A new low-priced "Masterplay Clone" for Sega & A2600 joystick compatibility
Swami replied to ave1's topic in Atari 5200
It is different, though, because in the above two instances you aren't shorting a 100mA 5V line to ground. Maybe the 5V 100mA on pin 5 to ground pin short is not occurring with this setup, but I wasn't sure if there was a way to accidentally trigger it as ikonsgr mentioned a couple pages back. -

Well, no effect from the filters, but I don't have an oscilloscope, ect, to analyze what is going on as the difference between the Roller Controller and the SmalleyMouse2 adapter, so figured it was better than nothing. Here is what Waiting For Friday, creator of the Smalleymouse2 adapter has to say on the subject. Limiting the quadrature rate With 8-bit retro computers it was possible to move the mouse faster than the host computer could detect – this would cause spurious updates with the mouse pointer seeming to bounce around the display. SmallyMouse2 contains a rate limiting algorithm that prevents the device from overrunning the host computer. Two definitions in the firmware control this, namely Q_RATELIMIT and Q_BUFFERLIMIT. The rate limit sets the maximum frequency of the quadrature output generated by SmallyMouse2 and is specified in Hertz (i.e. the number of quadrature signals per second). This prevents the device from outputting faster than the 8-bit host can count. Since there is only a limited time between USB reports, any extra position updates that cannot be sent to the host will be lost. The buffer limit parameter specifies how much overrun should be allowed before updates are disregarded. By altering these two parameters it is possible to tune the quadrature output for a specific computer. By default, the firmware provides a ‘safe’ value that should work with a wide-range of machines. The Q_RATELIMIT is only applied to the output when the ‘slow’ configuration header is shorted (i.e. a jumper is placed on the 2 pin header). The Q_BUFFERLIMIT is always applied; however, this should have no effect if the slow configuration header is open (as the normal output rate should allow the output to keep up with the USB reports).

Cool. I hate soldering, but may have to try a couple of these out. -

I think it's important to show how the controller makes gameplay possible that cannot be done using other controllers, since the controller is the killer app for the console. -

If they are looking for an official answer, I know it is made clear on the Intellivision Amico website as well as the Wikipedia page. If they scroll down to the Family section on the official Intellivision Amico website to where co-op is first mentioned, it also says they have single player modes right after co-op is mentioned. Although I know it has been addressed several times, some rumors take on a life of their own, so, I'm sure Tommy will appreciate your letting him know this is still a common misunderstanding. -
I wish I could find a good cheap windows 10 handheld that wasn't $700, even if it had no keyboard. The Android ones are not half that, but Android is like the poor man's Windows when it comes to emulators.

CoolCV emulator for Mac OS X, Linux, Windows and Raspberry

Are all the emulators on there specifically made for the Vita? I wish I could find a good cheap windows 10 handheld that wasn't $700, even if it had no keyboard. The Android ones are not half that, but Android is like the poor man's Windows when it comes to emulators. -

Is there a way to put CoolCV on the hacked Vita? -
I don't mind waiting a few days for something to ship as long as they tell me what's going on. Maybe they live in an apartment building and don't want to leave it in the lobby and can't miss work to take it to the post office until Saturday. But this whole "I don't know what happened" thing is infuriating. Especially when they say they'll send another one and same thing happens. Some kind of scam is up then. Otherwise, after five days I e-mail them and say, what's going on and hopefully they respond with actually shipping it.

I don't think the target are going to think about it initially, but I do think they aren't going to like not having ready access to the games and having to swap them in and out between on board memory and a USB, especially given the several GB size that could take many minutes for each transfer in addition to the updates. I knew a female gamer who said she usually just plays on her phone because it's too much trouble to get her PS3 going. -
Does there exist a Jaguar to Colecovision controller adapter?
Swami replied to eightbit's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Unfortunately, you can’t just make a pass-through because fire one and fire 2 both use pin 6 and fire 1 used pin 8 as ground while fire 2 uses pin 5 as ground. I’ve never been able to find a way to wire this from a standard controller’s pinout without needing a second fire button as part of the adapter. If you use a micro-controller Chip, you need a power source like a battery to power it. No one has done this. Someone could mod the controller itself to do this. I have seen jaguar and Super Famicom NTT data controllers modded to work with ColecoVision, but they are no longer made and I have seen Jaguar controllers modded to work with the Atari 5200, which can currently be ordered. Unfortunately, the only real option unless you find one of these rare modded jag controllers for the ColecoVision, is emulation. -
Jaleco Collection 1 and Piko Collection 2 are the two newest announced. Piko Collection 2 is all Sports and Racing games.

It's a PS2 slim with modbo 5.0 installed. I believe he mods PS1 and PS2 regularly. It was a BIN purchase, no auction. It was a little odd because he also said he was taking a break from it now and had 152 sales with no problems. He had another similar modded PS2 for sale and took it down and I assumed it was the one he was shipping as a replacement, but who knows. I admit it could be the postal service slowly falling apart or he's selling them before he makes them and then never gets around to making them, which is why I dislike they can say it's shipping before the item even goes in a shipping package.

I can't even get 1gig internet where i am. 300 MBs max and I am in twin cities metro area. -
I have had a few out of hundreds of orders where someone with a high rating and hundreds of sales makes a tracking label I receive and I am supposed to get it is 2-5 days shipped domestically, but the parcel is not received by the post office according to tracking and I never get the parcel. I complain to the guy and he makes another tracking label saying he doesn't know what happened, it's never happened before, but same thing happens. So then I ask for a full refund and get it, including the shipping, tax, etc. Has anyone ever figured out why these Twilight Zone occurrences happen?

Rejection from Talirico, business or personal?
Swami replied to tripletopper's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I’ve been told it was 180 degC at the bottom of the world’s deepest borehole in Russia even though they predicted it would only be 100 degC at 12 km down. They had to plug it up though because people were dropping stuff down it and disturbing the Reptilians. Why would space frogs be twelve km underground? 100 degC is 212 degF. 180 degC is 356 degF. Two times plus twelve and two times minus four. 21224. Baltimore, Maryland. P.S. You have to go back to post #17 to get the deep borehole disposal reference. -
Anyone played the Genesis version of Xeno Crisis? How close would you say the resemblance is to Smash TV? I got my Evercade with three games and just ordered the Mega Cat one from Amazon, even though I greatly distrust Amazon delivery, it was cheaper and faster, so fingers crossed. It looks like it has several fun games; Specifically, Old Towers, Little Medusa, Super Painter and Multitude. Tanzer looks like Aliens, which is fun, and Justice Duel look like good simple early arcade game as well. Log Jammers looks like Pong, but is nice to have along. Four others coming from across the UK.

I was also going to see if you had any inside information on WTH happened here, but ...um....yeah, what little was heard or guessed (or seen in the filmed Australian concert) is really more than enough, except, of course, why anyone thought this was a good idea in the first place. -
TheC64 Full Size - Pre-orders Open for USA
Swami replied to StephenJ's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
I get the same sense about the Maxi as the Euro version is around $230 to the USA and hasn't dropped, but could be wrong. Speaking of the original, does the SD card replacement hard drive do cassettes and carts as well as disks? -

I got the Mini, but it was $30. Like, what the hell. I think I would rather get an original C64 with the sd hard drive replacement than the Maxi. Pricey, but you do all the original equipment things the emulator wont.
