken by Kurt Russel: "Do you know what derangement is?"

I remember a Xavix game where you could plug music into the console with a jack from an ipod or whatever and it could set the action to the beat of the song if you stepped on the mat to the beat of the song. It was an adaptive dance dance revolution type thing from early 2000's which has gone pretty much caput now, but the tech is possible to do these sorts of adaptive things if input such as audio, visual, etc. is possible.

The X and 2020 atari portable seem shorter is supply this year. Sam's Club has the Legends and X Flashback, I'm not sure anyone has the 2020 Atari Portable anymore. The Sega Genesis Minis are around but seem the same as 2019.

If I’m not mistaken, the ports of the 2600 and 7800 are the same, it is the controllers that are different: 7800 controller provides two unique fire buttons for 7800 (and ColecoVision, but not simultaneous) and dual fire 1 buttons for 2600 and 7800 with 2600 games, seeing as only omega race used two buttons at the time. 7800 games are programmed to use pins 5 and 9 and 2600 games are programmed to use pin 6 and possibly different voltage thresholds. Never tried it, but would omega race fire both buttons on a 7800 with a 7800 controller?

The 2600 two-button hacks and homebrew are based on on genesis controllers, where two buttons can be read in 2600 mode.
Why? I guess Atari thought that making the gamer solely use one of the buttons in 2600 mode was confusing. This left the genesis pad as the only unmodified/un-adapted controller with two button support on the 2600.
And booster grip for Omega Race, which uses the other paddle pot. In theory you could have three fire buttons on the 2600 and make 3-base Missile Command if you had an Atari/Amiga mouse or trackball with the L/M/R three buttons which I think some were. Never happened AFAIK.

There are 2600 games that use two buttons, mainly homebrews and hacks.

Right. I’m not sure anyone ever tested early 9 lead standard controllers vs later 7 lead ones. I think someone hypothesized it might be due to increased resistance in the extension cord and Edladdin SAC controller but it was just left off at that point.

Btw, this makes me wonder if the issue with Thexder was somehow related to the pin9 issue that occurred with the Edladdin SAC or a standard controller with extension cord (which would both be wired to pin 9) but not a standard controller by itself, which would not have a lead to pin 9. The OEM ColecoVision does not have has the same issues with pin9 as the Phoenix, but could the lead on pin 9 situation be having a different but smaller effect? In this case on controller behavior.
Were there any any other games besides Thexder with these unexplained Edladdin SAC effects that weren’t fixed by the battery?

I checked the TOM+ with the latest firmware and also the Rys. I can add to the above that the newest firmware v7 is a bit better with the wireless 710, but still acts buggy in pitfall. Sometimes your character will run without moving the dpad or you jump and move rather than both went you want to. I did not have any problems with the wired Logitech 310 pad or Buffalo SNES USB pad with either adapter and the wireless 710 worked well with the Rys adapter. BTW, the instructions for recognizing some of these gamepads are nonsense. With the Logitech pads, I had to plug in the adapter, then plug in the controller, then press the home button after 1 second, which is not described in any of the instructions. It seemed to accept the SNES USB pad automatically, though. I was testing out my TOM2 as well, but forgot how dry the air is and zapped it to death with a big static shock, now it won't seem to turn on.
So, Rys works better with wireless controllers, TOM2/+ works better with mice, I'd give an edge t Rys with gamepad controllers overall, although TOM+ has an extra port to switch between usb mouse/pad and standard Atari controller. Also consider the 8bitdo genesis retro receiver + Seagull 78 if you want to use bluetooth wireless or Wii U Pro or Switch Joycon.
Also, if you are like most of the world, you can't access the TOM updater now, so here it is:

Yeah, me too. I have several trackballs, including the Video61 modded CX-80 for the 7800. It's button placement isn't ideal and there is only one game for it (Centipede TB homebrew).

I can't speak authoritatively, but I liked the mouse conversion on the 2600 trackball games better with the TOM. The Rys was a little jittery. I know a couple people got TOMs that didn't work and two of us could get the online updater to work. Also, the only usb controllers I had at the time were a Wired Logitech ps2 looking pad (310?) and a wireless Logitech 710 and they worked well on my PC, but I couldn't get the jump and left/right to work at the same time to jump sideways in games. Also, I think the rapid fire with either fire 1 or fire 2 when combined with the seagull 78 on the 7800 was the left back trigger button which made rapid fire difficult while using the d-pad. I'm afraid I don't recall how the Rys worked with gamepads. If I get some time to throw it together in the next week I'll let you know. I've mostly been using either a standard joystick or Genesis gamepad. I mostly tried the usb and 8bitdo retro receiver for wireless, but seems like there is sometimes lag, if only 50-100ms. Although, the 8bitdo genesis retro receiver on 7800 with the Wii Pro controller or on 2600 Wii Pro or Wii remote work without lag.
Most of the TOM and Rys info I have is from ones bought 2-3 years ago, so I can't say if they've addressed these issues. Hopefully, someone else can chime in. The TOM+ is just the TOM2 with an atari joystick passthrough (Atari female on one side and USB and atari male on the other.
