  1. I don't know what he hopes to accomplish by trying to compare homebrewers and bootleggers as similar in front of thousands of retrogamer fans. It seems like a good way to get an Expo boycott, besides being completely ridiculous. I think it's also deluded to think he can treat homebrewers as if they were his employees.
  2. Okay, Thanks for the info. Steam it is for the Mayans, then. I've had arrested development since the xbox 360 (and the red Wii that was GC compatible). I pre-ordered the one with the map for Sacred Tribe and waiting on Caverns to come up for pre-order.
  3. T A good suggestion. They might have mentioned something in the thread. But I did not find a reference to curse of the mayans.
  4. The video is about the sacred tribe game, not the curse of the Mayans game. Wondering if curse of the mayans is or will soon be released for Colecovision.
  5. Actually, looking for information on Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayans on Colecovision. But thanks, for the video.
  6. Was that this: https://www.colecoex...er-on-cartridge I don't see CollectorVision mentioned anywhere.
  7. I find these web articles a little confusing: https://www.colecoexpo.com/home/coleco-officially-releases-exidys-sydney-hunter-on-cartridge http://reviewfix.com/2017/04/coleco-officially-releases-exidys-sydney-hunter-sacred-tribe/ http://reviewfix.com/2017/04/review-fix-exclusive-inside-sydney-hunter-sacred-tribe/ At least one of the commenters at the bottom of the page seems to have figured it out. Is this why RWB/CH is freaking on the puritanical, because they are selling this game at coleco expo but didn't bother to find out about the mature games first? It is hard to believe after all these years.
  8. Hello, I must have missed this part of the story. Is Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayans coming out for Colecovision or just other consoles or PC/Mac. I heard about it coming soon from last fall to february 2017, but since march i have not seen anything, but now sacred tribe is coming out in july. Can anyone fill me in where I'm missing out? Thanks
  9. I got an answer to a question the next day. Maybe they are backed up or on vacation. I know there is a stelladapter sight that seems basically dead called grandideastudio. Or it is just like a wiki site that doesn't actually sell anything. The e-mail to 2600-daptor seller is: contact_2600daptor at yahoo dot com or maybe your dad didn't see the underscore between contact and 2600, who knows. Could be lots of reasons, but they should be answering questions. I would get the 2600daptor II, it is more universally compatible for $5 more, although the plain 2600-daptor may be fine for you as well.
  10. More new classic carts to play is great, too. It looks great so far. Can't wait to see the final result.
  11. It reminds me of the opportunists who create and buy domain names similar to those of celebrities or companies so the person or company in the domain name will want to to buy it from them. Only in this case it is like the opportunists are trying to intimidate the celebrity or company to buy the domain name and the celebrity or company are are not making big bucks off of what they do, but are hobby enthusiasts scraping by to do what they love or even just fan-page owners spending money on their hobby to contribute to the gamer community.
  12. Page 99-100 of this book explains that River West Brands is a company that buys up abandoned trademarks. They had filed for over 100 abandoned trademarks by 2008 when this book was published. It sounds like the owner may not really know about the technical aspects of the products, he just tries to make money by selling licenses to use the the names. From the Colecovision website, it looks like he is trying to get the Chameleon going again, unless the page is just a year and a half out of date. They claim they hold the Coleco and Colecovision trademarks, although this seems to be in part a bluff. https://books.google.com/books?id=PCby-SQKFEEC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false I don't think RWB makes anything themselves, they just sell a license to use the name and have others make the products. It looks like he is trying to get everyone to stop using the name CV unless they buy a license to use the name. Maybe they saw how much money could be made from selling the license to AtGames for the CV Flashback.
  13. How many Atari Flashback versions have been made and how many sold? This with the fact that some 180 Atari 2600 games were available for other systems and the PC? And, really, the flashbacks are kinda lame, with limited game availability and the makers possibly doing this to keep people from just using old carts instead of buying the next version with 1-3 games added. Eduardo is not limiting game availability at all. A big plus for the fan-base. Atari 2600 and Colecovision flashback just went on Steam, and the Colecovision game selection was kind of on the lame side as well. 80s retro is red hot and I don't want to be overly optimistic, but Eduardo may be laughing all the way to the bank with 80s retro that is 2018 new. I have to add that I think the impact would be much better with a Colecovision-like shell. For instance, the 7800-like games and controllers on the first Atari Flashback were one and done, but after adding the classic, and backward compatible, CX-40 type controllers, they also added the backward compatible paddle controllers. As far as the Expansion Module #1, that thing always added minibars of changing direction across the screen on my 2600 games, although I think people would go nuts for a modern 2600 cartridge slot (that you don't have to solder in and make a hole and brace for yourself). Take that AtGames. It sometimes surprises me how well the flashbacks have done, considering the things that seem to anger gamers the most about new "consoles" is lack of backwards compatibility, not allowing for using resold games (looking at you Microsoft) and poor game support. I think it just shows how much people want the old systems reborn.
  14. Penguin Land with a slight (25-30 degree) 3-D slant, so you could move forwards and backwards, too! A Donkey Kong like this would be something as well. I'm not sure but I think this would be a lot easier to do than the attempts at a 3-D pac-man. A Driving Game with Dukes of Hazzard like 4-gear shift and maybe reverse added, but a little less monotonous, like Dukes of Hazzard meets Destructor.
  15. So does that mean Io could be made as a MegaCart for the Colecovision, but not as a high capacity bank switching PCB that can also take advantage of the SGM's features? Or could he use the MegaCart for Io to make use of the SGM's MSX sound and 32K RAM? From an earlier post in your newsletter (from 2012), it sounds like he could use a MegaCart or the AtariMax SD cart with MegaCart ROM for over 32k ROM and could also program to take advantage of SGM features. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/204212-team-pixelboy-news-bulletin-october-18th-2012/page-2
  16. I think I know what your terminology issue is: OpCode has one product called a MegaCart and another product called a Super Game Module, which Colecovision.dk says uses Super Game Cartridges...but the term megacart has been around since the vic20, at least in common vernacular. From Colecovision.dk: The Super Game Module = More RAM and better Sound. The Super Game Cartridge : More advanced games, which include a Digital Save Function. This new PCB are named ColecoVision Super Game Cartridge or just (SGC). SGC is powered with a very advanced Bank switching and with Save feature And in a combination together with the new SGM, is a new cartridge PCB for all new and upcoming Premium SGM games produced from November 2016. I suppose one could split hairs over SGC vs SGM cart, if you wish, but SGM carts and SGM games seem like six of one half-dozen of the other. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/253595-where-do-i-get-a-sgm-cart/
  17. But couldn't you have a megacart that also uses the SGM? Perhaps I use the term megacart too generically to mean a cart with over 32k. I guess I also assume most SGM carts have over 32k of storage for the increased functionality as well as the increased RAM, but perhaps that is not the case. Anyhow, don't wish to hijack the thread, so MegaCart it is.
  18. Well, I suppose I meant is a megacart for the SGM too small of a market to make the production economically practical... I think... ? Although maybe sgm carts are proprietary.
  19. A refurbisher told me it is cheaper to buy a new one than get one of the accessories professionally refurbished, so I doubt there is much of a market for the parts. Who were the ones to buy up the mass Coleco liquidations back in the 80s? Like the Colecovision Best Electronics? Someone in New England most likely, since Coleco had a major plant in New York.
  20. Might be interested in a Seaquest patch. Only game I ever went so far into the game everything turned into scattered pixels, but I tried to keep on playing...although didn't last too long.
  21. The the original artwork, if it were two manual pages to a page, it could be kept under 2000 pages, but would probably be better for durability to split it into 4 volumes. Color, or would B&W suffice?
  22. Bump. I would love to buy a badass lightgun game for the CV SGM, even the CRT variety. I have an atari to CV adapter. I wonder if it would work for light gun games, although selling the game with an SMS phaser adapter would probably be better, since SMS phasers are so plentiful on the market...atari light guns, not so much. I think there is still a rapid cult of light gun gamers out there.
  23. Well, it seems the joystick in a little off center, but by twisting the joystick like a dial I was able to get it more or less centered between the left and right and that seems to have fixed the problem for now. Hopefully this will stick or get better with time. Its not like new tac-2's grow on trees. Hopefully not a defective return like a bent shaft. Hard to tell how it is being centered under the rubber octagonal piece around the joystick shaft.
